In this study, we investigate a scenario based on the effects of the Loop Quantum Gravity (LQG) on the electromagnetic sector of the Standard Model of Fundamental Interactions and Particle Physics (SM). Starting from a post-Maxwellian version of electromagnetism that includes LQG effects, we derive and discuss the influence of LQG parameters on classical quantities such as the components of the stress-tensor. Furthermore, we inspect the propagation of electromagnetic waves and examine the optical properties of the QED vacuum in this scenario. Among these, we contemplate the combined effect of the LQG parameters and a homogeneous background magnetic field on the propagation of electromagnetic waves by considering issues such as group velocities and refractive indices of the QED vacuum, in detail. Finally, with the aid of the previously analyzed LQG-extended photonic dispersion relations, we re-discuss the kinematics of the Compton effect and conclude that an interesting nonlinear profile emerges in the wavelengths of the incoming and deflected photons.

We investigate the properties of the radially excited charged pion, with a specific focus on its electromagnetic form factor (EFF) and its box contribution to the hadronic light-by-light (HLbL) component of the muon's anomalous magnetic moment, $ a_{\mu} $ . Utilizing a coupled non-perturbative framework combining Schwinger-Dyson and Bethe-Salpeter equations, we first compute the mass and weak decay constant of the pion's first radial excitation. Initial results are provided for the Rainbow-Ladder (RL) approximation, followed by an extended beyond RL (BRL) analysis that incorporates meson cloud effects. Building on our previous work, this analysis demonstrates that an accurate description of the first radial excitation can be achieved without the need for a reparametrization of the interaction kernels. Having demonstrated the effectiveness of the truncation scheme, we proceed to calculate the corresponding EFF, from which we derive the contribution of the pion's first radial excitation to the HLbL component of the muon's anomalous magnetic moment, producing $ a_{\mu}^{\pi_1-\text{box}}(\text{RL}) = -(2.03 \pm 0.12) \times 10 ^{-13} $ , $ a_{\mu}^{\pi_1-\text{box}}(\text{BRL}) = $ $ -(2.02 \pm 0.10) \times 10 ^{-13} $ . Our computation also sets the groundwork for calculating related pole contributions of excited pseudoscalar mesons to $ a_{\mu} $ .

Holographic models that consider classical vector fields in a 5-d background provide effective descriptions for heavy vector meson spectra. This is true both in vacuum and a thermal medium, such as quark gluon plasma. However, the manner in which these phenomenological models work is unclear. In particular, what is the role of the fifth dimension, and what is the relation between the holographic 5-d background and physical (4-d) heavy mesons? Hadrons, in contrast to leptons, are composite particles with some internal structure that depends on the energy at which they are observed. In this study, a static meson is represented by a heavy quark-antiquark pair with an interaction described by a Nambu Goto string existing in the same 5-d background that provides field solutions leading to masses and decay constants of charmonium states. The resulting interaction potential is linear for large distances, with a string tension consistent with the effective Cornell potential. Introducing temperature $\textit{T}$ in the background, it is found for the $J/\psi$ case that there is a deconfining transition at some critical value of $\textit{T}$. The obtained results indicate that the 5-d background effectively represents the internal structure of the (static) charmonium (quasi) states.

The Zc±(3900)/Zc±(3885) resonant structure has been experimentally observed in the Y(4260)→J/ψππ and Y(4260)→D¯⁎Dπ decays. This structure is intriguing since it is a prominent candidate of an exotic hadron. Yet, its nature is unclear so far. In this work, we simultaneously describe the D¯⁎D and J/ψπ invariant mass distributions in which the Zc peak is seen using amplitudes with exact unitarity. Two different scenarios are statistically acceptable, where the origin of the Zc state is different. They correspond to using energy dependent or independent D¯⁎D S -wave interaction. In the first one, the Zc peak is due to a resonance with a mass around the DD¯⁎ threshold. In the second one, the Zc peak is produced by a virtual state which must have a hadronic molecular nature. In both cases the two observations, Zc±(3900) and Zc±(3885) , are shown to have the same common origin, and a D¯⁎D bound state solution is not allowed. Precise measurements of the line shapes around the DD¯⁎ threshold are called for in order to understand the nature of this state.

Z c (3900): What has been really seen?

We consider the X (3872) resonance as a JPC=1++ DD¯∗ hadronic molecule. According to heavy quark spin symmetry, there will exist a partner with quantum numbers 2++ , X2 , which would be a D∗D¯∗ loosely bound state. The X2 is expected to decay dominantly into DD¯ , DD¯∗ and D¯D∗ in d -wave. In this work, we calculate the decay widths of the X2 resonance into the above channels, as well as those of its bottom partner, Xb2 , the mass of which comes from assuming heavy flavor symmetry for the contact terms. We find partial widths of the X2 and Xb2 of the order of a few MeV. Finally, we also study the radiative X2→DD¯∗γ and Xb2→B¯B∗γ decays. These decay modes are more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the resonances and to the DD¯∗ or BB¯∗ final state interaction.

Decay widths of the spin-2 partners of the X (3872)

We study the X(3872)→D0D¯0π0 decay within a DD¯∗ molecular picture for the X(3872) state. This decay mode is more sensitive to the long-distance structure of the X(3872) resonance than its J/ψππ and J/ψ3π decays, which are mainly controlled by the details of the X(3872) wave function at short distances. We show that the D0D¯0 final state interaction can be important, and that a precise measurement of this partial decay width can provide valuable information on the interaction strength between the D(∗)D¯(∗) charm mesons.
