We perform a model-independent study of new physics effects in the Higgs decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mi>γ</mi></math>, focusing on scenarios that spoil the accidental cancellation between the direct and indirect amplitudes. After imposing all existing constraints from Higgs production and decay measurements, we find that a wrong-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> coupling is the only viable scenario capable of enhancing the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mi>γ</mi></math> decay width by nearly 2 orders of magnitude. Therefore, an observation of a significantly enhanced <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mi>γ</mi></math> rate at the LHC or future colliders would provide unambiguous evidence for a wrong-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> coupling, directly pointing to the presence of an extended Higgs sector.

We study the forward-backward asymmetry in the three-body decay process <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>Z</mi><mi>γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mover accent="true"><mi>f</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>f</mi><mi>γ</mi></math>, induced by complex form factors in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>Z</mi><mi>γ</mi></math> vertex. To estimate its magnitude, we derive constraints on the real and imaginary parts of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-violating form factor <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>h</mi><mn>3</mn><mrow><mi>Z</mi><mi>γ</mi></mrow></msubsup></math> using current LHC measurements, obtaining upper limits of about 0.9 GeV. These bounds are of the same order of magnitude as those derived from electric dipole moments. We find that the asymmetry can reach values of order <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math> and may be accessible at the HL-LHC.

Forward-backward asymmetry in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>Z</mi><mi>γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mover accent="true"><mi>f</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>f</mi><mi>γ</mi></math> decay

Angular correlations in Higgs decays to electroweak gauge bosons, $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{ZZ}$ , $\textit{WW}$ , provide a powerful probe of both new physics effects and quantum information observables. We present a systematic study of semi-leptonic Higgs decays $$ h\to V{V}^{\ast}\to {\ell}^{+}{\ell}^{-}q\overline{q} $$ and $$ {\ell}^{\pm }{\nu}_{\ell }q{\overline{q}}^{\prime } $$ , including finite final state fermion masses, NLO QCD, and NLO electroweak corrections. We show that finite final state quark masses can induce effects that go beyond the two-qutrit description in more inclusive regimes, while remaining controllable with suitable kinematic selections. QCD corrections lead to modest percent-level shifts, whereas electroweak corrections can significantly modify the angular structure, particularly in the $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{ZZ}$ channels. We assess the impact of these effects on the reconstructed density matrix and entanglement measures, finding that, although they modify the angular observables, the semi-leptonic channels are better approximated by a two-qutrit description than the fully leptonic decay $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{e}$ $\textit{e}$ $\textit{μ}$ $\textit{μ}$ .

Quantum tomography and entanglement in semi-leptonic $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{VV}$ * decays at higher orders

We revisit the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-odd form factor in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>W</mi><mi>W</mi></math> vertex within the Standard Model, which is induced only at the one-loop level when one of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons is off-shell. To the best of our knowledge, the numerical evaluation of this form factor is presented for the first time. The relevant contributions from quark loops are of order <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>5</mn></mrow></msup></math>, well below the current experimental sensitivity. The phenomenological implications are studied through asymmetries in unpolarized and polarized observables in three-body decays.

The relevant hadronic matrix elements are computed using gauge field configurations generated by the Extended Twisted Mass Collaboration with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>f</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>2</mn><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn></math> dynamical Wilson-Clover twisted-mass fermions at four lattice spacings. Simulations are performed at physical dynamical <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>u</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>d</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>s</mi></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>c</mi></math> quark masses, except for the coarsest lattice, where the lightest sea quark mass corresponds to a slightly heavier pion mass. A controlled continuum extrapolation is carried out. In the continuum limit for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> decays, we obtain <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mn>5.45</mn><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>19</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>keV</mi></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mn>0.635</mn><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>22</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>keV</mi></math>. Our results for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></math> decays show good compatibility with experimental data. However, our prediction for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> decay rate is approximately <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>3</mn><mi>σ</mi></math> larger than the BESIII result. We also present predictions for the differential decay widths as functions of the dilepton invariant mass, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>q</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math>, and for angular observables sensitive to longitudinal transition form factors, which are inaccessible in radiative decays with real photon emission. These results constitute the first fully dynamical lattice QCD predictions for dilepton decay rates in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></math> charmonium transitions, including their differential distributions and angular observables. They provide benchmark predictions for future experimental studies.

Charmonium radiative transitions to dileptons from lattice QCD: The case of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>c</mi></msub><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>−</mo></msup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>−</mo></msup></math>

We review the constraints on baryon inhomogeneities derived from measurements of the deuterium abundance, $\textit{D}$/$\textit{H}$, and apply them to a range of baryogenesis models. In particular, we derive bounds on electroweak baryogenesis as well as on more exotic scenarios. Our results show that, across most of the relevant parameter space, electroweak baryogenesis remains largely unconstrained by current and foreseeable $\textit{D}$/$\textit{H}$ measurements. By contrast, the constraints on alternative scenarios are significantly stronger and can exclude regions of parameter space that would otherwise remain viable.

