We explore the impact of loop effects on positivity in effective field theories emerging in the infrared from unitary and causal microscopic dynamics. Focusing on massless particles coupled to gravity, we address the treatment of forward-limit divergences from loop discontinuities and establish necessary conditions for maintaining computational control in perturbation theory. While loop effects remain small, ensuring consistency in our approach leads to a significant impact on bounds, even at tree level.

Erratum: Higgs boson pair production in non-linear Effective Field Theory with full $\textit{m}$

The current projected sensitivity on the electromagnetic coupling <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>α</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>em</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi>m</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>Z</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> represents a bottleneck for the precision electroweak program at FCC-ee. We propose a novel methodology to extract this coupling directly from <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>Z</mi></math>-pole data. By comparing the differential distribution of electrons, muons, and positrons in the forward region, the approach achieves a projected statistical sensitivity below the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>5</mn></mrow></msup></math> level, representing a significant improvement over other methods. We assess the impact of leading parametric uncertainties including that of the top quark mass.

We propose a novel method to determine the strong coupling of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and fix its running behavior at all scales by using the Bjorken sum rules (BSR). The BSR defines an effective coupling <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mi>α</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>g</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>Q</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> which includes the nonperturbative higher-twist corrections and perturbative QCD (pQCD) corrections to the leading-twist part. For the leading-twist part of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>α</mi><mi>s</mi><msub><mi>g</mi><mn>1</mn></msub></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>Q</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>, we adopt the infinite-order scale-setting procedure of the principle of maximum conformality (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>PMC</mi><mi>∞</mi></msub></math>) to deal with its pQCD corrections, which reveals the intrinsic conformality of the series and eliminates conventional renormalization scheme-and-scale ambiguities. Using the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>PMC</mi><mi>∞</mi></msub></math> approach, we not only eliminate the first kind of residual scale dependence due to uncalculated higher-order terms, but also resolve the previous “self-consistency problem.” The light-front holographic QCD model is used for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>α</mi><mi>s</mi><msub><mi>g</mi><mn>1</mn></msub></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>Q</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> in the infrared region, which also reveals a conformal behavior at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>Q</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mn>0</mn></math>. The low-energy, finite-volume spectrum of the two-nucleon system at a quark mass corresponding to a pion mass of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>m</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow></msub><mo>≈</mo><mn>806</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>MeV</mi></mrow></math> is studied with lattice quantum chromodynamics (LQCD) using variational methods. The interpolating-operator sets used in [Variational study of two-nucleon systems with lattice QCD, <a href="http://dx.doi.org/10.1103/PhysRevD.107.094508">Phys. Rev. D 107, 094508 (2023)</a>.] are extended by including a complete basis of local hexaquark operators, as well as plane-wave dibaryon operators built from products of both positive- and negative-parity nucleon operators. Results are presented for the isosinglet and isotriplet two-nucleon channels. In both channels, noticeably weaker variational bounds on the lowest few energy eigenvalues are obtained from operator sets which contain only hexaquark operators or operators constructed from the product of two negative-parity nucleons, while other operator sets produce low-energy variational bounds which are consistent within statistical uncertainties. The consequences of these studies for the LQCD understanding of the two-nucleon spectrum are investigated.

Constraints on the finite volume two-nucleon spectrum at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>m</mi><mi>π</mi></msub><mo>≈</mo><mn>806</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>MeV</mi></math>

We compute next-to-leading order QCD corrections to the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>1</mn><mo>/</mo><msubsup><mi>m</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup></math> terms of the heavy quark expansion, for the contribution to inclusive nonleptonic bottom hadron decays, induced by the charged-current operators mediating the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>c</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>c</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>s</mi></math> transition. Their contributions to the lifetimes are Cabibbo favored and have large Wilson coefficients, but they have not been computed before, since the presence of two heavy quarks in the final state makes this calculation technically demanding. This work adds the last missing piece of the full NLO terms at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>1</mn><mo>/</mo><msubsup><mi>m</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup></math> in the heavy quark expansion of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi></math>-hadron lifetimes. We obtain analytical results with full dependence on the final-state charm quark mass.

