Recently, a superdiffusion exhibiting the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) scaling in late-time correlators and autocorrelators of certain interacting many-body systems, such as Heisenberg spin chains, has been reported. Inspired by these results, we explore the KPZ scaling in correlation functions using their realization in the Krylov operator basis. We focus on the Heisenberg time scale, which approximately corresponds to the ramp–plateau transition for the Krylov complexity in systems with a large but finite number degrees of freedom. Two frameworks are under consideration: i) the system with growing Lanczos coefficients and an artificial cut-off, and ii) the system with the finite Hilbert space. In both cases via numerical analysis, we observe the transition from Gaussian to KPZ-like scaling, or equivalently, the diffusion-superdiffusion transition at the critical Euclidean time   <math> <msubsup> <mi>t</mi> <mi>E</mi> <mo>∗</mo> </msubsup> </math>  $$ {t}_E^{\ast } $$  = c  cr  K, for the Krylov chain of finite length K, and c  cr  = O(1). In particular, we find a scaling ~ K 1/3 for fluctuations in the one-point correlation function and a dynamical scaling ~ K −2/3 associated with the return probability (Loschmidt echo) corresponding to autocorrelators in physical space. In the first case, the transition is of the 3rd order and can be considered as an example of dynamical quantum phase transition (DQPT), while in the second, it is a crossover. For case ii), utilizing the relationship between the spectrum of tridiagonal matrices at the spectral edge and the spectrum of the stochastic Airy operator, we demonstrate analytically the origin of the KPZ scaling for the particular Krylov chain using the results of the probability theory. We argue that there is interesting outcome of our study for the double scaling limit of matrix models. For the case of topological gravity, the white noise term of order O (1/N) is identified, which should be taken into account in the controversial issue of ensemble averaging in 2D/1D holography.

KPZ scaling from the Krylov space

In this Letter we consider the out-of-equilibrium phenomena in the complex Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev (SYK) model supplemented with the attractive Hubbard interaction (SYK+U). This model provides the clear-cut transition from non-Fermi liquid phase in pure SYK to the superconducting phase through the pseudogap phase with non-synchronized Cooper pairs. We investigate the quench of the phase soft mode in this model and the relaxation to the equilibrium state. Using the relation with Hamiltonian mean field (HMF) model we show that the SYK+U model enjoys the several interesting phenomena, like existence of quasi-stationary long living states, out-of-equilibrium finite time phase transitions, non-extensivity and tower of condensates. We comment on the holographic dual gravity counterparts of these phenomena.

On out-of-equilibrium phenomena in pseudogap phase of complex SYK+U model

Using the matrix-forest theorem and the Parisi-Sourlas trick we formulate and solve a one-matrix model with non-polynomial potential which provides perturbation theory for massive spinless fermions on dynamical planar graphs. This is a lattice version of 2d quantum gravity coupled to massive spinless fermions. Our model equivalently describes the ensemble of spanning forests on the same graphs. The solution is formulated in terms of an elliptic curve. We then focus on a near-critical scaling limit when both the graphs and the trees in the forests are macroscopically large. In this limit we obtain one-point scaling functions (condensates), parameterized in terms of the Lambert function. Our results provide a rare example where one can explore the flow between two gravity models — in this case, the theories of conformal matter coupled to 2d gravity with c = −2 (large trees regime) and c = 0 (small trees regime). We also compute the disc partition functions with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions in the same critical limit.

A flow in the forest

Defect characterizes the depth of factorization of terms in differential (cyclotomic) expansions of knot polynomials, i.e. of the non-perturbative Wilson averages in the Chern-Simons theory. We prove the conjecture that the defect can be alternatively described as the degree in  $$q^{\pm 2}$$  <math> <msup> <mi>q</mi> <mrow> <mo>±</mo> <mn>2</mn> </mrow> </msup> </math>   of the fundamental Alexander polynomial, which formally corresponds to the case of no colors. We also pose a question if these Alexander polynomials can be arbitrary integer polynomials of a given degree. A first attempt to answer the latter question is a preliminary analysis of antiparallel descendants of the 2-strand torus knots, which provide a nice set of examples for all values of the defect. The answer turns out to be positive in the case of defect zero knots, what can be observed already in the case of twist knots. This proved conjecture also allows us to provide a complete set of C-polynomials for the symmetrically colored Alexander polynomials for defect zero. In this case, we achieve a complete separation of representation and knot variables.

