We show that geometric scaling conjectured and observed at the ISR more than 50 years ago, still holds at the LHC. We discuss regularities of the dip - bump structures of the differential elastic cross sections, emphasizing the fact that the ratio of bump to dip positions is constant from the ISR to the LHC. Applying crossing and analyticity we identify imaginary and real parts of the scattering amplitude and compute the <math altimg='si3.svg'><mi>&#961;</mi></math> parameter and the ratio of bump to dip values of the differential <math altimg='si4.svg'><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> cross sections. We also discuss the energy dependence of the total elastic cross section and the violation of geometrical scaling outside the dip - bump region at the LHC.

Geometric scaling of elastic <math altimg='si4.svg'><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> cross section at the LHC

We compute holographic timelike entanglement entropy for quantum BTZ black holes in a Karch-Randall braneworld scenario. These black holes are exact solutions of massive 3d gravity on the brane and are conjectured to be dual to thermal states in 2d defect CFTs, living at the interface of the brane and the boundary of the bulk <math altimg='si8.svg'><mrow><mi>A</mi><mi>d</mi><msub><mi>S</mi><mn>4</mn></msub></mrow></math>. Our analysis reveals an interesting relation between the tEE and the central charge pertaining to the dual CFT, which receives nontrivial corrections due to quantum backreaction effects on the Karch-Randall brane, which is explored non-perturbatively.

Timelike entanglement and central charge for quantum BTZ black holes

We propose a Lorentzian wormhole geometry characterized by a closed string massless sector with nontrivial <math altimg='si14.svg'><mi>H</mi></math>-flux and a scalar dilaton. In the string frame, the dilaton exhibits a negative kinetic term, enabling the existence of the wormhole. The geometry consists of three distinct regions. The middle region contains the throat, and its boundaries with the other two regions form non-Riemannian two-spheres, where a fundamental string becomes chiral, akin to a non-relativistic string. While point-particle geodesics are complete within each region and non-traversable across regions, strings perceive the geometry differently, allowing a chiral string to traverse freely.

Traversable wormhole for string, but not for particle

The nuclear clustering, as a quantum phase transition phenomenon governed by strong interactions, exhibits characteristics that are highly sensitive to the specific features of nuclear forces. Here, we examine how nuclear deformation and tensor forces influence <math altimg='si16.svg'><mi>&#945;</mi></math>-cluster formation in light nuclei. The axially deformed relativistic Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov model is utilized to investigate the clustering structure of the <math altimg='si2.svg'><msup><mrow /><mn>20</mn></msup></math>Ne nucleus, at both the ground state and the excited state with a superdeformed prolate. The nuclear binding energies and the canonical single particle levels are obtained at different quadrupole deformation, and the role of tensor force embedded in the Fock diagram of <math altimg='si4.svg'><mi>&#960;</mi></math>-pseudovector ( <math altimg='si4.svg'><mi>&#960;</mi></math>-PV) coupling is revealed. While the deformation induces level splittings from the degenerate spherical orbits, the pion-exchanged tensor force provides an additional contribution that increases them in the prolate case. Correspondingly, the excitation energy in the superdeformed prolate state is reduced due to the noncentral tensor interaction, leading to a predicted value which is much closer to the referred threshold for the <math altimg='si78.svg'><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>&#945;</mi></mrow></math> decay mode of <math altimg='si2.svg'><msup><mrow /><mn>20</mn></msup></math>Ne. Possible <math altimg='si16.svg'><mi>&#945;</mi></math>-clustering configurations in <math altimg='si2.svg'><msup><mrow /><mn>20</mn></msup></math>Ne are then characterized by examining the nucleonic localization function. Although the contribution to the ground state is relatively small, the density profile and nucleonic localization are significantly changed by the pion tensor force for the superdeformed prolate excited state, as further evidenced by characterising the level mixing in the spherical basis components. It is found that the pion tensor force, through its long-range attraction, counteracts cluster dissolution by balancing against Coulomb repulsion. Thus, the results reveal the extra role of the tensor force, correlated to the evolved single-particle levels with nuclear deformation, in the formation, localization and stability of nuclear clustering.

