A new measurement of the $^{65}$Cu($\textit{γ}$, $\textit{n}$)$^{64}$Cu photoneutron cross section is performed using quasi-monoenergetic, tunable $\textit{γ}$-ray beams produced at the Shanghai Laser Electron Gamma Source (SLEGS). The energy spectrum of the SLEGS $\textit{γ}$-ray beams incident on the isotopically enriched $^{65}$Cu target is monitored using a BGO detector, while the photoneutron yields are determined with a moderated $^{3}$He detection array with high and flat efficiency. Within the energy range of $10.1 \le E_\gamma \le 17.6$ MeV, the measured $\sigma(E_\gamma)$ data have an uncertainty of $\lesssim 4$ %, and a pronounced giant-dipole peak is observed at $E_\gamma \simeq 16.65$ MeV with a maximal cross section of $\sigma_{\text{max}} \simeq 137$ mb. These photoneutron data are compared with previous experimental results and are employed to extract the $\textit{γ}$-ray strength function of $^{65}$Cu above the neutron threshold. Furthermore, we calculate the radiative neutron capture cross sections and astrophysical reaction rates for $^{64}$Cu, which is a short-lived intermediate nucleus whose reaction rate controls the local abundance distribution in the weak $\textit{s}$-process. It is found that the calculated $^{64}$Cu($\textit{n,}$ $\textit{γ}$)$^{65}$Cu data have an overall agreement with ENDF/B-VIII.0, JEFF-3.3, and TENDL-2023 evaluations, and the corresponding astrophysical reaction rates are consistent with those reported in the JINA REACLIB database.

Photoneutron cross section measurements on $^{65}$Cu: toward understanding ($\textit{n,}$ $\textit{γ}$) cross sections relevant to weak $\textit{s}$-process nucleosynthesis * This work was supported by the National Key Research and Development Program (2023YFA1606901), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (12575133, 12505144)

Using the pinch technique, we determine the one-loop vertices of weak interactions in the B-LSSM and incorporate their pinch contributions into the gauge boson self-energies. Compared to the definitions of the $\textit{S}$, $\textit{T}$, and $\textit{U}$ parameters in the Standard Model based on the $S U(2)_L \otimes U(1)_Y$ group, the corresponding parameters in the local B-L gauge symmetry (B-LSSM) are modified. We present these redefined $\textit{S}$, $\textit{T}$, and $\textit{U}$ parameters and demonstrate the convergence of the results. In the framework of the low-energy effective Lagrangian for weak interactions, the $\textit{S}$, $\textit{T}$, and $\textit{U}$ parameters can be expressed as functions of specific parameters in the B-LSSM. The updated experimental and fitting results strongly constrain the parameter space of the B-LSSM.

In a recent work, we argued that the net quark number gained by a bath of quarks and gluons upon bringing an external static quark probe, while being equal to 1 in the high temperature, deconfined phase, is equal to 0 or 3 in the low temperature, confined phase, depending on the value of the quark chemical potential. This establishes a clear-cut connection between the confinement of a medium as probed by order parameters such as the Polyakov loop, and the ability of that same medium to screen the quark probe into states with the same net quark content as mesons or baryons. In this work, we extend these findings to the SU(<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math>) color group, consider color probes in various (fundamental and nonfundamental) representations, and conjecture a rationale of how these results could be recovered from a purely thermodynamic argument that shortcuts the use of the Euclidean functional framework, while emphasizing the role of color <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math>-ality as a proxy for center symmetry within the Minkowskian framework.

SU(<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math>) confinement and color <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math>-ality

We propose an integrability approach for planar three-point functions at finite coupling in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 superconformal field theories obtained as $\textit{ℤ}$ orbifolds of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills (SYM). Generalizing the hexagon formalism for $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SYM, we reproduce the structure constants of Coulomb branch operators, previously obtained by supersymmetric localization, as exact functions of the ’t Hooft coupling. Our analysis explains the common physical origin of Fredholm kernels in integrability and localization, and hints at structures after the resummation in the hexagon formalism. Notably, we conjecture an all-loop, all-magnon expression for the wrapping contribution, that we checked against the Fredholm determinant result. We were also able to check that the first few magnon contributions are consistent with the factorized form of the final result.

Exact three-point functions in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 superconformal field theories: integrability vs. localization

We develop a manifest supertwistor space formalism for three dimensional $$ \mathcal{N}=1,2,3,4 $$ superconformal field theories. This formalism simultaneously makes manifest the supersymmetry, conformal invariance and conservation. We solve two and three point correlators of (half) integer spin conserved supercurrents using the graded supergroup generators. Apart from the superconformal generators, we find that the superhelicity operators are necessary to fix their functional form in this setup. The superhelicity operators can be recast into first order Euler equations which besides the standard rational solutions, also admit weak solutions that are distributional in nature. They play an important role in the case of three point functions, where the supercorrelator takes the form of a product of delta functions. Interestingly, we find that these supercorrelators are extremely simple, elegant and uniform for all spins and for all $$ \mathcal{N}\le 4 $$ , which resemble the non supersymmetric correlators where the twistors are replaced with appropriately defined supertwistors.

