Several possible excesses around $ 95 $ GeV hint at an additional light scalar beyond the Standard Model. We examine the capability of the Circular Electron-Positron Collider (CEPC) to test this hypothesis in the Higgs-strahlung channel $ e^{+}e^{-} \to ZS $ with $ Z \to\mu^{+}\mu^{-} $ and $ S \to\tau^{+}\tau^{-} $ . A full detector simulation shows that the optimal center-of-mass energy for studying the 95 GeV light scalar is 210 GeV. A deep neural network classifier reduces the luminosity required for discovery by half. At $ L = 20\; \mathrm{ab}^{-1} $ , the $ 5\sigma $ sensitivity of the CEPC to the signal strength $ \mu_{\tau\tau}^{ZS} $ reaches 0.016 and 0.020 for $ \sqrt{s} = 210 $ GeV and 240 GeV, respectively. The corresponding thresholds for a 5% precision measurement are $ \mu_{\tau\tau}^{ZS} \gt 0.10 $ and $ \gt 0.12 $ . At $ \sqrt{s}=210 $ GeV (240 GeV), the $ 5\sigma $ coverage of all N2HDM-Flipped samples with $ \chi^2_{h_{95}} \lt 7.82 $ requires $ L=800\ \mathrm{fb}^{-1} $ (1.22 $ \mathrm{ab}^{-1} $ ). These results establish a 210 GeV run, augmented by machine-learning selection, as the most efficient strategy to confirm or refute the 95 GeV excess at future lepton colliders.

The Circular Electron Positron Collider (CEPC) is designed to operate at key center-of-mass energies: 91.2 GeV as a $\textit{Z}$ factory for precision $\textit{Z}$ boson studies, ≈ 160 GeV at the threshold for $\textit{W}$ boson pair production, and 240 GeV as a Higgs factory for copious Higgs boson production. It can be upgraded to 360 GeV (CEPC-360 GeV) for enabling top quark-antiquark ( $ t\bar{t}$ ) pair production. Beyond enabling high-precision measurements of the Standard Model (SM), CEPC-360 GeV is uniquely positioned to perform searches for new physics beyond the SM (BSM), serving as a valuable complement to hadron colliders. This paper presents a sensitivity study on the direct pair production of staus and smuons at the CEPC with $ \sqrt{s}$ = 360 GeV, conducted via full Monte Carlo simulation. Under the assumptions of 1.0 ab$^{−1}$ integrated luminosity and a flat 5% systematic uncertainty, CEPC-360 GeV could potentially discover the combined production of left-handed and right-handed staus up to a mass of 170 GeV (if they exist) or up to 169 for pure left-handed staus and 162 GeV for pure right-handed staus. For direct smuon production, the discovery potential reaches up to 178 GeV under the same conditions.

Search potential for direct slepton pair production at the CEPC with ${ \sqrt{\boldsymbol s}}$ = 360 GeV * Supported by the State Key Program of National Natural Science of China (2018YFA0404000, 12135013)

Neutrino oscillation experiments have confirmed that neutrinos are massive particles and that lepton flavors are mixed. To explain the observed lepton mass spectra and flavor mixing patterns, flavor symmetry plays a crucial and unique role. In this paper, we propose a useful symmetry-breaking scheme by applying $S_{3L} \times S_{3R} \rightarrow $ $ S_{2L} \times S_{2R} \rightarrow \emptyset$ within both charged-lepton and neutrino sectors at the mass-matrix level. For the three distinct residual subgroups $S_{2L}^{(23)} \times S_{2R}^{(23)}$ , $S_{2L}^{(13)} \times S_{2R}^{(13)}$ , and $S_{2L}^{(12)} \times S_{2R}^{(12)}$ that are under consideration, we systematically analyze the various parameterizations of the lepton mass matrices. It is shown that all three scenarios are in good agreement with current neutrino oscillation data. Notably, within the latest best-fit values of neutrino oscillation parameters, the predicted values of the Dirac CP-violating phase $\textit{δ}$ are $294.6^\circ$ , $302.3^\circ$ , and $287.0^\circ$ , respectively. To further assess the viability of the model, a comprehensive numerical analysis is performed by utilizing neutrino oscillation parameters at the $3\sigma$ level. It is found that the allowed ranges of $\textit{δ}$ are $281.2^\circ \rightarrow 338.7^\circ$ , $287.0^\circ \rightarrow 342.2^\circ$ , and $282.7^\circ \rightarrow 297.0^\circ$ , which all fall within its $3\sigma$ range. These results indicate that the proposed symmetry-breaking scheme $S_{3L} \times S_{3R} \rightarrow S_{2L} \times S_{2R} \rightarrow \emptyset$ can naturally explain the realistic lepton mass hierarchy and mixing pattern, thereby providing valuable theoretical perspectives for future research.

