The first measurement at midrapidity (|$\textit{y}$|$\textit{ <}$ 0$\textit{.}$5) of the production yield of the strange-charm baryons $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{+}$$ and $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{0}$$ as a function of transverse momentum ($\textit{p}$ ) in different charged-particle multiplicity classes in proton-proton collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=13$$ TeV with the ALICE experiment at the LHC is reported. The $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{+}$$ baryon is reconstructed via the $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{+}\to {\Xi }^{-}{\pi }^{+}{\pi }^{+}$$ decay channel in the range 4 $\textit{< p}$ $\textit{<}$ 12 GeV$\textit{/c}$, while the $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{0}$$ baryon is reconstructed via both the $${\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\pi }^{+}$$ and $${\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0}\to {\Xi}^{-}{\text{e}}^{+}{\nu }_{\text{e}}$$ decay channels in the range 2 $\textit{< p}$ $\textit{<}$ 12 GeV$\textit{/c}$. The baryon-to-meson $$\left({\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0,+}/{\text{D}}^{0}\right)$$ and the baryon-to-baryon $$\left({\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0,+}/{\Lambda}_{\text{c}}^{+}\right)$$ production yield ratios show no significant dependence on multiplicity. In addition, the observed yield ratios are not described by theoretical predictions that model charm-quark fragmentation based on measurements at e e and e p colliders, indicating differences in the charm-baryon production mechanism in pp collisions. A comparison with different event generators and tunings, including different modelling of the hadronisation process, is also discussed. Moreover, the branching-fraction ratio of $${\text{BR}}\left({\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0}\to {\Xi }^{-}{\text{e}}^{+}{\nu }_{\text{e}}\right)/{\text{BR}}\left({\Xi}_{\text{c}}^{0}\to {\Xi }^{-}{\pi }^{+}\right)$$ is measured as 0.825 ± 0.094 (stat.) ± 0.081 (syst.). This value supersedes the previous ALICE measurement, improving the statistical precision by a factor of 1.6.

Multiplicity dependence of $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{+}$$ and $${\Xi }_{\text{c}}^{0}$$ production in pp collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=13$$ TeV

We present a system of canonical differential equations satisfied by the three-loop banana integrals with four distinct non-zero masses in $\textit{D}$ = 2 − 2$\textit{ε}$ dimensions. Together with the initial condition in the small-mass limit, this provides all the ingredients to find analytic results for three-loop banana integrals in terms of iterated integrals to any desired order in the dimensional regulator. To obtain this result, we rely on recent advances in understanding the K3 geometry underlying these integrals and in how to construct rotations to an $\textit{ε}$-factorized basis. This rotation typically involves the introduction of objects defined as integrals of (derivatives of) K3 periods and rational functions. We apply and extend a method based on results from twisted cohomology to identify relations among these functions, which allows us to reduce their number considerably. We expect that the methods that we have applied here will prove useful to compute further multiloop multiscale Feynman integrals attached to non-trivial geometries.

Three-loop banana integrals with four unequal masses

In the presence of a finite modular flavour symmetry, fermion mass hierarchies may be generated by a slight deviation of the modulus from a symmetric point. We point out that this small parameter governing charged-lepton mass hierarchies may also be responsible for the breaking of lepton number in a symmetry-protected low-scale seesaw, sourcing active neutrino masses and the mass splitting of a pseudo-Dirac pair of heavy neutrinos. We discuss the phenomenological implications of this mechanism, including the possibility to test the considered models at future planned and proposed heavy neutral lepton searches.

Modular-symmetry-protected seesaw

An accurate description of the scalar potential at finite temperature is crucial for studying cosmological first-order phase transitions (FOPT) in the early Universe. At finite temperatures, a precise treatment of thermal resummations is essential, as bosonic fields encounter significant infrared issues that can compromise standard perturbative approaches. The Partial Dressing (or the tadpole resummation) method provides a self consistent resummation of higher order corrections, allowing the computation of thermal masses and the effective potential including the proper Boltzmann suppression factors and without relying on any high-temperature approximation. We systematically compare the Partial dressing resummation scheme results with the Parwani and Arnold Espinosa (AE) ones to investigate the thermal phase transition dynamics in the Two-Higgs-Doublet Model (2HDM). Our findings reveal that different resummation prescriptions can significantly alter the nature of the phase transition within the same region of parameter space, confirming the differences that have already been noticed between the Parwani and AE schemes. Notably, the more refined resummation prescription, the Partial Dressing scheme, does not support symmetry non-restoration in 2HDM at high temperatures observed using the AE prescription. Furthermore, we quantify the uncertainties in the stochastic gravitational wave (GW) spectrum from an FOPT due to variations in resummation methods, illustrating their role in shaping theoretical predictions for upcoming GW experiments. Finally, we discuss the capability of the High-Luminosity LHC and proposed GW experiments to probe the FOEWPT-favored region of the parameter space.

