We consider the reduction of four-derivative heterotic supergravity on a torus and construct two-charge multicenter BPS black hole solutions. In $\textit{d}$ = 5, the three-form field can be dualized to a gauge field and we correspondingly construct three-charge multicenter BPS black hole solutions to the dualized Bergshoeff-de Roo action. This makes precise the embedding of known solutions into five-dimensional $\textit{α}$ -corrected STU supergravity.

Multicenter higher-derivative BPS black holes

We study the inelastic charmonium ( $ J/\psi $ , $ \psi(2S) $ ) and bottomonium ( $ \Upsilon(nS) $ ) photoproduction and fragmentation processes in $\textit{p}$-$\textit{p}$ and $ \rm Pb$ - $\rm Pb$ collisions at LHC energies, where the ultra-incoherent photon emission is included. Using the NRQCD factorization approach, an exact treatment is developed. This approach recovers the Weizsäcker-Williams approximation (WWA) near the $ Q^{2}\sim0 $ region, where the Martin-Ryskin and BCCKL methods are used to avoid double counting. We calculated the $ Q^{2} $ , $\textit{y}$, $\textit{z}$, $ \sqrt{s} $ , and $ p_{T} $ dependent and total cross sections. Inelastic photoproduction and fragmentation were observed to contribute to heavy quarkonium production, particularly at large $ p_{T} $ . In addition, the contribution of the ultra-incoherent photon channel, which increases rapidly with quarkonium mass, is significant and begins to dominate the photoproduction processes for large $ p_{T} $ . We also obtained the complete WWA validity scopes of inelastic heavy quarkonium photoproduction in heavy-ion collisions. The WWA had high accuracy at high energies and for $\rm Pb $ - $\rm Pb $ collisions. However, current photon spectra are derived beyond the WWA scope, and double counting can occur when considering different channels simultaneously.

The neutrino floor, a theoretical sensitivity limit for dark matter (DM) direct detection, is being redefined as the boundary of a dynamic ''neutrino fog,'' where neutrino signals become inevitable, obscuring DM detection due to statistical and systematic uncertainties. This study provides the first site-specific analysis of the neutrino floor at China Jinping Underground Laboratory (CJPL), leveraging its unique geographic and environmental characteristics. We quantify how CJPL’s suppressed atmospheric neutrino flux (approximately 30% lower than that of Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS)) reshapes the neutrino floor, thereby enabling improved sensitivity to high-mass WIMPs (mass > 10 GeV). Using a gradient-based framework, we derive the CJPL’s neutrino floor and estimate the detection prospects for the PandaX-xT experiment. Our results demonstrate that a 500 tonne-year exposure with PandaX-xT could reach the floor, probing spin independent cross-sections down to $ \sigma_{n}\sim 3\times 10^{-49}\; {\rm{cm}}^2$ at a DM mass of 70 GeV/$\textit{c}$ $^{2}$.

We study the Type IIB eight-derivative effective Lagrangian beyond the quartic level, focusing on interactions involving gravitons and axio-dilatons. We show how to translate five-point scattering amplitudes into genuine five-point contact terms and extract all perturbative contributions to the effective action. Our result is consistent with T-duality predictions at tree level in the NSNS sector. We find that couplings with an even/odd number of scalars are neutral/charged under SL(2, $\textit{ℤ}$), and use this feature to deduce their non-perturbative completion. The mixed NSNS/RR structures that cannot be deduced from the pure NSNS sector allow us to unambiguously fix the kinematics, which turns out to be the same for tree level and one loop. In Type IIA, these structures are essential for establishing agreement of string-theoretic corrections with the circle reduction of M-theory higher-derivative couplings.

