We compute various averages over bulk geometries of quantum states prepared by the Chern-Simons path integral, for any level <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>k</mi></math> and compact simple gauge group <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>G</mi></math>. We do so by carefully summing over all topologically distinct bulk geometries which have <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>n</mi></math> disjoint boundary tori and a decomposition into <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>space</mi><mo>×</mo><mi>time</mi></mrow></math> of fixed spatial topology. We find that to leading order in the complexity of the state, the typical state contains many types of multiparty entanglement, proving a conjecture of Balasubramanian et al. Combined with the fact that periodic link states are Greenberger–Horne–Zeilinger (GHZ)-like, this result implies that a generic fibered link state contains non-GHZ entanglement if and only if its link complement is hyperbolic. Additionally, we compute an averaged wave function which captures the leading order statistics of boundary observables in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>n</mi></math> torus Chern-Simons Hilbert space.

Entanglement in typical states of Chern-Simons theory

In this paper, we investigate the thermodynamic properties of spherically symmetric, static black hole solutions within the framework of Conformal Killing Gravity (CKG). This is a modified theory of gravity that retains all solutions of General Relativity, while addressing some of its theoretical shortcomings and enriching gravitational phenomenology at large distances. We derive key thermodynamic quantities, including mass, temperature, heat capacity and Gibbs free energy, to examine the stability and phase structure of extended Schwarzschild–AdS and charged AdS black holes. Furthermore, employing the formalism of geometrothermodynamics, we analyze the behavior of the thermodynamic curvature scalar to identify critical points and characterize phase transitions. Our results demonstrate that the parameter $$ \lambda ,$$ which quantifies deviations from Einstein’s theory, plays a pivotal role in shaping the thermodynamic behavior, resulting in new stability conditions and distinct phase transition patterns compared to those predicted by standard General Relativity.

Black hole thermodynamics in Harada’s inspired theory of gravity: stability, phase structure and geometrothermodynamics

The structure of center vortices is studied in SU(4) Yang-Mills theory for the first time to illuminate the interplay between elementary (center charge <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo>±</mo><mn>1</mn></math>) and doubly charged vortices. Unlike in SU(3), where charge <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo>+</mo><mn>2</mn></math> vortices are simply elementary vortices with reversed orientations in spacetime, these possibilities are physically distinct in SU(4). Visualizations of the vortex structure in three-dimensional slices reveal the various ways in which doubly charged objects manifest, as the convergence and matching of elementary vortices or as isolated doubly charged loops. An algorithm is described to classify every doubly charged chain as one of these three types. A collection of vortex statistics is considered to quantify the vortex structure. Many of these pertain to the novel doubly charged objects, including their relative proportions and chain lengths, which are analyzed to highlight the differences between each chain type. Three different lattice spacings are employed to investigate the approach to the continuum limit. Vortex matching chains are found to be shorter on average but also more prevalent than vortex convergences, ascribed to their interpretation as extended center monopoles. In addition, the lengths of both vortex convergences and vortex matchings are observed to follow an exponential distribution, allowing the introduction of a constant probability for a doubly charged chain to split into two elementary vortices as it propagates. Combined, these findings provide a characterization of the vortices that comprise center-vortex structures in SU(4) Yang-Mills theory.

Structure of center-vortex matter in SU(4) Yang-Mills theory

A lattice implementation of the recently introduced center-symmetric Landau gauge is discussed and its predictions confronted with numerical Monte Carlo simulations. It is shown that the link average and the link correlators computed in that gauge are order parameters of the confinement-deconfinement transition at nonzero temperature. Strictly speaking, this requires a specific treatment of the Gribov copies that we discuss in detail. The numerical simulations comply with the theoretical predictions for the link average computed below and above the deconfinement temperature. Our results show that, within appropriately chosen gauges, one can construct local order parameters for center symmetry, as proxies for the nonlocal Polyakov loop.