A supertwistor formalism for $$ \mathcal{N}=1,2,3,4 $$ SCFT3

A search for dark matter particles produced in association with a Higgs boson decaying to a bottom quark-antiquark pair in proton-proton collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msqrt><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>13</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>TeV</mi></mrow></math> is presented. The data, collected with the CMS detector at the LHC, correspond to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>101</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mrow><mi>fb</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math>. The analysis is performed in exclusive categories targeting both Lorentz-boosted (merged) and resolved <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi></math> jet pair topologies, covering a wide range of Higgs boson transverse momentum. A statistical combination is made with a previous search using data collected in 2016 and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>35.9</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mrow><mi>fb</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math>. The observed data agree with the standard model background predictions. Constraints are placed on models predicting new particles or interactions, such as those in the simplified frameworks of baryonic-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>Z</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>′</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>HDM</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>a</mi></mrow></math>, where the latter is a type-II two-Higgs-doublet model featuring a heavy pseudoscalar with an additional light pseudoscalar. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the production cross section for these models. For the baryonic-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>Z</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>′</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> model, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>Z</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>′</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> boson masses below 2.25 TeV are excluded for a dark matter particle candidate mass of 1 GeV. In the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>2</mn><mi>HDM</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>a</mi></mrow></math> model, heavy pseudoscalar masses between 850 and 1300 GeV are excluded for a light pseudoscalar mass of 350 GeV.

The Higgs boson (H) decay width is determined from the ratio of off- and on-shell production of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>H</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>W</mi><mi>W</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>e</mi><mi>ν</mi><mi>μ</mi><mi>ν</mi></math> using proton–proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>138</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>fb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math> collected at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>13</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>TeV</mi></math> by the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The off-shell signal strength is measured as <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>μ</mi><mrow><mi>off</mi><mtext>−</mtext><mi>shell</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><msubsup><mn>1.2</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>0.7</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.8</mn></mrow></msubsup></math>. The Higgs boson total decay width is <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi><mi>H</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><msubsup><mn>3.9</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>2.2</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>2.7</mn></mrow></msubsup><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>MeV</mi></math>, in agreement with the standard model prediction. The uncertainty in this result represents a factor of 3 improvement over the previous CMS result in this decay channel.

We study methods for efficient preparation of approximate ground states of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> lattice gauge theory on quantum hardware. Working in a variant of the electric basis, we introduce a refinement of the irrep truncation based on the energy density of site singlets, which provides a finer gradation of simulation complexity. Using strong-coupling perturbation theory as a guide, we develop simple ansatz circuits for ground state preparation and test them via classical simulation on small lattices, including the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>2</mn><mo>×</mo><mn>2</mn></math> plaquette lattice in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>d</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>2</mn></math> and the cube in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>d</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>3</mn></math>. We contrast state fidelities and resource requirements of variational methods against adiabatic state preparation and introduce a method that hybridizes the two approaches. Finally, we report on the public release of ymcirc—a package of tools for building <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> circuits and processing measurements—and pyclebsch, a package for efficiently computing <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> Clebsch–Gordan coefficients.

Perturbation theory, irrep truncations, and state preparation methods for quantum simulations of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> lattice gauge theory

We study $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills theory compactified on an S at zero temperature, with VEVs for two scalar bilinears and three independent current sources. We show that type IIB supergravity provides a complete holographic description of this setup, admitting both supersymmetric and non-supersymmetric AdS-soliton solutions that are asymptotically AdS and smooth in the IR. The current sources correspond in 2+1 dimensions to Q-ball charge densities for U(1) ⊂ SO(6) , and are geometrically realized as twists along three angular directions of the S . We demonstrate that the bulk dynamics encodes the full vacuum structure of the dual field theory and explicitly reconstruct the supersymmetric moduli space.

Moduli space of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills from AdS/CFT

From the classical $$ \mathrm{SO}\left(\mathcal{N}=8\right) $$ extended superconformal algebra between the lowest $$ \mathcal{N}=8 $$ multiplet in two dimensions obtained by Ademollo et al. (1976), we generalize it for the arbitrary $$ \mathcal{N}=8 $$ multiplet with manifest SU(8) symmetry containing the bosonic $\textit{w}$ algebra. By modifying this $$ \mathcal{N}=8 $$ supersymmetric $\textit{w}$ algebra in two dimensions, we propose a consistent celestial soft current algebra between the graviton, the gravitinos, the graviphotons, the graviphotinos, and the scalars in the $$ \mathcal{N}=8 $$ supergravity theory with SO(8) (or SU(8)) global symmetry in four dimensions initiated by de Wit and Freedman (at Stony Brook in 1977). The twenty five couplings in this celestial algebra can be written in terms of eight arbitrary couplings via the Jacobi identity.
