We compute B-type Weyl anomaly coefficients for the two non-supersymmetric codimension-1 domain wall versions of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills theory which are holographically dual to the D3-D7 probe-brane system. We compute the two-point function of the (improved) energy-momentum tensor in the presence of the domain wall, to leading order in perturbation theory. From it we determine the two-point function of the corresponding displacement operator and the $\textit{b}$ anomaly coefficient for both domain wall systems.

B-type anomaly coefficients for the D3-D7 domain wall

The femtoscopic <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>D</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>D</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> correlation functions are investigated to predict the signature of the not-yet-established <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>X</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3700</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> state. Here it is interpreted as a bound state generated by solving the coupled-channel Bethe-Salpeter equations with the local hidden-gauge formalism. We prospect how the relevant properties and observables characterizing this state—like the pole position, scattering lengths and compositeness—might be affected by the variation of the parameters of the model. The amplitudes are then used as input into the momentum correlation functions of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mover accent="true"><mi>D</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mn>0</mn></msup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> pairs. We discuss how their behaviors encode the features of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>X</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3700</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> state.

In the Arkani-Hamed-Dimopoulos-Dvali (ADD) model with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>n</mi></math> extra compactified dimensions, the gravitational potential scales as <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>1</mn><mo>/</mo><msup><mrow><mi>r</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>n</mi><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math> and becomes significantly stronger at short distances. We investigate the possibility of forming small-sized composite systems of Standard Model particles bound by this potential. Such bound states, composed of quarks, neutrinos, axions or other particles, exhibit a small cross-section-to-mass ratio, making them viable candidates for dark matter.

Microscopic composite systems bound by strong gravity in extra dimensions as candidates for dark matter

To search for $$\beta \beta 0\nu $$ decay with unprecedented sensitivity, the R2D2 collaboration is developing a radial time projection chamber with a fiducial mass of half a tonne of $$^{136}$$ Xe at high pressure. The various approaches implemented to eliminate the radioactive background are presented in terms of detector design, topological recognition of interactions, and event energy reconstruction. The developed tools enable the disentangling of the sought-after signal from the background. The projected sensitivity after ten years of data taking yields a half-life limit exceeding $$10^{27}$$ years, along with a constraint on the effective neutrino mass $$m_{\beta \beta }$$ that could cover a large fraction of the inverted mass hierarchy region, depending on the final experimental background.

Simulation of a radial TPC for the detection of neutrinoless double beta decay

Gravitational particle production in cosmology is a mechanism through which particles of different natures are produced during the very early universe. It is a general mechanism that explains how the universe became populated with the particles of the Standard Model after cosmic inflation and may also account for the origin of dark matter. In this work, we study the non-perturbative production of massive scalar particles in the Higgs- $$R^2$$ inflation model, a two-field scalar inflation model within the Einstein frame. We consider spectator scalar fields that are conformally or minimally coupled to the gravitational field through the curvature scalar $\textit{R}$ which in turn is a time-dependent function determined by the fields driving inflationary dynamics. We numerically compute the production of these particles using the Bogolyubov transformation method for each scenario, aiming to assess the spectrum of the produced particles. For both scenarios, we consider light particles with masses $$m_\chi \ll H_{\textrm{end}}$$ and large masses that exceed the Hubble scale at the end of inflation $$m_\chi \gtrsim H_{\textrm{end}}.$$ We use these numerical results to calculate the relic abundance $$\Omega _\chi h^2$$ to find out if the model is viable as a dark matter candidate.

Non-perturbative approach for scalar particle production in Higgs- $$R^2$$ inflation

We compute a complete set of the two-loop Feynman integrals that are required for the next-to-next-to-leading order QCD corrections to on-shell top-pair production in association with a $\textit{W}$ boson at hadron colliders in the leading colour approximation. These Feynman integrals also contribute to Higgs or $\textit{Z}$-boson production in association with a top pair. We employ the method of differential equations (DEs), facilitated by the use of finite field methods to handle the algebraic complexity stemming from the seven-scale kinematics. The presence of the top quark in the virtual propagators, in addition to the mass of the external $\textit{W}$ boson, gives rise to nested square roots and three elliptic curves. We obtain DEs that depend at most quadratically on the dimensional regulator $\textit{ϵ}$ for sectors where these analytic structures appear, and are $\textit{ϵ}$-factorised otherwise. We express the DEs in terms of a minimal set of differential one-forms, separating the logarithmic ones. We solve the DEs numerically in the physical kinematic region, with the method of generalised power series expansions.

