The JUNO first data and the recent neutrino global fit results are implemented in the sum rule from the residual <math altimg='si1.svg'><msubsup><mi mathvariant='double-struck'>Z</mi><mn>2</mn><mi>s</mi></msubsup></math> and <math altimg='si2.svg'><msubsup><mover><mrow><mi mathvariant='double-struck'>Z</mi></mrow><mo stretchy='true'>&#8254;</mo></mover><mn>2</mn><mi>s</mi></msubsup></math> symmetries to make prediction of the leptonic Dirac CP phase <italic>&#948;<inf>D</inf></italic>. Without involving model parameters, the probability distribution of <italic>&#948;<inf>D</inf></italic> can be readily obtained from the experimental measurements of the three mixing angles. We then confront the theoretical predictions with the global fit results for the CP phase as well as the T2K and NOvA joint analysis for their CP measurements to give the data preference of the two residual symmetries with Bayes factor for both normal and inverted orderings. We further extend our analysis to a two-dimensional probability distribution to fully explore the correlation between the CP phase <italic>&#948;<inf>D</inf></italic> and the atmospheric angle <italic>&#952;<inf>a</inf></italic>&#8239;&#8801;&#8239; <italic>&#952;</italic> <inf>23</inf>.

CP prediction from residual <math altimg='si1.svg'><msubsup><mi mathvariant='double-struck'>Z</mi><mn>2</mn><mi>s</mi></msubsup></math> and <math altimg='si2.svg'><msubsup><mover><mrow><mi mathvariant='double-struck'>Z</mi></mrow><mo stretchy='true'>&#8254;</mo></mover><mn>2</mn><mi>s</mi></msubsup></math> symmetries with the latest data

The minimal set of leptoquarks capable of generating radiative masses for the neutrinos into a 3-3-1 model consist of one triplet and one singlet of scalar leptoquarks. As an interesting result, the standard neutrinos acquire small Majorana masses at the one-loop level, while right-handed (sterile) neutrinos obtain small Majorana masses at the two-loop level, naturally making them light particles as well. Additionally, we discuss the viability of this scenario and several other interesting phenomenological consequences, including its impact on <italic>B</italic>-meson physics and rare Higgs decays, both of which are also induced by the leptoquarks.

Leptoquark-induced radiative masses for active and sterile neutrinos within the framework of the 3-3-1 model

We perform a global analysis of most up-to-date solar neutrino data and KamLAND reactor antineutrino data in the framework of the 3+1 sterile neutrino mixing scenario (invoked to explain the results of the Gallium source experiments) with the aim of quantifying the dependence of the (in)compatibility of the required mixing with assumptions on the initial fluxes. The analysis of solar data is performed in two alternative ways: using the flux predicted by the latest standard solar models, and in a model independent approach where the solar fluxes are also determined by the fit. The dependence on the normalization of the capture rate in the solar Gallium experiments is also quantified. Similarly, in the KamLAND analysis we consider both the case where the reactor flux normalization is assumed to be known <italic>a priori</italic>, as well as a normalization free case which relies solely on available neutrino data. Using a parameter goodness of fit test, we find that in most cases the compatibility between Gallium and solar+KamLAND data only occur at the 3 <italic>&#963;</italic> level or higher. We also discuss the implications of enforcing better compatibility by tweaking the mechanism for the energy production in the Sun.

Solar model independent constraints on the sterile neutrino interpretation of the Gallium Anomaly

In the 3-3-1 model with right-handed neutrinos (331RHNs), three triplets of scalars engender the correct sequence of symmetry breaking, <math><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>C</mi></mrow></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>L</mi></mrow></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>X</mi></mrow></msub><mo>→</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>C</mi></mrow></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>2</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>L</mi></mrow></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>Y</mi></mrow></msub><mo>→</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>C</mi></mrow></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>U</mi><msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mrow><mi>EM</mi></mrow></msub></math>, generating mass for all fermions, except neutrinos. Tiny neutrino masses may be achieved by implementing the type II seesaw mechanism into the model, requiring the addition of one sextet of scalars to the original scalar content. As consequence, it emerges a very complex scalar sector, involving terms that violate lepton number explicitly, too. The main obstacle to the development of the phenomenology of such scenario is the knowledge of its spectrum of scalars since, now, there are 15 massive scalar particles on it. The proposal of this work is to do an exhaustive analysis of such scalar sector with lepton number being explicitly violated at low, electroweak and high energy scales by means of trilinear terms in the potential. The first case can be addressed analytically and, as a nice result, we have observed that the scalar content of such case is split into two categories: One belonging to the 331 energy scale and the other belonging to the EWSB energy scale, with the last recovering the well know 2THDM + triplet. For the other cases, the scalar sector can be addressed only numerically. Hence, we proposed a very general approach for the numerical study of the potential, avoiding simplifications that can make us reach conclusions without foundation. We show that, in the case of lepton number being explicitly violated at electroweak scale, it is possible to recover the same physics of the 2HDM + triplet, as the previous case. Among all the possibilities, we call the attention to one special case which generates the 3HDM+triplet scenario. For the last case, when lepton number is violated at high energy scale, the sextet becomes very massive and decouples from the original scalar content of the 3-3-1 model. We also discuss, when possible, the phenomenological aspects of each case.