Center-symmetric Landau gauge meets the lattice

We present the first systematic investigation of the Lorentz covariance of the charge form factor for a strongly coupled scalar theory in (3+1)-dimensions. Our results are based on the first non-perturbative solution of the scalar Yukawa theory with a Fock sector expansion including up to three-particles (one mock nucleon plus two mock pions or two mock nucleons plus one mock anti-nucleon). The light-front Hamiltonian is constructed and renormalized using a Fock sector dependent scheme. The derived eigenvalue equation is then solved non-perturbatively to obtain the wave functions, which are then used to compute the current matrix element.

Covariant analysis of electromagnetic current on the light cone: exposition with scalar Yukawa theory

A quantum theory of asymptotically flat spacetimes is presented using the solutions of the null surface formulation (NSF) field equations in a perturbative scheme. Free-field commutation relations are given for the null free data of NSF at future or past null infinity, and the main variables of NSF are then used to define the interior points of the spacetime as labels and the metric of the spacetime as a derived quantum operator. A nontrivial scattering of gravitons is given.

Quantum theory of asymptotically flat spacetimes

For the spinning superparticle we construct the pull-back of the world-line path integral to super moduli space in the Hamiltonian formulation. We describe the underlying geometric decomposition of super moduli space. Algebraically, this gives a realization of the cyclic complex. The resulting space-time action is classically equivalent to Yang-Mills theory up to boundary terms and additional non-local interactions.

Yang-Mills theory from super moduli space

Motivated by the updated high luminosity (HL)-LHC projections for Higgs pair production from ATLAS and CMS and by the release of the FCC-ee feasibility study, we critically revisit the sensitivity of the global standard model effective field theory (SMEFT) analysis to deformations of the Higgs self-coupling modifier <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mn>3</mn></msub></math>. To this end, we quantify the impact of SMEFT operators modifying double Higgs production at the LHC and single Higgs production, including loop corrections, at the FCC-ee, and include renormalization group evolution throughout. We demonstrate that significantly improving on the legacy HL-LHC constraints on <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>κ</mi><mn>3</mn></msub></math> at the FCC-ee is not possible without the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>365</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math> run; that individual and marginalized determinations are similar at the HL-LHC while differing by up to a factor 3 at the FCC-ee; and that quadratic EFT corrections cannot be neglected, especially at the (HL-)LHC. This finding fundamentally alters the picture compared to strategic planning often based on one-parameter projections. Overall, the combination of HL-LHC and FCC-ee data offers unique potential to pin down the Higgs self-coupling with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo>∼</mo><mn>15</mn><mo>%</mo></math> precision.

Higgs trilinear coupling in the standard model effective field theory at the high luminosity LHC and the FCC-ee

The deflection of light in the gravitational field of a massive body can be analyzed through diverse theoretical approaches. The null geodesic approach is commonly employed to calculate light deflection within strong and weak field limits. Alternatively, several studies have explored the gravitational deflection of light using the material medium approach. For a static, non-rotating spherical mass, the deflection in a Schwarzschild field can be determined by expressing the metric in an isotropic form and evaluating the refractive index to trace the light ray’s trajectory. In this study, we extend the above-mentioned approach to the Kerr–Sen black hole spacetime in heterotic string theory, a solution representing a rotating, charged solution in heterotic string theory. The frame-dragging effects inherent to the Kerr–Sen geometry are incorporated to compute the velocity of light rays, enabling the derivation of the refractive index in this field. Considering the far-field approximation, we calculate the deflection of light in the Kerr–Sen spacetime and compare our results with those obtained for the Kerr and Schwarzschild black hole solution in GR.

Deflection of light due to Kerr Sen black hole in heterotic string theory using material medium approach

This research work investigates the holographic dark energy cosmological model in the n-dimensional Kaluza–Klein space-time in the scalar–tensor theory of gravitation proposed by Brans–Dicke. A deterministic solution of the field equations is obtained and physical and kinematical properties of the obtained model are analysed through graphical representation. The density parameters of the dark matter and holographic dark energy are examined in detail. Also, the stability of cosmological model is ensured by using perturbation of metric. Furthermore, the diagnostic tools such as jerk parameter, statefinder pair, energy conditions and $$\omega _{\lambda } -{\omega }'_{\lambda }$$ plane are also studied to study the cosmological evolution.
