The quark-mass dependence of the $ N^*(920) $ pole is analyzed using the $\textit{K}$-matrix method, with the $ \pi N $ scattering amplitude calculated up to the $ O(p^3) $ order in the chiral perturbation theory. As the quark mass increases, the $ N^*(920) $ pole gradually approaches the real axis in the complex $\textit{w}$-plane (where $ w=\sqrt{s} $ ). Eventually, in the $ O(p^2) $ case, it crosses the $\textit{u}$-cut on the real axis and enters the adjacent Riemann sheet when the pion mass reaches $ 526\; {\rm{MeV}} $ . At order $ O(p^3) $ , the rate at which it approaches the real axis decreases; however, it remains uncertain whether it will ultimately cross the $\textit{u}$-cut and enter the adjacent Riemann sheet. In addition, the trajectory of the $N^*(920)$ pole is in qualitative agreement with the results from the linear $\textit{σ}$ model calculation.

This paper is aimed at improving thermal bootstrapping methods for matrix quantum mechanics. The thermal energies of the large-$\textit{N}$ one-matrix anharmonic oscillator and large-$\textit{N}$ two-matrix anharmonic oscillator are bounded without logarithmic relaxation using the Quantum Information Conic Solver. For the one-matrix model, which can be interpreted using an effective theory of “long strings” in the low temperature limit, stricter bootstrap bounds yield a value of the first long string excited energy within 0$\textit{.}$001% of the physical value and the first estimation from symmetry and self-consistency equations alone of the first long string coupling coefficient.

Thermal bootstrap of large-$\textit{N}$ matrix models via conic optimization

We compute three-loop corrections to the three-point form factor of the operator <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>tr</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mrow><mi>ϕ</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">N</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>4</mn></math> supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory. In particular, our result is valid beyond the leading-color limit and will consequently be an important input towards extending the amplitude-bootstrap program beyond the leading-color approximation. We find that our analytic formulae are strikingly compact expressions in terms of integer linear combinations of generalized polylogarithms of weight six.

Constrained Padé ensembles for thermal <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">N</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>4</mn></mrow></math> SYM: Quantified uncertainties and next-order predictions

We investigate the (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>2</mn><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></math>)-dimensional <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>q</mi></math>-deformed <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>SU</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>N</mi><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>k</mi></msub></math> Yang-Mills theory in the lattice Hamiltonian formalism, which is characterized by three parameters: the number of colors <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>N</mi></math>, the coupling constant <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>g</mi></math>, and the level <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>k</mi></math>. By treating these as tunable parameters, we explore how key properties of the theory, such as confinement and topological order, emerge in different regimes. Employing a variational mean-field analysis that interpolates between the strong- and weak-coupling regimes, we determine the large-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>N</mi></math> phase structure in terms of the ’t Hooft coupling <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>λ</mi><mi>tH</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><msup><mi>g</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><mi>N</mi></math> and the ratio <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>k</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>N</mi></math>. We find that the topologically ordered phase remains robust at large <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>N</mi></math> under appropriate scalings of these parameters. This result indicates that the continuum limit of large-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>N</mi></math> gauge theory may be more intricate than naively expected, and it motivates studies beyond the mean-field theory, both to achieve a further understanding of confinement in gauge theories and to guide quantum simulations of large-<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>N</mi></math> gauge theories.

Recent lattice QCD simulations and phenomenological models indicate that the nucleon’s gravitational form factor <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>t</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> remains remarkably small at finite momentum transfer <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>t</mi></math>. While <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>0</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mn>0</mn></math> is a known consequence of the equivalence principle, the physical origin of its suppression at finite <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>t</mi></math> has not been fully elucidated. In this work, we demonstrate that the smallness of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>t</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> arises from a fundamental cancellation within the nucleon’s wave functions. Using light-front holographic QCD, we show that <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>t</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> is governed by an antisymmetric factor in the longitudinal dynamics that leads to an exact vanishing in the symmetric limit and significant suppression for realistic nucleon structures. Our results suggest that the smallness of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>t</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> is a signature of the nucleon’s dominant S-wave character, providing a formal justification for its frequent omission in practical applications like near-threshold <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math> production.

