Higgs self-coupling is crucial to understand the structure of the scalar potential and the mechanism of electroweak symmetry breaking. In this study, we utilize a deep neural network based on a particle Transformer model that relies on an attention mechanism to comprehensively analyze the measured trilinear Higgs self-coupling through Higgs pair production with subsequent decay into four $\textit{b}$-quarks ( $ HH\to b\bar{b}b\bar{b} $ ) at the LHC. The model processes the full event-level information as input and bypasses explicit jet pairing. It also serves as an event classifier. At HL-LHC, our approach constrains $ \kappa_\lambda $ to $ (-0.25,\,5.41) $ at 68% CL, and thus achieved an improvement of ~44% in precision over conventional cut-based analyses. The results of a comparison against alternative machine learning architectures demonstrate the outstanding performance of the Transformer-based model owing to its ability to capture correlations in high-dimensional collision data with the help of the attention mechanism. These findings highlight the potential of attention-based networks and end-to-end event classifiers in collider phenomenology.

Deep learning to improve the sensitivity of Higgs pair searches in the 4$\textit{b}$ channel at the LHC * Supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NNSFC) (12305112)

In this study, we investigate the isospin-violating decays of $ B_{c}(1P)^{+}\to B_{c}^{(*)+}\pi^{0} $ , which may provide additional information for the determination of the properties of $ B_{c}(1P)^{+} $ , the first orbital excitation states of the $B_c $ meson. By assuming a dual relation between the $\textit{U}$(1) anomaly soft-gluon coupling for $ B_{c}(1P)^{+}\to B_{c}^{(*)+}\pi^{0} $ and the intermediate meson loop transitions, we can quantify the isospin-violating decay effects for these four $\textit{P}$-wave states. We observe that the partial decay width of $ B_{c0}^{*+}\to B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ is approximately three orders of magnitude larger than that for $ B_{c2}^{*+}\to B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ . This indicates that $ B_{c0}^{*+} $ can be established in the $ B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ decay channel as a single state. Meanwhile, the two axial-vector states $ B_{c1}^{+}/B_{c1}'^{+} $ can be possibly identified in $ B_{c1}^{+}/B_{c1}'^{+}\to B_{c}^{*+}\pi^{0} $ with comparable strengths. Although these isospin-violating decays are observed to be small, the theoretical predictions should be useful for guiding future experimental efforts.

We investigate the semileptonic decays <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub><msup><mrow><mo>ℓ</mo></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><msub><mrow><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>ν</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover></mrow><mrow><mo>ℓ</mo></mrow></msub></mrow></math> (with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>=</mo><mi>e</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>μ</mi></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>τ</mi></mrow></math>) within the framework of perturbative QCD. The six independent <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> transition form factors are first calculated in the low-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>q</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math> region using the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>k</mi><mi>T</mi></msub></math> factorization approach. These are then extrapolated to the full physical <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>q</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math> range via the model-independent <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>z</mi></math> expansion, incorporating recent lattice QCD results at high <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>q</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math>. Based on the obtained form factors, we compute the branching fractions of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>−</mo></msup><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mo>ℓ</mo></msub></math> decays. Our prediction for the lepton flavor universality ratio, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">R</mi></mrow><mrow><msub><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>0.2</mn><msubsup><mrow><mn>9</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>0.11</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.12</mn></mrow></msubsup></mrow></math>, is slightly larger than the latest experimental measurement. In addition, we analyze several angular observables, including forward-backward asymmetries, lepton-side convexity parameters, and polarization asymmetries. These results offer valuable theoretical input for current and future experimental investigations of semileptonic heavy-to-heavy baryon transitions.

We study heavy-hadron semileptonic decays proceeding via <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>c</mi></math> transition, such as <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>D</mi><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo>*</mo><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></msup><mi>τ</mi><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>τ</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mi>τ</mi><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>τ</mi></msub></math>. In the heavy-quark limit, where the heavy-quark symmetry holds, we provide a fundamental framework for heavy-quark sum rules among these decays based on the spin decomposition picture. The relation holds directly for the squared amplitudes without requiring phase-space integration. We then apply this relation to reproduce the sum rule among <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>D</mi><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo>*</mo><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></msup><mi>τ</mi><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>τ</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mi>τ</mi><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>τ</mi></msub></math>. Constructing heavy-quark sum rule for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>c</mi></math> meson and baryon decays

Flavor hierarchies emerge from a single hierarchical parameter <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi></math> in a one-flavon Froggatt–Nielsen scheme. One-flavon flavor: A single hierarchical parameter <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi></math> organizes quarks and leptons at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>M</mi><mi>Z</mi></msub></math>

A search for long-lived particles originating from the decay of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi></math> hadrons produced in proton-proton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV at the LHC is presented. The analysis is performed on a dataset recorded in 2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>41.6</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>fb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>. Interactions of the long-lived particles in the CMS endcap muon system would create hadronic or electromagnetic showers, producing clusters of detector hits. Selected events contain at least one such high-multiplicity cluster in the muon endcaps and require the presence of a displaced muon. The most stringent upper limits to date on the branching fraction <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">B</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>K</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">Φ</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>, where the long-lived particle <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Φ</mi></math> decays to a pair of hadrons, are obtained for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Φ</mi></math> masses of 0.3–3.0 GeV and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Φ</mi></math> mean proper decay lengths in the range of 1–500 cm.