We present a study of charge balance functions inside jets in proton-proton collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>13.6</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>TeV</mi></math> using the pythia8 event generator. The balance function is a differential observable of opposite-charge correlations, which is calculated in the jet frame for inclusive charged hadrons and the identified <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>π</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>K</mi></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi></math>. The results show a clear narrowing of the balancing width with increasing jet charged multiplicity, indicating that particle production becomes more localized in momentum space in high-multiplicity jets. This trend resembles features attributed to collective expansion in heavy-ion collisions. The species dependence highlights sensitivity to the redistribution of strangeness and baryon number during string fragmentation and color reconnection. The new color reconnection tune yields a little broader proton balance-function width in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Δ</mi><msup><mi>ϕ</mi><mo>*</mo></msup></math> than CP5, hinting at enhanced baryon-production dynamics, whereas meson widths differ only mildly. These comparisons suggest that multiparton interactions and color reconnection contribute to the observed trends, potentially generating collectivelike features inside jets, especially in high multiplicity jets, via nontrivial color dynamics alongside standard fragmentation. Taken together, the results establish identified hadron balance functions in high multiplicity jets as a sensitive probe of hadronization and provide new constraints for models of small system collectivity.

The four-body bound and resonance states are determined by solving the Schrödinger equation employing the high-precision and efficient Gaussian expansion method in conjunction with the powerful complex scaling method. Besides, a comprehensive coupled-channel analysis of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi></math>-wave tetraquark systems is performed, taking into account meson-meson, diquark-antidiquark, and K-type configurations, as well as all allowed color structures. Several narrow resonant states are identified in each <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>I</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mi>J</mi><mi>P</mi></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> channel. In particular, resonances for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>c</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>q</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>c</mi></math> system are found in the mass range of 8.87–9.36 GeV, while those for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi>c</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>q</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>b</mi></math> system lie between 12.13–12.45 GeV. Most of the predicted resonances are compact tetraquark states with sizes smaller than 1.0 fm, although four states exhibit more extended structures with sizes around 1.3 fm, suggesting a more loosely bound nature. Magnetic moments and dominant wave function components of these exotic states are also analyzed. The results indicate that K-type configurations play a major role in the structure of the observed resonances. Finally, possible strong decay channels (golden modes) for these states are theoretically proposed.