Origin of the nucleon gravitational form factor <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>B</mi><mi>N</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>t</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>: Exposition in light-front holographic QCD

The 83Se nucleus was studied in the context of shape coexistence employing a 82Se(d,p) 83Se reaction performed in inverse kinematics with the GALILEO-II + SPIDER setup to reach the desired selectivity on the reaction channel of interest via <italic>&#947;</italic>-particle coincidences. The lifetimes of the 1/2 <math altimg='si1.svg'><msup><mrow /><mo>+</mo></msup></math> 540-keV and 3/2 <math altimg='si15.svg'><msubsup><mrow /><mn>3</mn><mo>+</mo></msubsup></math> 1100-keV low-lying intruder states of 83Se were measured for the first time by employing the Recoil Distance Doppler Shift and the Doppler Shift Attenuation Method. The deduced transition probabilities, together with the mixing ratios obtained from a separate neutron-capture experiment performed at ILL with the FIPPS array, are compared and discussed in the framework of shell-model calculations performed with the PFSDG-U Hamiltonian. Large transition probabilities of hundreds of <italic>e</italic> 2 <italic>fm</italic> 4 were found for the <italic>E</italic>2 decays of the states built on top of the intruders, pointing to the development of quadrupole collectivity and large deformation in the proximity of <math altimg='si14.svg'><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mn>50</mn></mrow></math> shell closure.

Development of deformed intruder structures along the <math altimg='si14.svg'><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mn>50</mn></mrow></math> magic number: Insights from 83Se

We study the one-loop partition function of superstrings in the AdS × × × background. Specifically, we show that the supergravity spectrum, which contains non-chiral primary states unlike other similar AdS backgrounds, can be recovered by this partition function in the semiclassical limit. We also show how the boundary currents are encoded in the string spectrum. Furthermore, we discuss the effect of these boundary currents in the quantum partition function of near-extremal black holes in theories with large $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (4, 4) supersymmetry, recovering results consistent with the analysis of the near-horizon (super-)Schwarzian theory. In particular, we show how the BPS index of the large $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = (4, 4) theory, which turns out to be temperature dependent, captures the spectrum of excitations around supersymmetric BTZ black holes. Finally, we comment on the limit when the AdS curvature radius is string scale, which is directly accessible within the RNS formalism for this compactification. The spectrum of the limiting theory we obtain differs from the tensionless string spectrum derived in the literature, suggesting that there is not a unique worldsheet CFT for this value of parameters.

Strings and near-extremal black holes in theories with large $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 superconformal symmetry

We propose a SymTFT for 4d U($\textit{N}$) Yang-Mills theory and its variants. We show that the SymTFT reproduces the structure of the global one-form symmetry in these theories. We consider the holographic embedding of this SymTFT, and observe that SymTFT’s containing continuous symmetries are not always obtained as a near boundary limit of the supergravity action.

The SymTFT of $\textit{u}$($\textit{N}$) Yang-Mills Theory and holography

We initiate the study of infinite-distance limits on (complex) multi-dimensional conformal manifolds of 4d SCFTs and their bulk interpretation as tensionless-string limits in AdS/CFT. In particular, we focus on 4d $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 $\textit{SU}$ quiver gauge theories with hypermultiplets in the bifundamental and fundamental representations. In the overall-free limit, we compute the large-$\textit{N}$ Hagedorn temperature $\textit{T}$ , which governs the stringy exponential growth of the density of states at high energies. We argue that this quantity determines the type of stringy ultraviolet completion in the bulk: it captures the type of string theory in which the bulk physics is embedded while remaining insensitive to detailed geometric data. For linear quivers, we find that $\textit{T}$ depends only on the quiver length, which is tied to the number of NS5-branes in the underlying brane construction and, in turn, to the string theory in which the bulk is embedded. For holographic quivers, where we impose that the two central charges $\textit{a}$ and $\textit{c}$ coincide in the large-$\textit{N}$ limit, we show that $\textit{T}$ coincides with that of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SYM, which befits the 10d Type IIB description of their gravitational duals. We also analyze the exponential rate $\textit{α}$, which controls how the leading tower of higher-spin currents becomes conserved in these limits, as suggested by the CFT Distance Conjecture. In the large-$\textit{N}$ regime, we derive sharp bounds on the minimal rate, $$ 1/\sqrt{2} $$ ≤ $\textit{α}$ ≤ $$ \sqrt{2/3} $$ , attained in the overall-free limit. Moreover, we prove that the universal lower bound $\textit{α}$ ≥ $$ 1/\sqrt{2} $$ holds, including at finite $\textit{N}$. Finally, we go beyond the overall-free ray by characterizing the convex hull of the $$ \overrightarrow{\alpha} $$ -vectors that encode the exponential rate of the higher-spin towers along any (partial) weak-coupling limit.
