A search for the decay $ B^+\to D_s^+ K^+K^- $ has been reported by the LHCb Collaboration using $ pp $ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of $4.8\;{\rm{fb}}^{-1}$ , collected at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, in which no amplitude analysis of the $ K^+K^- $ subsystem was performed. In this work, we study the resonant contributions to the decay $ B^+\to D_s^+ K^+K^- $ within the perturbative QCD (PQCD) factorization framework. Contributions from the $\textit{S}$-wave resonances $ f_0(980) $ , $ f_0(1370) $ , and $ f_0(1500) $ , the $\textit{P}$-wave resonance $ \phi(1020) $ , and the $\textit{D}$-wave resonances $ f_2(1270) $ and $ f_2(1525) $ are taken into account. By introducing the corresponding two-meson distribution amplitudes for the $ K^+K^- $ system, we perform a complete perturbative analysis of the quasi-two-body decays $ B^+\to D_s^+(R\to)K^+K^- $ , where $\textit{R}$ denotes an intermediate resonance, and present the first PQCD predictions for the associated branching fractions. Using the narrow-width approximation, we further extract the branching fractions of the corresponding two-body decays $ B^+\to D_s^+R $ . Our results are consistent with the available experimental measurements and previous theoretical studies. Finally, we find that direct CP asymmetries vanish for these quasi-two-body decays within the Standard Model, so that any experimentally observed nonzero CP asymmetry would constitute a clear signal of physics beyond the Standard Model.

Although heavy-quark symmetry implies a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mn>1</mn></msub><mover accent="true"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> molecular partner of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>D</mi><mn>1</mn></msub><mover accent="true"><mi>D</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> molecule, no such state has been observed experimentally to date. In this work, we propose that the experimentally observed <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>11020</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> may be a candidate for such a molecular state, although it may also contain a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mn>1</mn></msub><msup><mover accent="true"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mo>*</mo></msup></math> component. In contrast, the widths for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>11020</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mi>J</mi></mrow></msub></math> are considerably larger, with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></math> reaching up to 0.167 MeV, while the yet-unobserved <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><mi>π</mi><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math> channel could be as large as 0.754 keV. These distinctive decay patterns could serve as experimental signatures of the molecular nature of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>11020</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>, and their confirmation would provide a test of the applicability of heavy-quark symmetry.

The first evidence for the decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>B</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi>e</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi>e</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> is reported using proton-proton collision data recorded by the LHCb experiment at center-of-mass energies of 7, 8, and 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>9</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>fb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>. First Evidence of the Decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>B</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math>

Motivated by the first observation of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> violation in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi></math>-baryon decays, the search for baryonic decays exhibiting large <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> violation will be a primary focus in the coming years. We propose that significant <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math>-violating effects exist in the decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>D</mi></math>, where <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>D</mi></math> denotes a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> eigenstate of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>D</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><mtext>−</mtext><msup><mrow><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>D</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math> system. The predicted <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> asymmetries for both the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math>-even and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math>-odd modes can reach magnitudes as large as 50%, making these decays promising targets for measurement at the LHCb experiment. Additionally, we predict for the first time several nonzero <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math>-violating observables associated with angular distribution parameters, providing valuable complementary information in the search for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> violation in baryon decays. Furthermore, we propose a novel strategy to extract the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa angle <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>γ</mi></math> by combining data on angular distribution parameters and decay rates from the relevant channels. We emphasize that <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>D</mi></math> decays are among the most promising candidates for determining <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>γ</mi></math> in the baryon sector. Our findings may offer new insights for future theoretical and experimental investigations.

We report the first searches for charged-lepton-flavor violation in decays of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mi>J</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>0</mn></math>, 1, and 2) to a pair of charged leptons using 158 million <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> decays collected with the Belle detector in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> collisions at the KEKB collider.