Type IIB at eight derivatives: five-point axio-dilaton couplings

We analyzed two-loop planar contributions to a three-body form factor at next-to-leading power in the high-energy limit, where the masses of the external particles are much smaller than their energies. Calculations were performed by exploiting differential equations for the expansion coefficients, both to facilitate linear relations among them and to derive their analytic expressions. The results are expressed in terms of generalized polylogarithms involving a few simple symbol letters. Our method can readily be applied to calculations of non-planar contributions as well. Our results provide crucial information for establishing sub-leading factorization theorems for massive scattering amplitudes in the high-energy limit.

We present the first lattice result of the near threshold $ \Lambda_c\Lambda_c $ scattering with $ I(J^P) = 0(0^+) $ . The calculation is performed on two $ N_f = 2+1 $ Wilson-Clover ensembles with pion mass $ m_\pi \sim 303 $ MeV and lattice spacing $ a = 0.07746 $ fm. Lüscher's finite volume method is utilized to extract the scattering parameters from the finite-volume spectrum. The coupled channel $ \Xi_{cc}N $ is ignored in the scattering analysis based on the observation that the energy levels computed from the $ \Lambda_c\Lambda_c $ and $ \Xi_{cc}N $ operators do not mix. The $ \Sigma_c\Sigma_c $ channel is not included either since the energy range explored in this study is well below its threshold. Our results indicate that the interaction in the $ \Lambda_c\Lambda_c $ single channel is repulsive, and the scattering length is determined to be $ a_0 = -0.21(4)(8) $ fm, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic.

<p>Dark matter particles with a mass around 1 eV can decay into near-infrared photons. Utilizing available public blank sky observations from the NIRSpec IFU on the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), we search for a narrow emission line due to decaying dark matter and derive leading constraints in the mass range 0.8–3 eV on the decay rate to photons, and more specifically, on the axion-photon coupling for the case of axionlike particles. Hunting Dark Matter Lines in the Infrared Background with the James Webb Space Telescope

There is now strong evidence that the superconformal index of holographic gauge theories admits a giant graviton expansion capturing the worldvolume dynamics of spherical D3-branes moving in internal space. While the giant graviton indices may be written as suitable contour integrals, care must be taken in their evaluation, as there can be an ambiguity in choice of integration contour or, equivalently, “pole selection”. We resolve this ambiguity by using Murthy’s recent expansion of the superconformal index to provide a rigorous underpinning of the evaluation of the supergravity giant graviton indices. In doing so, we directly relate Murthy’s giant graviton expansion to the supergravity D3-brane expansion.

Analytic continuation and the giant graviton expansion

Ignoring ten-dimensional heterotic gauge fields, heterotic supergravity reduced on a d-dimensional torus gives rise to a half-maximal supergravity coupled to d vector multiplets. The reduced theory has a continuous O(d, d; ℝ)/O(d)− × O(d)+ symmetry that persists to all perturbative orders in the string α  ′  expansion. We highlight this symmetry by explicitly reducing the bosonic sector of four-derivative heterotic supergravity as well as its fermionic supersymmetry variations. After appropriate field redefinitions, the resulting action and supersymmetry variations are manifestly O(d) −  × O(d)+ invariant. This reduction allows us to explore the interplay between the gravity and vector multiplets beyond leading order, where (in our conventions) O(d)− is the supergravity R-symmetry while O(d)+ is a flavor symmetry of the d vector multiplets.

Higher derivative heterotic supergravity on a torus and supersymmetry

We revisit the existence of monotonic quantities along renormalization group flows using only the Null Energy Condition and the Ryu-Takayanagi formula for the entanglement entropy of field theories with anti-de Sitter gravity duals. In particular, we consider flows within the same dimension and holographically reprove the c-, F -, and a-theorems in dimensions two, three, and four. We focus on the family of maximally spherical entangling surfaces, define a quasi-constant of motion corresponding to the breaking of conformal invariance, and use a properly defined distance between minimal surfaces to construct a holographic c-function that is monotonic along the flow. We then apply our method to the case of flows across dimensions: there, we reprove the monotonicity of flows from AdS D+1 to AdS3 and prove the novel case of flows from AdS5 to AdS4.