On the Higgs spectra of the 3-3-1 model with the sextet of scalars engendering the type II seesaw mechanism

The minimal scalar sector of the 3-3-1 model is composed by the SU(3)$_{L}$ triplet scalars η, ρ, χ and its potential allows the trilinear term <math><mfrac><mrow><mi>f</mi></mrow><mrow><msqrt><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msqrt></mrow></mfrac><mi>χ</mi><mi>η</mi><mi>ρ</mi></math>. Since f is an energy scale associated to the explicit violation of Peccei-Quinn global symmetry, it is natural to wonder about its value and influence in the spectrum of scalars of the model. Here, we show that f determines the spectrum of scalars of the model. Hence, we develop the scalar sector considering f belonging to four energy regimes, namely <math><mi>f</mi><mo>≪</mo><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>η</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>, <math><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>ρ</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>; <math><mi>f</mi><mo>=</mo><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>η</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>, <math><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>ρ</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>; <math><mi>f</mi><mo>=</mo><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>χ</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math> and <math><mi>f</mi><mo>≫</mo><msub><mrow><mo>〈</mo><mi>χ</mi><mo>〉</mo></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math> and obtain the spectrum of scalars for each case. In the first and second cases the spectrum of scalars presents a set of new scalars belonging to the electroweak scale, while in the third case all new scalars belong to the 3-3-1 scale and the fourth case all the new scalars have masses lying at f scale. All cases have a neutral CP-even scalar mimicking the standard Higgs.

On the Higgs spectra of the 3-3-1 model

Since the heavy neutrinos of the inverse seesaw mechanism mix largely with the standard ones, the charged currents formed with them and the muons have the potential of generating robust and positive contribution to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon. However, bounds from the non-unitary in the leptonic mixing matrix may restrict so severely the parameters of the mechanism that, depending on the framework under which the mechanism is implemented, may render it unable to explain the recent muon g-2 result. In this paper we show that this happens when we implement the mechanism into the standard model and into two versions of the 3-3-1 models.

Confronting the inverse seesaw mechanism with the recent muon g-2 result

It is well known that the standard model of electroweak interactions rests on a metastable vacuum. This can be fixed only by means of new physics. Presently neutrino physics provides the most intriguing framework to formulate new physics. This is so because, in addition to the problem with lightness for the active standard neutrinos, current MiniBooNE experimental results may indicate that sterile neutrinos exist and are light, too. In this case, it is reasonable to expect that the framework that yields light active and sterile neutrinos could stabilize the vacuum, too. To achieve this goal, we consider an extension of the standard model which involves new fermions in the form of right-handed neutrinos (<math><msub><mi>ν</mi><mi>R</mi></msub></math>) and new scalars in the form of triplets (<math><mi>Δ</mi></math>) and singlets (<math><mi>σ</mi></math>). Within this framework, tiny masses are obtained when we consider that lepton number is spontaneously broken at low-energy scale, which means that <math><mi>Δ</mi></math> and <math><mi>σ</mi></math> both develop very small vacuum expectation values. We investigate whether this setting leads to a stable vacuum. For this, we obtain the whole set of conditions over the quartic terms of the potential that ensures that the model is bounded from below and evaluate the renormalization group equation of the self-coupling of the Higgs. We show that in such a scenario the quartic coupling <math><mi>κ</mi></math> of the interaction (<math><msup><mi>Φ</mi><mi>T</mi></msup><mi>Δ</mi><mi>Φ</mi><mi>σ</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>H</mi><mo>.</mo><mi>c</mi><mo>.</mo></math>), where <math><mi>Φ</mi></math> is the standard Higgs doublet, is responsible for the stability of the electroweak vacuum up to Planck scale. We also extract constraints over the parameters of the potential by means of lepton flavor violating processes and from invisible decay of the standardlike Higgs.

Vacuum stability and spontaneous violation of the lepton number at a low-energy scale in a model for light sterile neutrinos

The last few years have been witness to a proliferation of new results concerning heavy exotic hadrons. Experimentally, many new signals have been discovered that could be pointing towards the existence of tetraquarks, pentaquarks, and other exotic configurations of quarks and gluons. Theoretically, advances in lattice field theory techniques place us at the cusp of understanding complex coupled-channel phenomena, modelling grows more sophisticated, and effective field theories are being applied to an ever greater range of situations. It is thus an opportune time to evaluate the status of the field. In the following, a series of high priority experimental and theoretical issues concerning heavy exotic hadrons is presented.