Two-loop Feynman integrals for leading colour $$ t\overline{t}W $$ production at hadron colliders

We study discrete series representations of SL(2, $\textit{ℝ}$) with half-integer scaling dimension ∆. At the classical level, we show that these UIRs are realised in the space of mode solutions of spinor fields with $\textit{imaginary mass parameters}$ on a fixed two-dimensional de Sitter, dS , background. Upon such tuning of the mass, the field develops a fermionic shift symmetry that we characterise. We show that in the Euclidean section this manifests itself in the presence of zero-modes which preclude the definition of a Hadamard two-point function for these UIRs. We propose a Euclidean procedure to deal with the zero-modes, define a two-point function with the right singularity structure, and analyse its late-time behaviour. We end this note by proposing two interacting theories containing the fermionic discrete series in their spectrum.

Quite discrete for a fermion

We present results for the dominant light-quark connected contribution to the long-distance window of the hadronic vacuum polarization (HVP) contribution to the muon <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>g</mi><mo>−</mo><mn>2</mn></math> from lattice quantum chromodynamics. Hadronic Vacuum Polarization for the Muon <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>g</mi><mo>−</mo><mn>2</mn></mrow></math> from Lattice QCD: Long-Distance and Full Light-Quark Connected Contribution

The cross sections for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mo>→</mo><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mi>η</mi></mrow></math> reaction are evaluated at energies relevant for the HADES, PANDA, and SIS100 experiments at GSI-FAIR (Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research). Consideration includes the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>η</mi></math>-bremsstrahlung mechanism involving intermediate proton exchange via the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi>π</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>η</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><msup><mi>ρ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>ω</mi></math> exchanges and the mechanism involving the nucleon resonances <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>(</mo><mn>1535</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>(</mo><mn>1650</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>(</mo><mn>1710</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>(</mo><mn>1880</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math> excited via the pseudoscalar- and/or vector-meson exchanges, depending on the model. The role of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>ω</mi><mi>ω</mi></mrow></math>- and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msup><mi>ρ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mi>ρ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></mrow></math>-fusion processes with the Reggeized vector-meson exchanges is also discussed. The calculation is done in an effective Lagrangian approach. To determine the parameters of the model, the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>γ</mi><mi>p</mi><mo>→</mo><mi>η</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><mi>p</mi><mo>→</mo><mi>η</mi><mi>n</mi></mrow></math> reactions are studied and the results are then compared with the Crystal Ball and CLAS data. For the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mo>→</mo><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mi>η</mi></mrow></math> reaction, the model results are compared with the energy dependence of the cross section measured far from the threshold and with the differential distributions <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>d</mi><mi>σ</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>d</mi><mo form="prefix">cos</mo><msub><mi>θ</mi><mi>η</mi></msub></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>d</mi><mi>σ</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>d</mi><msub><mi>p</mi><mi>η</mi></msub></mrow></math> measured by the DISTO Collaboration. The comparison shows that the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>(</mo><mn>1535</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow></math> resonance is the dominant contribution and that other contributions are also important due to interference effects. Assuming that the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>ρ</mi></math> exchange is the dominant resonant excitation process, the model is able to describe the available data, e.g., it reproduces the shape of the angular distributions measured by the DISTO Collaboration. Predictions are given for the HADES experiment at center-of-mass energy of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>3.46</mn></mrow></math> GeV, which can be verified in the near future, and for planned PANDA and SIS100 experiments at higher energies.

Exclusive <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>η</mi></math> production in proton-proton collisions at energies available at the GSI Facility for Antiproton and Ion Research

We study the production of a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math>-even flavon <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>H</mi><mi>F</mi></msub></math> in proton-proton collisions and the prospects for its detection via the diphoton channel at future super hadron colliders, i.e., <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msub><mi>H</mi><mi>F</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><mi>γ</mi></math>. The theoretical framework adopted is a model that invokes the Froggatt-Nielsen mechanism with an Abelian flavor symmetry, which includes a Higgs doublet and a complex singlet. We confront the free parameters of the model against theoretical and experimental constraints to find the allowed parameter space, which is then used to evaluate the production cross section of the flavon and the branching ratio of its decay into two photons. We find promising results based on specific benchmark points, achieving signal significances at the level of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>5</mn><mi>σ</mi></mrow></math> for flavon masses in the interval <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>200</mn><mo>≲</mo><msub><mrow><mi>M</mi></mrow><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>H</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>F</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></msub><mo>≲</mo><mn>450</mn></mrow></math> and integrated luminosities in the range <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>5</mn><mi>–</mi><mn>12</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>ab</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></mrow></math> at the future High-Energy LHC. On the other hand, the Future Circular Collider-hadron-hadron could probe masses up to 1 TeV if it reaches an integrated luminosity of at least <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>2</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mrow><mi>ab</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math>.