Defect and degree of the Alexander polynomial

In this letter we study various Inozemtsev-type limits of the quantum double elliptic (DELL) system when both elliptic parameters are sent to zero at different rates, while the coupling constant is sent to infinity, such that a certain combination of the three parameters is kept fixed. We find a regime in which such double Inozemtsev limit of DELL produces the elliptic Ruijsenaars-Schneider (eRS) Hamiltonians albeit in an unconventional normalization. We discuss other double scaling limits and anisotropic scaling of coordinates and momenta. In addition we provide a formal expression for the eigenvalues of the eRS Hamiltonians solely in terms of their eigenfunctions.

Double Inozemtsev limits of the quantum DELL system

In this paper we study the group theoretic structures of colored HOMFLY polynomials in a specific limit. The group structures arise in the perturbative expansion of <math><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo></math> Chern-Simons Wilson loops, while the limit is <math><mi>N</mi><mo>→</mo><mn>0</mn></math>. The result of the paper is twofold. First, we explain the emergence of Kadomsev-Petviashvily (KP) τ-functions. This result is an extension of what we did in [1], where a symbolic correspondence between KP equations and group factors was established. In this paper we prove that integrability of the colored Alexander polynomial is due to it's relation to soliton τ-functions. Mainly, the colored Alexander polynomial is embedded in the action of the KP generating function on the soliton τ-function. Secondly, we use this correspondence to provide a rather simple combinatoric description of the group factors in term of Young diagrams, which is otherwise described in terms of chord diagrams, where no simple description is known. This is a first step providing an explicit description of the group theoretic data of Wilson loops, which would effectively reduce them to a purely topological quantity, mainly to a collection of Vassiliev invariants.

Perturbative analysis of the colored Alexander polynomial and KP soliton -functions

We propose the holographic description of the Lifshitz tail typical for one-particle spectral density of bounded disordered system in D = 1 space. To this aim the “polymer representation” of the Jackiw-Teitelboim (JT) 2D dilaton gravity at a finite cutoff is used and the corresponding partition function is considered as the weighted sum over paths of fixed length in an external magnetic field. We identify the regime of small loops, responsible for emergence of a Lifshitz tail in the Gaussian disorder, and relate the strength of disorder to the boundary value of the dilaton. The geometry corresponding to the Poisson disorder in the boundary theory involves random paths fluctuating in the vicinity of the hard impenetrable cut-off disc in a 2D plane. It is shown that the ensemble of “stretched” paths evading the disc possesses the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) scaling for fluctuations, which is the key property that ensures the dual description of the Lifshitz tail in the spectral density for the Poisson disorder.

Lifshitz tails at spectral edge and holography with a finite cutoff

We describe predictions for top quark pair differential distributions at hadron colliders, by combining the next-to-next-to-leading order quantum chromodynamics calculations and next-to-leading order electroweak corrections with double resummation at the next-to-next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy of threshold logarithms and small-mass logarithms. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study to present such a combination, which incorporates all known perturbative information. Numerical results are presented for the invariant-mass distribution, transverse-momentum distribution, and rapidity distributions.

Being inspired by the connection between 2D Yang-Mills (YM) theory and (1+1)D “vicious walks” (VW), we consider different incarnations of large-N Douglas-Kazakov (DK) phase transition in gauge field theories and stochastic processes focusing at possible physical interpretations. We generalize the connection between YM and VW, study the influence of initial and final distributions of walkers on the DK phase transition, and describe the effect of the θ-term in corresponding stochastic processes. We consider the Jack stochastic process involving Calogero-type interaction between walkers and investigate the dependence of DK transition point on a coupling constant. Relying on the relation between large-N 2D q-YM and extremal black hole (BH) with large-N magnetic charge, we speculate about a physical interpretation of a DK phase transitions in a 4D extremal charged BH.

Two faces of Douglas-Kazakov transition: From Yang-Mills theory to random walks and beyond

We discuss the relation between knot polynomials and the KP hierarchy. Mainly, we study the scaling 1-hook property of the coloured Alexander polynomial: <math><msubsup><mrow><mi>A</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>R</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow></msubsup><mo>(</mo><mi>q</mi><mo>)</mo><mo>=</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi>A</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>[</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>]</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow></msubsup><mo>(</mo><msup><mrow><mi>q</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>|</mo><mi>R</mi><mo>|</mo></mrow></msup><mo>)</mo></math> for all 1-hook Young diagrams R. Via the Kontsevich construction, it is reformulated as a system of linear equations. It appears that the solutions of this system induce the KP equations in the Hirota form. The Alexander polynomial is a specialization of the HOMFLY polynomial, and it is a kind of a dual to the double scaling limit, which gives the special polynomial, in the sense that, while the special polynomials provide solutions to the KP hierarchy, the Alexander polynomials provide the equations of this hierarchy. This gives a new connection with integrable properties of knot polynomials and puts an interesting question about the way the KP hierarchy is encoded in the full HOMFLY polynomial.
