The charmed baryon was first observed experimentally in 1975, one year after the charm quark's confirmation via the discovery of the $ J/\psi $ particle. Studying charmed baryon decays provides a pathway to investigate both strong and weak interactions, leveraging the weak decays of the embedded charm quark. However, for approximately three decades following its discovery, experimental knowledge of charmed baryons remained significantly limited compared to those of the hidden-charm $\textit{ψ}$ mesons and open-charm $ D_{(s)} $ mesons. This situation changed markedly starting in 2014, when dedicated data collection for charmed baryons commenced at BESIII. In this article, we review the experimental progress achieved since 2014 in understanding the weak decays of the charmed baryons.

In this study, we investigate the isospin-violating decays of $ B_{c}(1P)^{+}\to B_{c}^{(*)+}\pi^{0} $ , which may provide additional information for the determination of the properties of $ B_{c}(1P)^{+} $ , the first orbital excitation states of the $B_c $ meson. By assuming a dual relation between the $\textit{U}$(1) anomaly soft-gluon coupling for $ B_{c}(1P)^{+}\to B_{c}^{(*)+}\pi^{0} $ and the intermediate meson loop transitions, we can quantify the isospin-violating decay effects for these four $\textit{P}$-wave states. We observe that the partial decay width of $ B_{c0}^{*+}\to B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ is approximately three orders of magnitude larger than that for $ B_{c2}^{*+}\to B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ . This indicates that $ B_{c0}^{*+} $ can be established in the $ B_{c}^{+}\pi^{0} $ decay channel as a single state. Meanwhile, the two axial-vector states $ B_{c1}^{+}/B_{c1}'^{+} $ can be possibly identified in $ B_{c1}^{+}/B_{c1}'^{+}\to B_{c}^{*+}\pi^{0} $ with comparable strengths. Although these isospin-violating decays are observed to be small, the theoretical predictions should be useful for guiding future experimental efforts.

A generalization of the phenomenological blast-wave-Tsallis-power model, recently proposed by the author for the hadrons' transverse momentum (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>p</mi><mtext>T</mtext></msub></math>) spectra measured at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), is developed to also describe the hadrons' <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>p</mi><mtext>T</mtext></msub></math>-differential elliptic flow coefficients <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>v</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math> in identical nuclei collisions of different centralities. The model describes well the available data on <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>p</mi><mtext>T</mtext></msub></math> spectra and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>v</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math> for any <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msub><mi>p</mi><mtext>T</mtext></msub></math> of various particles, from pions to charmonia, in Pb-Pb collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><msub><mi>s</mi><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></msqrt><mo>=</mo></mrow></math> 2.76 and 5.02 TeV and in Xe-Xe collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><msub><mi>s</mi><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></msqrt><mo>=</mo></mrow></math> 5.44 TeV. Also, predictions for OO collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><msub><mi>s</mi><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></msqrt><mo>=</mo></mrow></math> 5.36 TeV are given. In this work, we study the potential of analyzing the particular combination of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>κ</mi></math> modifiers given by <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub></math> to disentangle beyond Standard Model Higgs signals in double Higgs production with two extra light jets at LHC. We use the Higgs effective field theory approach, HEFT, for the gauge invariant description of these two <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub></math> parameters representing the BSM interactions of the Higgs particle with the electroweak gauge bosons, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>V</mi><mi>V</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>H</mi><mi>V</mi><mi>V</mi></math>, respectively. We illustrate the bonus of studying this particular combination <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub></math> focusing in just one process, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>H</mi><mi>j</mi><mi>j</mi></math>, instead of studying <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub></math> separately using various processes. For the detailed analysis here, we focus on the particular final state <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>H</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>j</mi><msup><mi>j</mi><mo>′</mo></msup></math>, with two photons, two b-jets and two light jets, which we analyze fully including parton showering, fragmentation, hadronization and detector effects, in both signal and main background. We find that the sensitivity to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub></math> could be notably improved at the HL-LHC by the proper cuts on the final state <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi><mi>j</mi><msup><mi>j</mi><mo>′</mo></msup></math> that select optimally the events with VBF-topology and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mi>H</mi></math>-topology. In particular, we propose strategies based on a good isolation of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi></math> and b-jet pairs, and focus specially on specific variables like <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>η</mi><mrow><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi></mrow></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>P</mi><mrow><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi></mrow><mi>T</mi></msubsup></math> where the signal events distributions may efficiently discriminate between BSM signal versus SM background. We will show here how the high transversality of these two pairs in the signal (inherited from the high transversality of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi></math>’s) is correlated with the nonvanishing value of this <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msubsup><mi>κ</mi><mi>V</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msub><mi>κ</mi><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>V</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> combination.

Based on $ (10087\pm 44)\times10^{6} $ $ J/\psi $ events collected with the BESIII detector, we search for the lepton number violating decay $ J/\psi \to K^+K^+e^-e^- + c.c. $ for the first time. The upper limit on the branching fraction of this decay is set to $ 2.1 \times 10^{-9} $ at the 90% confidence level with a frequentist method. This is the first search for $ J/\psi $ decays with a lepton number change by two, offering valuable insights into the underlying physical processes.

