We study the constraint structure of Fierz-Pauli action in both flat and curved space in the framework of Hamiltonian formalism. We observe an abrupt change in the constraint algebra and the characteristics of the constraints when the mass term is turned off. As is well-known, for de Sitter background with a special tuning of the mass, we will have a gauge symmetry and one degree of freedom less. We will show how this abrupt change in the behavior of the system is reflected on the properties of the constraint algebra. We also obtain the generating functional of gauge transformations both for the massless and partially massless theories.

Hamiltonian structure of Fierz-Pauli gravitons, partially massless fields and gauge symmetry

Following the Hamiltonian structure of bi-gravity and multi-gravity models in the full phase space, we have constructed the generating functional of diffeomorphism gauge symmetry. As is expected, this generator is constructed from the first class constraints of the system. We show that this gauge generator works well in giving the gauge transformations of the canonical variables.

Gauge generator for bi-gravity and multi-gravity models

In the framework of the AdS/CFT correspondence, imposing a scalar field in the bulk space-time leads to deform the corresponding CFT in the boundary, which may produce corrections to entanglement entropy, as well as the so-called subregion complexity. We have computed such corrections for a set of singular subregions including kink, cones and creases in different dimensions. Our calculations shows new singular terms including universal logarithmic corrections for entanglement entropy and subregion complexity for some distinct values of conformal weight.

Entanglement entropy and complexity of singular subregions in deformed CFT

Performing Hamiltonian analysis of the massive gravity [9] in full phase space, we see that the theory is ghost free. We also see in a more clear way that this result is intrinsic of the interaction term and does not depend on the variables involved. Since no first class constraint emerges, the theory seems to lack gauge symmetry. We show that this is due to the presence of an auxiliary field, and the symmetry may be manifest in the Stückelberg formulation. We give the generating functional of gauge transformation in this model.

Massive gravity, canonical structure and gauge symmetry

Considering Chern-Simons like gravity theories in three dimensions as first order systems, we analyze the Hamiltonian structure of three theories Topological massive gravity, New massive gravity, and Zwei-Dreibein Gravity. We show that these systems demonstrate a new feature of the constrained systems in which a new kind of constraints emerge due to factorization of determinant of the matrix of Poisson brackets of constraints. We find the desired number of degrees of freedom as well as the generating functional of local Lorentz transformations and diffeomorphism through canonical structure of the system. We also compare the Hamiltonian structure of linearized version of the considered models with the original ones.

Hamiltonian structure of three-dimensional gravity in Vielbein formalism

Recently holographic prescriptions were proposed to compute the quantum complexity of a given state in the boundary theory. A specific proposal known as ‘holographic subregion complexity’ is supposed to calculate the complexity of a reduced density matrix corresponding to a static subregion. We study different families of singular subregions in the dual field theory and find the divergence structure and universal terms of holographic subregion complexity for these singular surfaces. We find that there are new universal terms, logarithmic in the UV cut-off, due to the singularities of a family of surfaces including a kink in (2 + 1) dimensions and cones in even dimensional field theories. We also find examples of new divergent terms such as squared logarithm and negative powers times the logarithm of the UV cut-off parameter.

Holographic subregion complexity for singular surfaces

We study holographic renormalization of 3D minimal massive gravity using the Chern-Simons-like formulation of the model. We explicitly present Gibbons- Hawking term as well as all counterterms needed to make the action finite in terms of dreibein and spin-connection. This can be used to find correlation functions of stress tensor of holographic dual field theory.

Holographic renormalization of 3D minimal massive gravity

We study linearized equations of motion of the newly proposed three dimensional gravity, known as minimal massive gravity, using its metric formulation. By making use of a redefinition of the parameters of the model, we observe that the resulting linearized equations are exactly the same as that of TMG. In particular the model admits logarithmic modes at critical points. We also study several vacuum solutions of the model, specially at a certain limit where the contribution of Chern-Simons term vanishes.