We present a comprehensive analysis of the decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>−</mo></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>p</mi><mi>π</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>μ</mi></msub></math> within a model-independent effective field theory framework. Previous studies have been restricted to the three-body decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mi>μ</mi></msub></math> and considered only left-handed neutrinos within the low-energy effective theory (LEFT). In this work, we extend the analysis to the complete four-body angular distribution for the first time, incorporating the indirect constraints implied by the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) on the LEFT Wilson coefficients. We also include the effects of right-handed neutrino (RHN) operators, enabling a unified treatment of both left- and right-handed neutrino interactions in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>c</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>s</mi><mi>μ</mi><msub><mi>ν</mi><mi>μ</mi></msub></math> transition. Using the global bounds derived from LEFT observables and their SMEFT correlations, we study the impact of allowed new-physics scenarios on a variety of observables, including differential decay rates, forward-backward asymmetries, polarization asymmetries of the final-state hadron and lepton, and the angular coefficients (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">M</mi><mn>0</mn></msub></math> to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">M</mi><mn>9</mn></msub></math>) in the 4-body angular distribution. Our analysis reveals significant deviations from the Standard Model in the observables <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="script">P</mi><mi>L</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></msubsup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">M</mi><mn>1</mn></msub></math> for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>C</mi><mrow><mi>R</mi><mi>L</mi></mrow><mi>V</mi></msubsup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>C</mi><mrow><mi>R</mi><mi>R</mi></mrow><mi>V</mi></msubsup></math>, and striking <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>T</mi></math>-odd effects in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">M</mi><mn>7</mn></msub></math> for complex <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>C</mi><mrow><mi>R</mi><mi>L</mi></mrow><mi>V</mi></msubsup></math>. These features provide sensitive probes of vector-type new physics, such as leptoquark or right-handed current models. The predicted patterns can be tested in forthcoming measurements at BESIII, LHCb, and Belle II, where polarization-sensitive observables in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> decays are becoming experimentally accessible.

The spatial distributions of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo stretchy="false">[</mo><mi>u</mi><mi>d</mi><mo stretchy="false">]</mo></math> diquark and heavy-light diquark of the SU(3)-flavor antitriplet charmed baryons are investigated by the two singly Cabibbo-suppressed hadronic weak decays, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi mathvariant="normal">Σ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math> within the nonrelativistic constituent quark model. The above two spatial distributions are reflected by the two parameters <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>α</mi><mi>ρ</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>α</mi><mi>λ</mi></msub></math>, which are the harmonic oscillator strength parameters of the charmed baryons. These two parameters obtain strong constraints from the decay widths of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi mathvariant="normal">Σ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math>. The larger the harmonic oscillator parameter is, the more compact the spatial distribution will become. The current <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>α</mi><mi>ρ</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>α</mi><mi>λ</mi></msub></math> indicate that neither the light diquark nor the heavy-light diquark turns out to favor a compact structure. In addition, some selection rules, including the “<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></math> selection rule,” can be useful for the search of excited baryons in the heavy-flavor baryon hadronic weak decays.

Probing the diquark structure of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> in a combined analysis of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi mathvariant="normal">Σ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math>

This paper presents a search for new physics through the process where a massive particle, X, decays into a Higgs boson and a second particle, Y. The Higgs boson subsequently decays into a bottom quark–antiquark pair, which is reconstructed as a single large-radius jet. The decay products of Yare also assumed to produce a single large-radius jet. The identification of the Yparticle is enhanced by computing the anomaly score of its candidate jet using an autoencoder, which measures deviations from typical quark- or gluon-induced jets. This allows a simultaneous search for multiple Ydecay scenarios within a single analysis. In the main benchmark process, Yis a scalar particle that decays into a Wboson pair. Two other scalar Ydecay processes are also considered as benchmarks: decays to a light quark–antiquark pair, and decays to a top quark–antiquark pair. A fourth benchmark process considers Yas a hadronically decaying top quark, arising from the decay of a vector-like quark into a top quark and a Higgs boson. Data recorded by the CMS experiment at a center-of-mass energy of 13 $$\,\text {Te}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V}$$ in 2016–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138 $$\,\text {fb}^{-1}$$ , are analyzed. The search covers Xmasses between 1.4 and 3.0 $$\,\text {Te}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V}$$ and Ymasses between 90 and 400 $$\,\text {Ge}\hspace{-.08em}\text {V}$$ , with all simulated signals produced in the narrow-width approximation. No significant excess above the standard model background expectation is observed. The most stringent upper limits to date are placed on benchmark signal cross sections for various masses of X and Y particles
