We study the new $Z'$ boson as a portal for the production of Higgs bosons $h_0$ and $H_0$ predicted by the Bestest Little Higgs Model through Higgs-strahlung processes $\mu^+\mu^- \to (Z, Z') \to Zh_0, ZH_0$ . We focus on the resonant and nonresonant effects of the $Zh_0, ZH_0$ signals. In our analysis, we consider the center-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=3, 4, 6, 10, 30$ TeV and integrated luminosities of ${\cal{L}}=2, 4, 6, 10, 30$ ${ {\rm{ab}}^{-1}}$ projected for a future muon collider. The possibility of performing precision measurements for Higgs bosons $h_0$ and $H_0$ is very promising for the future muon collider. Furthermore, our results may be useful to the High Energy Physics community. Complementarily, we generate and provide the Feynman rules necessary for studying processes $\mu^+\mu^- \to (Z, Z') \to Zh_0, ZH_0$ .

The corresponding branching fractions are measured. Furthermore, intermediate states are investigated, leading to the first observation of the decay process of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>h</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><msub><mrow><mi>f</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1270</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><msup><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> with a significance of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>5.1</mn><mi>σ</mi></math>. This observation represents the first instance of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>h</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> radiative decay to a tensor state.

Observation of Charmonium <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>h</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math> Radiative Decays to Multiple Light Hadrons and the Tensor State <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>f</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1270</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>

In this paper, we investigate the phenomenology of fermionic systems in uniform gravitational fields within the framework of very special relativity (VSR). We focus on the case of gravitational spectroscopy with ultracold neutrons, explored in experiments like qbounce. Calculating the leading (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>c</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math>) and next-to-leading (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>c</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>) order corrections to the nonrelativistic Hamiltonian in an accelerated frame, we obtain the perturbed fermionic energy spectrum. At leading order, we do not find any modifications except for a trivial mass shift, thus preserving the equivalence between inertial and gravitational mass and particle-antiparticle sectors. The next-to-leading order corrections, instead, introduce time-dependent anisotropic contributions depending on the preferred spatial direction in VSR, and can then be used to probe novel Lorentz-violating signatures. Taking qbounce sensitivity as a benchmark, we derive a first rough constraint for the neutron VSR parameter. Finally, we suggest alternative spin-flipping setups to better probe VSR effects and foresee potential future research directions.

Very special relativity in accelerated frames: Nonrelativistic effects in gravitational spectroscopy of ultracold neutrons

Initiated by the recent observation of a flattened line shape of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>I</mi><msup><mi>J</mi><mrow><mi>P</mi><mi>C</mi></mrow></msup><mo>=</mo><mn>0</mn><msup><mn>0</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup></math> around 1.4–1.5 GeV in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>K</mi><mi>S</mi></msub><msub><mi>K</mi><mi>S</mi></msub><msup><mi>π</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> invariant mass spectrum by BESIII, we make a systematic partial wave analysis of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>X</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><mi>K</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>K</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>π</mi></math> based on an isobaric approach. We demonstrate that in the scenario of the first radial excitations of the isoscalar pseudoscalar from the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>K</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>K</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>π</mi></math> threshold to about 1.6 GeV the non-trivial <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>K</mi><mi>S</mi></msub><msub><mi>K</mi><mi>S</mi></msub><msup><mi>π</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> invariant mass spectrum can be explained by the coupled-channel effects with the presence of the triangle singularity mechanism. It shows that a combined fit of the Dalitz plots, three-body and two-body spectra can be achieved, which suggests that the one-state solution around 1.4–1.5 GeV proposed before still holds well. In particular, we show that the coupled-channel effects between the three important quasi-two-body decay channels, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>*</mo></mrow></msup><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover><mo>+</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>κ</mi><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover><mo>+</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>a</mi><mn>0</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>980</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>π</mi></math>, can be well described by taking into account the one-loop corrections in the isobaric approach. This is because the isoscalar pseudoscalar states are coupled to the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>*</mo></msup><mover accent="true"><mi>K</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mo>+</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>a</mi><mn>0</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>980</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>π</mi></math> (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>κ</mi><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover><mo>+</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi><mo>.</mo></mrow></math>) channels via the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>P</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi></math> waves, respectively. As a consequence, the coupled-channel effects can be largely absorbed into the redefinition of the tree-level effective couplings with the transition amplitudes computed to the order of one-loop corrections. Then, the coupled-channel effects can be estimated by the contributions from the one-loop rescattering amplitudes in comparison with the tree-level ones, where we find that the rescattering contributions from the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>P</mi></math> wave into the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi></math> wave, or vice versa, are apparently suppressed in the kinematic region near threshold.

Understanding the nontrivial isoscalar pseudoscalar structures in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>S</mi></mrow></msub><msub><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>S</mi></mrow></msub><msup><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup></mrow></math> spectra in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math> radiative decay

This Letter introduces a method for determining the energy spectrum of lattice quantum chromodynamics by applying the Lanczos algorithm to the transfer matrix and using a bootstrap generalization of the Cullum-Willoughby method to filter out spurious eigenvalues. Proof-of-principle analyses of the simple harmonic oscillator and the lattice quantum chromodynamics proton mass demonstrate that this method provides faster ground-state convergence than the “effective mass,” which is related to the power-iteration algorithm. Lanczos provides more accurate energy estimates than multistate fits to correlation functions with small imaginary times while achieving comparable statistical precision. Two-sided error bounds are computed for Lanczos results and guarantee that excited-state effects cannot shift Lanczos results far outside their statistical uncertainties.