With the Wilson coefficients including contributions beyond the standard model, the lifetimes of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi></math> meson and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>B</mi><mi>d</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msubsup><mover accent="true"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>d</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math> mixing are investigated to clarify correlations among the observables. We show that parameter regions for quasielastic rescattering, the size of color-suppressed tree amplitudes, and new physics are constrained due to the lifetime data. As a consequence, it is revealed that this scenario can be tested by the future LHCb measurement of the width difference in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>B</mi><mi>d</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup><mo>−</mo><msubsup><mover accent="true"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>d</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math> mixing and semileptonic <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> asymmetry.

DarkSide-20k is a novel liquid argon dark matter detector currently under construction at the Laboratori Nazionali del Gran Sasso (LNGS) of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare (INFN) that will push the sensitivity for Weakly Interacting Massive Particle (WIMP) detection into the neutrino fog. The core of the apparatus is a dual-phase Time Projection Chamber (TPC), filled with 50 tonnes of low radioactivity underground argon (UAr) acting as the WIMP target. NUV-HD-cryo Silicon Photomultipliers (SiPM)s designed by Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK) (Trento, Italy) were selected as the photon sensors covering two $$10.5~\text {m}^2$$ Optical Planes, one at each end of the TPC, and a total of $$5~\text {m}^2$$ photosensitive surface for the liquid argon veto detectors. This paper describes the Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) plan and procedures accompanying the production of FBK NUV-HD-cryo SiPM wafers manufactured by LFoundry s.r.l. (Avezzano, AQ, Italy). SiPM characteristics are measured at 77 K at the wafer level with a custom-designed probe station. As of March 2025, 1314 of the 1400 production wafers (94% of the total) for DarkSide-20k were tested. The wafer yield is $$93.2\pm 2.5$$ %, which exceeds the 80% specification defined in the original DarkSide-20k production plan.

Quality assurance and quality control of the $$26~\text {m}^2$$ SiPM production for the DarkSide-20k dark matter experiment

We study twisted M-theory in a general conifold background, and describe it in terms of a 5d non-commutative Chern-Simons-matter theory, which is equivalent to 5d non-commutative Chern-Simons theory for a supergroup. In an equivalent description as twisted type IIA string theory, the matter degrees of freedom arise from topological strings stretched between stacks of D6-branes. In order to study 5d Chern-Simons-matter theories with a boundary, we first construct and investigate the properties of a 4d non-commutative gauged chiral WZW model. We prove the gauge invariant coupling of this 4d theory to the bulk 5d Chern-Simons theory defined on ℝ × ℂ , and further generalize our results to the 5d Chern-Simons-matter theory. We also investigate the toroidal current algebra of the 4d chiral WZW model that arises from radial quantization along one of the complex planes. Finally, we show that a gauged non-commutative chiral 4d WZW model arises from the partition function for quantum 5d non-commutative Chern-Simons theory with boundaries in the BV-BFV formalism, and further generalize this 5d-4d correspondence to the 5d non-commutative Chern-Simons-matter theory for the case of adjoint matter.

5d-4d correspondence in twisted M-theory on a conifold

We demonstrate that the scalar-mediator dark-matter scenario is consistent with the experimental data on the decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>K</mi><msub><mi>M</mi><mi>X</mi></msub></math> and provides a good description of the shape of the observed excess. Within this scenario, the interaction with dark-matter particles leads to approximately the same excess in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>*</mo></msup><msub><mi>M</mi><mi>X</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>B</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>K</mi><msub><mi>M</mi><mi>X</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> compared to the Standard Model; also the differential distributions of the excess events are similar in shape in the variable <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>q</mi><mi>rec</mi><mn>2</mn></msubsup></math> measured by experiment.