Self consistent thermal resummation: a case study of the phase transition in 2HDM

We compute the double differential inclusive spectrum for the emission of a soft gluon from a color-singlet $$q\overline{q }$$ pair traversing a dense QCD medium. Our results extend the existing literature by simultaneously incorporating both single hard and multiple soft gluon exchanges between the jet and the medium — an essential ingredient for a complete phenomenological description of jet quenching. Using the Improved Opacity Expansion framework, we provide an analytically tractable treatment, reducing the full cross-section to a set of simple expressions. Our analysis demonstrates that rare hard (Molière) scatterings significantly modify the gluon spectrum at large angles, accelerating the loss of color coherence between the initial quarks. We further quantify whether the modifications are driven by an overall weakening of the interference term, or by more detailed modifications to the fragmentation pattern. Our results provide a direct input for phenomenological jet quenching studies, offering new insights into the role of color decoherence in QCD matter.

QCD antenna radiative spectrum in dense media within the Improved Opacity Expansion

Using supersymmetric localization, we compute the partition function and some protected correlators of the polarized IKKT matrix model. Surprisingly, we find that the original IKKT model is different from polarized IKKT in the limit of vanishing mass deformation. We study different regimes of the localization results and recover the electrostatic problem which defines the gravity dual.

Einstein gravity from a matrix integral. Part II

We construct backreacted geometries dual to the supersymmetric mass deformation of the IKKT matrix model. They are Euclidean type IIB supergravity solutions given in terms of an electrostatic potential, having SO(7) × SO(3) isometry and 16 supersymmetries. Quantizing the fluxes, we find that the supergravity solutions are in one-to-one correspondence with fuzzy sphere vacua of the matrix model.

Einstein gravity from a matrix integral. Part I

We consider the evolution of entanglement entropy in a two-dimensional conformal field theory with a holographic dual. Specifically, we are interested in a class of excited states produced by a combination of pure-state (local operator) and mixed-state local quenches. We employ a method that allows us to determine the full time evolution analytically. While a single insertion of a local operator gives rise to a logarithmic time profile of entanglement entropy relative to the vacuum, we find that this growth is heavily suppressed in the presence of a mixed-state quench, reducing it to a time-independent constant bump. The degree of suppression depends on the relative position of the quenches as well as the ratio of regularization parameters associated with the quenches. This work sheds light on the interesting properties of gravitational scattering involving black holes.

Entanglement suppression due to black hole scattering

In this paper we analyze the 2 + 1d conformal fixed points arising from SU($\textit{N}$ ) Chern-Simons-matter theories with multiple flavors $\textit{N}$ $\textit{ >}$ 1 in the ’t Hooft large $\textit{N}$ limit. The multi-flavor generalization of quasi-fermionic theories (fermions or critical scalars coupled to Chern-Simons gauge fields) is straightforward, but this is not true for quasi-bosonic theories (scalars or critical fermions coupled to Chern-Simons gauge fields). The latter theories have three flavor-singlet relevant operators and also three marginal operators, that become exactly marginal for infinite $\textit{N}$ , but have a non-zero beta function at order 1$\textit{/N}$ . We compute the beta functions of these couplings in various weak coupling limits, and also discuss their general structure, generalizing previous computations for $\textit{N}$ = 1. We find that IR-stable fixed points of the marginal couplings exist for some values of $\textit{N}$ and of the ’t Hooft coupling $\textit{λ}$, but not for other values, and in one case we can explicitly follow how two pairs of fixed points merge and disappear as $\textit{λ}$ is increased. We also analyze the “Semi-Critical” conformal field theories that arise when fine-tuning two (rather than three) relevant operators, and compute the beta function for their (single) marginal coupling constant.

Large $\textit{N}$ Chern-Simons-matter fixed points with multiple flavors

We determine the scaling dimensions in the boundary CFT corresponding to the O($\textit{N}$) model in EAdS . The CFT data accessible to the 4-point boundary correlator of fundamental fields are extracted in $\textit{d}$ = 2 and $\textit{d}$ = 4, at a finite coupling, and to the leading nontrivial order in the 1$\textit{/N}$ expansion. We focus on the non-singlet sectors, namely the anti-symmetric and symmetric traceless irreducible representations of the O($\textit{N}$) group, extending the previous results that considered only the singlet sector. Studying the non-singlet sector requires an understanding of the crossed-channel diagram contributions to the $\textit{s}$-channel conformal block decomposition. Building upon an existing computation, we present general formulas in $\textit{d}$ = 2 and $\textit{d}$ = 4 for the contribution of a $\textit{t}$-channel conformal block to the anomalous dimensions of $\textit{s}$-channel double-twist operators, derived for external scalar operators with equal scaling dimensions. Up to some technical details, this eventually leads to the complete picture of 1$\textit{/N}$ corrections to the CFT data in the interacting theory.