Lanczos Algorithm, the Transfer Matrix, and the Signal-to-Noise Problem

We report an updated neutrino mixing angle of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>θ</mi><mn>13</mn></msub></math> obtained from a complete data sample of the RENO experiment. The experiment has measured the amplitude and frequency of reactor electron antineutrino (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mover accent="true"><mi>ν</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi>e</mi></msub></math>) oscillations at the Hanbit nuclear power plant, Younggwang, Korea, since August 2011. As of March 2023, the data acquisition was completed after a total of 3800 live days of detector operation. The observed candidates via inverse beta decay with the neutron capture on the gadolinium channel are 1,211,995 (144,667) in the near (far) detector. Compared to the previously published RENO results, the precision is improved from 7.5% to 6.4% for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>sin</mi><mn>2</mn></msup><mn>2</mn><msub><mi>θ</mi><mn>13</mn></msub></math> and from 5.2% to 4.5% for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo stretchy="false">|</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Δ</mi><msubsup><mi>m</mi><mrow><mi>e</mi><mi>e</mi></mrow><mn>2</mn></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">|</mo></math>. The statistical error of the measurement has reached our goal and is hardly improved with additional data taking.

Measurement of reactor antineutrino oscillation parameters using the full 3800-day dataset of the RENO experiment

We investigate the semileptonic decays of charmed mesons to light vector mesons within the framework of light-cone sum rules. Our calculation is performed at leading order in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) coupling, incorporating contributions up to twist-five accuracy from both two-particle and three-particle light-cone distribution amplitudes. Transition form factors are predicted twist by twist to assess the convergence property of the operator product expansion. It is verified that the twist-four and twist-five contributions are indeed negligible for all the decays under consideration. Twist-three dominance is observed for some of the form factors, subject to heavy quark effective field theory interpretation. Branching ratios for the decays <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>ρ</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mo>ℓ</mo></msub></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi>D</mi><mi>s</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>K</mi><mrow><mo>*</mo><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mo>ℓ</mo></msub></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>K</mi><mrow><mo>*</mo><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mo>ℓ</mo></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mover accent="true"><mi>K</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mrow><mo>*</mo><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><msup><mo>ℓ</mo><mo>+</mo></msup><msub><mi>ν</mi><mo>ℓ</mo></msub></math> are obtained, and a 10%–20% discrepancy from experimental measurements is found. Our finding indicates that the resonant-width and nonresonant QCD backgrounds effects should be potentially significant, implying the necessity to further implement their contributions in future precision studies of the semileptonic charm decays.

The full gauge symmetry of the theory, including the visible sector, is given by the universal covering group <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi>G</mi><mo stretchy="false">˜</mo></mover><mo>=</mo><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>Y</mi></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>L</mi></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>C</mi></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>X</mi></msub><mo>×</mo><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mi>H</mi></msub></math>. However, the true gauge group may instead be a quotient <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>G</mi><mo>=</mo><mover accent="true"><mi>G</mi><mo stretchy="false">˜</mo></mover><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi></math>, where <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi></math> is the center of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi>G</mi><mo stretchy="false">˜</mo></mover></math> or a subgroup thereof, leading to different global structures that cannot be distinguished by local experiments. We explore the physical implications of these global structures, analyzing their effects on Wilson, ’t Hooft, and dyonic line operators, as well as the periodicity of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-violating <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>θ</mi></math> angles associated with each group factor. Furthermore, we determine the minimal electric and magnetic charges that arise after electroweak symmetry breaking, highlighting their dependence on the choice of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">Γ</mi></math>. These findings provide a systematic characterization of the G2HDM’s global properties and their potential phenomenological consequences.

Line operators in the gauged two-Higgs-doublet model

In quantum mechanics, the measurable quantities of a given theory are predicted by performing a weighted sum over possibilities. We show how to arrange the possibilities into bundles such that the associated subsums can be viewed as well-defined theories on their own right. These bundles are submanifolds of possibilities which we call possifolds. We collect and prove some basic facts about possifolds. Especially, we show that possifolds are ensembles of what in a certain broadly defined sense that we explain can be regarded as soliton excitations (soliton-possifold correspondence). We provide an outlook on some applications. Among other things, we illustrate the use of the developed framework for the example of the Lieb-Liniger model. It describes nonrelativistic bosons with an attractive interaction. We derive a dual theory describing the lowest-lying energy excitation modes. While the standard Bogoliubov-approximation breaks down at the critical point, our derived summation prescription stays regular. In the Bogoliubov-limit we observe the summation to possess an enhanced symmetry at this point while the summation cannot be ignored there. We finally provide a glimpse on the restrictions black hole physics implies in this context for the gravitational path integral.

Framework for the quantum mechanical sum of possibilities and meaning for field theory and gravity

A key search mode for axionlike particles (ALPs) that couple to charm quarks is <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>γ</mi><mi>a</mi></math>. Here we calculate the form factor that allows the rate of this process to be determined using lattice QCD for the first time. Our calculations use the relativistic highly improved staggered quark (HISQ) action for the valence charm quarks on gluon field configurations generated by the MILC collaboration that include <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>u</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>d</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>s</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>c</mi></math> HISQ quarks in the sea at four values of the lattice spacing and both unphysical and physical sea quark masses. We determine the form factor as a function of ALP mass with an uncertainty of less than 2% across our full range of ALP masses from zero up to 95% of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math> mass. This represents a substantial improvement in accuracy of the theoretical picture of this decay compared to the previously used tree-level and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msub><mi>α</mi><mi>s</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> perturbation theory. We use our form factor to determine constraints on ALP masses and couplings to charm quarks and photons in several different scenarios using recent experimental data from BESIII. Our calculation paves the way for further lattice QCD input on new physics constraints from radiative decays.
