We report the measurements of proton-deuteron ( <italic>p</italic>- <italic>d</italic>) and deuteron-deuteron ( <italic>d</italic>- <italic>d</italic>) correlation functions in Au+Au collisions at <math altimg='si1.svg'><msqrt><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow><mrow><mi mathvariant='normal'>NN</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></msqrt></math> = 3 GeV using fixed-target mode with the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC). For the first time, the source size ( <math altimg='si2.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>R</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>G</mi></mrow></msub></math>), scattering length ( <math altimg='si3.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>f</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>), and effective range ( <math altimg='si4.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>d</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math>) are extracted from the measured correlation functions with a simultaneous fit. The spin-averaged <math altimg='si3.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>f</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub></math> for <italic>p</italic>- <italic>d</italic> and <italic>d</italic>- <italic>d</italic> interactions are determined to be -5.28 &#177; 0.11(stat.) &#177; 0.82(syst.) fm and -2.62 &#177; 0.02(stat.) &#177; 0.24(syst.) fm, respectively. The measured <italic>p</italic>- <italic>d</italic> interaction is consistent with theoretical calculations and low-energy scattering experiment results, demonstrating the feasibility of extracting interaction parameters using the femtoscopy technique. The reasonable agreement between the experimental data and the calculations from the transport model indicates that deuteron production in these collisions is primarily governed by nucleon coalescence.

Light nuclei femtoscopy and baryon interactions in 3 GeV Au+Au collisions at RHIC

We report directed flow ( <math altimg='si1.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>v</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></math>) of multistrange baryons (&#926; and &#937;) and improved <math altimg='si1.svg'><msub><mrow><mi>v</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub></math> data for <math altimg='si2.svg'><msup><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo linebreak='badbreak' linebreakstyle='after'>&#8722;</mo></mrow></msup></math>, <math altimg='si3.svg'><mover accent='true'><mrow><mi>p</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy='false'>&#175;</mo></mrow></mover></math>, <math altimg='si4.svg'><mover accent='true'><mrow><mi mathvariant='normal'>&#923;</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy='false'>&#175;</mo></mrow></mover></math> and <italic>&#981;</italic> in Au+Au collisions at <math altimg='si5.svg'><msqrt><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow><mrow><mi mathvariant='normal'>NN</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></msqrt><mo linebreak='goodbreak' linebreakstyle='after'>=</mo></math>27 and 200 GeV from the STAR experiment at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC). We focus on particles whose constituent quarks are not transported from the incoming nuclei but instead are produced in the collisions. At intermediate impact parameters, we examine quark coalescence behavior for particle combinations with identical quark content, and search for any departure from this behavior (&#8220;splitting&#8221;) for combinations having non-identical quark content. Under the assumption of quark coalescence for produced quarks, the splitting strength appears to increase with the electric charge difference of the constituent quarks in the combinations, consistent with electromagnetic effect expectations.