Bounds from $\textit{D/H}$ on baryogenesis models

A new measurement of the 2H( 15C, 3He) 14B reaction was conducted to investigate proton shell evolution in neutron-rich carbon and boron isotopes. The experiment employed a radioactive beam of 15C with a higher energy at 28.3 MeV/u and a large acceptance charged particle detector array LACPU, enabling coincident measurement of high-lying unbound states in 14B that include <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>1/2</inf>- <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>3/2</inf> transitions. A newly observed 3.45(35)-MeV resonance with a statistical significance of 3.1 <italic>&#963;</italic> in 14B exhibits <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>1/2</inf>- rather than <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>3/2</inf>-dominant character according to structural model predictions. The extracted proton spectroscopic factor of 0.16 &#8239;&#177;&#8239; 0.06 for 15C <inf>g.s.</inf> not only follows the systematic decreasing trend in neutron-rich carbon isotopes but also agrees with theoretical predictions, providing clear evidence for the <italic>Z</italic> = 6 magicity in 15C. Furthermore, systematic analysis of the energy splitting between the <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>3/2</inf> and <italic>&#960;</italic>0 <italic>p</italic> <inf>1/2</inf> orbitals in <math altimg='si4.svg'><msup><mrow /><mrow><mn>12</mn><mo>&#8722;</mo><mn>14</mn></mrow></msup></math>B reinforces the robustness of this magic number in neutron-rich nuclei systems.

<italic>Z</italic> = 6 magicity in 15C and 14B revealed by the 2H ( 15C, 3He) 14B reaction

The Future Circular Collider (FCC) stands at the forefront of the European Strategy for Particle Physics as the future flagship project at CERN. The H $$\rightarrow \tau \tau $$ decay, featuring a large branching ratio, clean identification in the FCC-ee environment, and the possibility to reconstruct tau spin-related observables, is an excellent channel to measure Higgs boson properties. This work shows the expected precision for the H $$\rightarrow \tau \tau $$ cross-section measurement at the FCC-ee in the ZH production mechanism at $$\sqrt{s}=$$ 240 GeV and $$\sqrt{s}=$$ 365 GeV, as well as via the vector boson fusion process at $$\sqrt{s}=$$ 365 GeV. Furthermore, we explore and evaluate a set of methods for reconstructing tau decays. These techniques are critical for unlocking the full physics potential of the FCC-ee and for improving the understanding of tau-related observables in both Standard Model measurements and New Physics searches. The obtained results significantly enhance the FCC-ee outlook in the H $$\rightarrow \tau \tau $$ channel, improving it by at least an order of magnitude compared to the current uncertainties on the cross-sections measured at the LHC.

Projections of H $$\rightarrow \tau \tau $$ cross-section at FCC-ee

Measuring charge-parity (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>) violation in Higgs-fermion interactions is a key target of future precision Higgs programs. The decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="bold">H</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>τ</mi><mi>τ</mi></mrow></math> is particularly sensitive to the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> structure of the Higgs Yukawa coupling via <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>τ</mi></math> spin correlation, while the clean environment of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> collisions at the Future Circular Collider (FCC) enables accurate reconstruction of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-sensitive observables. In this letter, we study the sensitivity of FCC-ee to the Higgs <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> state using <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="bold">H</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>τ</mi><mi>τ</mi></mrow></math> events produced in associated <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="bold">Z</mi><mi mathvariant="bold">H</mi></mrow></math> production at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>240</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math>. In the anomalous-coupling parametrization, we project a precision of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Δ</mi><msub><mi>ϕ</mi><mrow><mi>τ</mi><mi>τ</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mo>±</mo><mn>2.5</mn><mi>°</mi></math> at 68% CL, with the dominant contribution arising from one-prong hadronic <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>τ</mi></math> decays. We further interpret the analysis in the effective field theory framework, deriving expected limits on the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-odd operators, and compare them with electron and magnetic dipole moment measurements and the anomalous-coupling approach.

The LHCb Collaboration recently reported a measurement of the difference in direct <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> asymmetries for the decays <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi><mi>p</mi><msup><mrow><mi>h</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> (with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>h</mi><mo>=</mo><mi>K</mi></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow></math>), offering new experimental constraints on the decay dynamics of heavy baryons into charmonium final states. Inspired by these findings, we explore the branching ratios and direct <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> violations for the decays <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi>P</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4312</mn><mo>,</mo><mn>4440</mn><mo>,</mo><mn>4457</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><msup><mrow><mi>h</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> within the framework of final-state rescattering. Our analysis indicates that the branching fractions for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msubsup><mi>P</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> lie around the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>6</mn></mrow></msup></math> level, with the corresponding direct <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> asymmetries approaching approximately 1%. In contrast, the direct <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> violation for the decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msubsup><mi>P</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> is found to be very small, while its branching ratios show a strong dependence on the spin assignments of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>P</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> states. These predictions may provide useful guidance for more precise <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> measurements and amplitude analyses in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>P</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> region in future experiments.