Impact of pion tensor force on alpha clustering in <math altimg='si2.svg'><msup><mrow /><mn>20</mn></msup></math>Ne

We examine the structure scalars constructed from the orthogonal splitting of the Riemann tensor for the spacetime metric describing the interior of a charged matter configuration undergoing dissipative collapse in the framework of <math altimg='si1.svg'><mrow><mi>f</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>R</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>T</mi><mo>)</mo></mrow></math> gravity (where <math altimg='si2.svg'><mi>R</mi></math> and <math altimg='si3.svg'><mi>T</mi></math> are the Ricci scalar and the trace of energy-momentum tensor, respectively), and also the way these quantities influence the various physical parameters of the collapsing matter. In absence of dissipation, the energy density inhomogeneity is found to be influenced by the structure scalar <math altimg='si4.svg'><msub><mi>X</mi><mrow><mi>T</mi><mi>F</mi></mrow></msub></math> and the mass-function of the collapsing matter. Further, the presence of charge affects the structure scalars and the total mass-energy content. The dependence of the various physical parameters like heat dissipation, energy density inhomogeneity, evolution of the expansion scalar, the shear scalar, effective homogeneous energy density, and pressure anisotropy on the structure scalars, have been clearly indicated along with a discussion on the complexity factor of the collapsing configuration. The <math altimg='si1.svg'><mrow><mi>f</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>R</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>T</mi><mo>)</mo></mrow></math> junction conditions have been presented, showing the matching conditions for the matter Lagrangian and their derivatives at the boundary. The energy conditions are also presented and the possibility of violation of the Strong Energy Condition has been discussed.

We thoroughly explore the EIC phase space in order to isolate in which regions the asymmetry can be sizable, finding it can be as much as <math altimg='si30.svg'><mrow><mn>10</mn><mspace width='0.16em' /><mo>%</mo></mrow></math> or larger for certain kinematics. Transverse single-spin asymmetries in <math altimg='si27.svg'><mi>&#947;</mi></math>SIDIS as a direct probe of quark-gluon-quark longitudinal momentum structure

It was recently proposed that predictions of Lorentz-breaking space-time foam models from string theory may be compatible with the suggestion of light-speed variation from gamma-ray burst studies. Our analysis of foam-modified kinematics shows that despite the subluminal photon velocities explaining photon time delays one may, and in certain circumstances does, keep intact the electromagnetic showers essential for the detection and identification of cosmic photons. In contrast to other (mostly phenomenological) approaches to Lorentz violations with modified dispersions leading to drastic changes on the formation length for the cascade development in the atmosphere and in detectors, there is the possibility that the dispersion effect in the present string foam model avoids such modifications and the theory naturally escapes the shower formation constraints from recent observations.

According to recent lore, it is difficult to explain the evidence for a stochastic gravitational wave background obtained by pulsar timing arrays with supercooled first-order phase transitions (FOPTs). We demonstrate that supercooled FOPTs in dark U(1) <math altimg='si21.svg'><msup><mrow /><mo>&#8242;</mo></msup></math> models with a conformal dark sector easily explain the nHz signal at NANOGrav.

Supercooled phase transitions in conformal dark sectors explain NANOGrav data

The study of effective potential for the scalar Lee-Wick pseudo-electrodynamics in one-loop is presented in this letter. The planar and non-local Lee-Wick pseudo-electrodynamics is so coupled to a complex scalar field sector in <math altimg='si2.svg'><mrow><mn>1</mn><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>+</mo><mn>2</mn></mrow></math> dimensions, where we achieve the Lee-Wick pseudo-scalar electrodynamics. The effective action formalism is applied such that the quantum corrections are examined in one loop to the scalar effective potential as function of the classical field, of the Lee-Wick mass, and also of the coupling constants of this model. The instability of the effective potential is investigated due to Lee-Wick mass.

Effective potential of scalar Lee-Wick pseudo-electrodynamics

We develop an Effective Field Theory approach for jet observables in heavy-ion collisions, where the jet is treated as an open quantum system interacting with a hot and dense QCD medium. Within this framework, we derive a novel factorization formula for inclusive jet production, expressed as a series expansion with an increasing number of radiating subjet functions that encode forward scattering with the Quark-Gluon Plasma, convolved with perturbative matching coefficients. This work provides a systematic framework for computing jet observables at higher order and understanding their non-perturbative aspects, paving the way for future applications in heavy-ion phenomenology.