We propose a novel method to detect reactor $ \overline{\nu}^{}_e \to \overline{\nu}^{}_\mu $ and $ \overline{\nu}^{}_e \to \overline{\nu}^{}_\tau $ oscillations by using elastic antineutrino-electron scattering processes $ \overline{\nu}^{}_\alpha + e^- \to \overline{\nu}^{}_\alpha + e^- $ (for $ \alpha = e, \mu, \tau $ ), among which the $ \overline{\nu}^{}_e $ events can be singled out by accurately measuring the $ \overline{\nu}^{}_e $ flux via the inverse beta decay $ \overline{\nu}^{}_e + p \to e^+ + n $ . A proof-of-concept study shows that such measurements will not only be able to test the conservation of probability for reactor antineutrino oscillations, but also offer a new possibility to probe leptonic CP violation at the one-loop level.

In this work, we discuss both relativistic and perturbative QCD corrections to the transition form-factor $$\mathcal{F}_{\eta _Q}{(t_1,t_2)}$$ for the process $$\gamma ^*(q_1) \gamma ^*(q_2) \leftrightarrow \eta _Q(P)$$ with dependencies on the normalised photon virtualities $$t_1=q_1^2/m_Q^2$$ and $$t_2=q_2^2/m_Q^2$$ , where $$m_Q$$ is the heavy quark mass. We resum a class of relativistic corrections to all orders in the relativistic parameter $$\langle v^2 \rangle _{\eta _Q}$$ . In addition, we include perturbative QCD corrections up to next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the strong coupling constant $$\alpha _s$$ . This involves the computation of two-loop amplitudes with two off-shell photons. We explore three different phenomenological applications of our transition form-factors for the charmonium case. We first study the ratio $$\vert \mathcal{F}_{\eta _c}{(t_1,0)} \vert / \vert \mathcal{F}_{\eta _c}{(0,0)} \vert $$ for the single space-like photon case and compare our results with the existing $$\eta _c$$ measurements from the collaboration. Secondly, we consider observables for the case of double space-like photons and discuss the impact of the different corrections. The NNLO corrections for this case are presented here for the first time in the literature. Finally, we revisit the decay width $$\Gamma [\eta _c \rightarrow \gamma \gamma ]$$ and compare it with the existing PDG value.

Transition form-factor for $$\eta _Q$$ at NNLO in the strong coupling $$\alpha _s$$ and with all-order $$v^2$$ resummation

We investigate the nonleptonic two-body weak decays of the single bottom baryon <math altimg='si83.svg'><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup></math> into <math altimg='si93.svg'><mrow><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mi>P</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mi>V</mi><mo>)</mo></mrow></mrow></math> final states within the factorization framework. Employing this framework and incorporating the contributions from the current-current operators, we compute the tree-level decay amplitudes and decay widths of the <math altimg='si92.svg'><mrow><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mo>&#8594;</mo><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mi>P</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mi>V</mi><mo>)</mo></mrow></mrow></math> processes in terms of the <math altimg='si94.svg'><mrow><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mo>&#8594;</mo><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup></mrow></math> transition form factors. Here, <italic>P</italic> and <italic>V</italic> denote pseudoscalar and vector mesons, respectively. Using the form factors obtained in our previous work, we evaluate the numerical values of the decay widths for the dominant nonleptonic weak channels. This study complements our previous analysis of the semileptonic weak transitions <math altimg='si95.svg'><mrow><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mo>&#8594;</mo><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#937;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mo>*</mo></msubsup><mi>&#8467;</mi><msub><mover accent='true'><mi>&#957;</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover><mi>&#8467;</mi></msub></mrow></math> reported in Ref. The constraints obtained on the Wilson coefficients <math altimg='si17.svg'><msubsup><mi>C</mi><mrow><mi>u</mi><mi>s</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>s</mi></mrow><mi>L</mi></msubsup></math> and <math altimg='si18.svg'><msubsup><mi>C</mi><mrow><mi>u</mi><mi>s</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>s</mi></mrow><mi>R</mi></msubsup></math> are more stringent than the previous limits derived from the LHC searches for the colored mediators.

We study the holographic dual of the extended thermodynamics of spherically symmetric, charged Gauss–Bonnet AdS black holes in the context of the AdS/CFT correspondence. Compared to Einstein’s theory of gravity, Gauss–Bonnet gravity introduces higher-order curvature terms. The coupling constants of these higher-order curvature terms $$\alpha $$ can serve as new thermodynamic quantities, which will also be dual to thermodynamic quantities on the boundary CFT, a feature not present in the CFT dual to Einstein’s gravity previously. Based on the holographic dictionary, we studied the critical behavior and phase transition of the CFT description of the charged Gauss–Bonnet black holes in $$d=4$$ and $$d=5$$ in the ensemble at fixed $$(C, \mathcal {V}, \tilde{Q}, \tilde{\mathcal {A}})$$ . The interesting behaviour of free energy stems from the fact that the constraints we introduced to handle the gravitational constant on CFT and the AdS radius differ from conventional approaches. Using the criticality equation, we numerically found the critical points of the zeroth-order and first-order phase transition for $$\tilde{\mathcal {A}}$$ . The relationships between conjugate thermodynamic pairs (equation of state) were also examined. In the case of the $$p-\mathcal {V}$$ , $$\tilde{T}-\tilde{S}$$ and $$\tilde{\varPhi }-\tilde{Q}$$ conjugate pairs, characteristics that are analogous to the first-order phase transition of van der Waals fluids were found.
