In this study, we investigate the possibility of enhancing the di-jet resonance searches by tagging the final state radiation (FSR) jet using an event-level deep neural network. It is found that solely relying on the 4-momenta of the leading three jets allows the algorithm to achieve good discriminating power that can identify the hardest FSR jet in the signal while rejecting other soft jets. Once the invariant mass is corrected with the tagged FSR jet, the mass resolution of the signal is greatly enhanced, and the sensitivity of the search is also improved by more than 10%. By crafting the input variables carefully, the algorithm introduces minimal mass sculpting for the background, and its applicability extends to a broad mass range. This work proves that FSR jet tagging can potentially enhance di-jet resonance searches, suiting various stages of the physics programmes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC).

We investigated the effect of an isospin chemical potential ( $ \mu_{I} $ ) within the quark-meson model, which approximates quantum chromodynamics (QCD) by modeling low-energy phenomena such as chiral symmetry breaking and phase structure under varying conditions of temperature and chemical potential. Using the functional renormalization group (FRG) flow equations, we calculated the phase diagram in the chiral limit within the two-flavor quark-meson model in a finite $ \mu_{I} $ with $\textit{ρ}$ vector meson interactions. Fluctuation effects significantly decrease the critical chemical potential from the mean-field (MF) value $\mu_{I,{\rm MF}} \gt m_\rho$ to a lower value at which the $\textit{ρ}$ vector meson condensates alongside the chiral condensate once the isospin chemical potential exceeds the critical value $ \mu_{I}^{{\rm{crit}}} $ . This $\textit{ρ}$ condensation was investigated numerically for different meson coupling strengths. The $\textit{ρ}$ meson dominated region is delineated from other phases by a second-order phase transition at lower $ \mu_{I} $ and a first-order transition at slightly higher $ \mu_{I} $ .

We apply the light-cone QCD sum rules with chiral currents to compute transition form factors of the semileptonic decay of the charmed and bottom scalar mesons <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>D</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>B</mi></math> to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>a</mi><mn>0</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>980</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><msup><mi>l</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mi>l</mi></msub></math> <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>l</mi><mo>=</mo><mi>e</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>μ</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>, where the scalar meson <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>a</mi><mn>0</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>980</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> are firstly regarded as two quark states, and contributions from the tetraquark component are then added via proper modulation of four distribution amplitudes considered. The obtained transition form factors and branching fraction are free of the contribution from the light-cone distribution amplitudes at the level of twist-three and two simple relations connecting their form factors are obtained. Our computations indicates that the decay branch fractions are on the margin of the measurements reported by the Beijing Spectrometer III in the pure two-quark scenario and are in good agreement with observations when tetraquark component is considered.

Transition form factors for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>D</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>B</mi></math> to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>a</mi><mn>0</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>980</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> from light-cone QCD sum rules

The near-threshold photo- and electroproduction of heavy vector quarkonia off the proton provides direct access to its gluonic structure. In particular, the cross section for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Ψ</mi></math> photoproduction near threshold is governed by the proton’s gluon gravitational form factors (GFFs). In this work, we employ the leading-order generalized parton distribution framework, together with gluon GFFs calculated in a light-front gluon-spectator model inspired by soft-wall AdS/QCD to predict both the differential and total cross sections for near-threshold <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Ψ</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi></math> photoproduction. Our results for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math> photoproduction show good agreement with the low-momentum-transfer data from the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi><mtext>−</mtext><mn>007</mn></mrow></math> experiment and the GlueX Collaboration at Jefferson Lab. However, at large momentum transfer, the next-to-leading order QCD effects are necessary to describe the data.

Near-threshold heavy quarkonium photoproduction in a light-front spectator model

It is demonstrated that, within the eikonal approach, the Coulomb corrections to the elastic electromagnetic nonflip and spin-flip proton-nucleus amplitudes are identical when the two amplitudes share the same exponential form factors. This result allows Coulomb corrections to be computed numerically, and with high precision, for both electromagnetic and hadronic elastic <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>p</mi><mo stretchy="false">↑</mo></msup><mi>A</mi></math> amplitudes in the massless-photon limit, including the effects of soft magnetic photon exchange. The method relies on analytical expressions and numerical integrations over a finite impact-parameter range with nonsingular integrands, providing a practical and systematically controlled framework for phenomenological applications.

Coulomb corrections for the nonflip and spin-flip electromagnetic <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>p</mi><mo stretchy="false">↑</mo></msup><mi>A</mi></math> amplitudes

The origin of the Higgs boson (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>H</mi><mn>125</mn></msub></math>), discovered in 2012, remains a mystery. In the metric affine theory (MAT) framework, we study the scalar potential and investigate a couple of scenarios for the symmetry breaking mechanisms with a dilaton model which is derived from the geometry. The LHC constraints for the couplings of Yukawa couplings, Higgs-weak vector bosons and Higgs self-couplings, in this model are examined, which identify the parameter space where the discovered Higgs boson <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>m</mi><mi>h</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>125</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math> can be dilaton-dominant and the features of Higgs self-couplings are explored. It is found that via the measurements of Higgs pair production, the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) running can either confirm or rule out the dilaton dominance.

Confronting a dilaton model with LHC measurements

We investigate and update observational constraints on cosmological parameters within the $$\Lambda $$ CDM and dynamical dark energy frameworks, using a new compilation of the transverse (or 2D) BAO data, measurements that provide a relatively model-independent estimate of the BAO angular scale at a given redshift. Firstly, we assess the consistency of this compilation with CMB-Planck data and recent BAO results from the DESI collaboration. After confirming minimal tension with CMB data, we perform a series of joint analyses combining CMB data with the 2D BAO compilation, as well as with several recent Type Ia supernova (SNIa) samples. In all cases, we compare the constraining power of the 2D BAO data with that of DESI DR2 data (3D BAO). Our results indicate that combining 2D BAO with CMB and SNIa data provides observational constraints that are in agreement with those obtained using DESI DR2 data. Although the precision of DESI DR2 results remains higher, as expected due to the more accurate 3D measurements, the 2D BAO compilation combined with other probes yields strong constraints. For example, in the $$\Lambda $$ CDM context, we find (CMB + 2D BAO): $$H_0 = 68.16^{+0.41}_{-0.37} \,\,\, \text {km s}^{-1}\,\text {Mpc}^{-1}$$ and $$\Sigma m_{\nu } < 0.081~\textrm{eV}$$ (95% CL). These results are consistent with analogous analyses using DESI DR2. Several other cases are investigated and discussed in the main text. Our results show that this new 2D BAO compilation is robust and delivers meaningful cosmological constraints. Parameters from 2D BAO alone agree with CMB-only results, with no significant tension. Overall, 2D and 3D BAO provide consistent and complementary information when combined with other probes.

Updated cosmological constraints from 2D BAO measurements: a new compilation and comparison with DESI DR2

The data were collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II asymmetric-energy <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> collider at SLAC. The integrated luminosity of the data sample is <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>28.0</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>fb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>, corresponding to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>121.3</mn><mo>×</mo><msup><mn>10</mn><mn>6</mn></msup></math> <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> decays. Signals of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>1</mn><mo>,</mo><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> are observed over a negligible background. Improved precision measurements of branching fractions are obtained. First measurements of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>1</mn><mo>,</mo><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> angular distributions are performed. No evidence is found for the presence of a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></mrow></math> decay mode.
