We calculate a set of conformal correlators in the critical <math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo></math> vector model in <math><mn>2</mn><mo>&lt;</mo><mi>d</mi><mo>&lt;</mo><mn>6</mn></math> dimensions. We focus on the correlators involving the Hubbard-Stratonovich field <math><mi>s</mi></math>, and its composite form <math><msup><mi>s</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math>. In the process, we report a number of new calculations of diagrams involving the composite <math><msup><mi>s</mi><mn>2</mn></msup></math> operator. Through the calculation of the <math><mo>⟨</mo><msup><mi>s</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><msup><mi>s</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><mi>s</mi><mo>⟩</mo></math> three-point function, we shed new light on a conjectured <math><mi>s</mi><mo>→</mo><mo>−</mo><mi>s</mi></math> symmetry in the <math><mi>s</mi></math> sector of the critical <math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo></math> vector model in <math><mi>d</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>3</mn></math>.

Conformal correlators in the critical <math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo></math> vector model

We construct long-range fermionic models with the Gross-Neveu and Gross­Neveu-Yukawa interaction, and argue that their critical regimes are equivalent. To this end, we calculate various CFT data in ϵ- and 1/N-expansion, and demonstrate their agreement in the overlapping regimes of validity.

Long-range fermions and critical dualities

We show there exist UV-complete field-theoretic models in general dimension, including <math><mn>2</mn><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn></math>, with the spontaneous breaking of a global symmetry, which persists to the arbitrarily high temperatures. Our example is a conformal vector model with the <math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo><mo>×</mo><msub><mi>Z</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math> symmetry at zero temperature. Using conformal perturbation theory we establish <math><msub><mi>Z</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math> symmetry is broken at finite temperature for <math><mi>N</mi><mo>&gt;</mo><mn>17</mn></math>. Similar to recent constructions of [N. Chai et al., Phys. Rev. D 102, 065014 (2020)., N. Chai et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 125, 131603 (2020).], in the infinite <math><mi>N</mi></math> limit our model has a nontrivial conformal manifold, a moduli space of vacua, which gets deformed at finite temperature. Furthermore, in this regime the model admits a persistent breaking of <math><mi>O</mi><mo>(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>)</mo></math> in <math><mn>2</mn><mo>+</mo><mn>1</mn></math> dimensions, therefore providing another example where the Coleman-Hohenberg-Mermin-Wagner theorem can be bypassed.

Model of Persistent Breaking of Discrete Symmetry

We calculate various CFT data for the O(N) vector model with the long-range interaction, working at the next-to-leading order in the 1/N expansion. Our results provide additional evidence for the existence of conformal symmetry at the long-range fixed point, as well as the continuity of the CFT data at the long-range to short-range crossover point s  *  of the exponent parameter s. We also develop the N &gt; 1 generalization of the recently proposed IR duality between the long-range and the deformed short-range models, providing further evidence for its non-perturbative validity in the entire region d/2 &lt; s &lt; s  * .

Long-range vector models at large N

We study finite N aspects of the O(m) × O(N − m) vector model with quartic interactions in general 2 ≤ d ≤ 6 spacetime dimensions. This model has recently been shown [1, 2] to display the phenomenon of persistent symmetry breaking at a perturbative Wilson-Fisher-like fixed point in d = 4 − ϵ dimensions. The large rank limit of the biconical model displays a conformal manifold and a moduli space of vacua. We find a set of three double trace scalar operators that are respectively irrelevant, relevant and marginal deformations of the conformal manifold in general d. We calculate the anomalous dimensions of the single and multi-trace scalar operators to the first sub-leading order in the large rank expansion. The anomalous dimension of the marginal operator does not vanish in general, indicating that the conformal manifold is lifted at finite N . In the case of equal ranks we are able to derive explicitly the scaling dimensions of various operators as functions of only d.

The bi-conical vector model at 1/N

It is widely expected that at sufficiently high temperatures order is always lost, e.g., magnets lose their ferromagnetic properties. We pose the question of whether this is always the case in the context of quantum field theory in <math><mi>d</mi></math> space dimensions. More concretely, one can ask whether there exist critical points (CFTs) which break some global symmetry at arbitrary finite temperature. The most familiar CFTs do not exhibit symmetry breaking at finite temperature, and moreover, in the context of the <math><mrow><mi>AdS</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>CFT</mi></mrow></math> correspondence, critical points at finite temperature are described by an uncharged black brane which obeys a no-hair theorem. Yet, we show that there exist CFTs which have some of their internal symmetries broken at arbitrary finite temperature. Our main example is a vector model which we study both in the epsilon expansion and arbitrary rank as well as the large rank limit (and arbitrary dimension). The large rank limit of the vector model displays a conformal manifold, a moduli space of vacua, and a deformed moduli space of vacua at finite temperature. The appropriate Nambu-Goldstone bosons including the dilatonlike particle are identified. Using these tools we establish symmetry breaking at finite temperature for finite small <math><mi>ε</mi></math>. We also prove that a large class of other fixed points, which describe some of the most common quantum magnets, indeed behave as expected and do not break any global symmetry at finite temperature. We discuss some of the consequences of finite temperature symmetry breaking for the spectrum of local operators. Finally, we propose a class of fixed points which appear to be possible candidates for finite temperature symmetry breaking in <math><mi>d</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>2</mn></math>.
