This paper illustrates a generic method for multidimensional reweighting of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math> neutrino interaction Monte Carlo samples. The reweighting is based on a boosted decision tree algorithm trained on high-dimensional space in detector final-state observables. This enables one generator’s events to be reweighted so that its reconstructed particle content and kinematics distributions, as well as detector efficiency, match those of a target model. The approach establishes an efficient way to reuse legacy Monte Carlo data, avoiding regeneration. As an example, we test its use in a measurement of transverse kinematic imbalance of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></math> and proton in charged-current quasielastic like <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>ν</mi><mi>μ</mi></msub></math> events from the MINERvA experiment.

Boosted decision tree reweighting of simulated neutrino interactions for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></mrow></math> neutrino cross-section measurements

The NUCLEUS experiment aims to detect coherent elastic neutrino–nucleus scattering of reactor antineutrinos using low-threshold, gram-scale cryogenic calorimeters. Similar to other low-threshold experiments, NUCLEUS observes a sharp rise in the event rate below a few hundred eV, referred to as the low energy excess (LEE), whose origin remains yet unidentified. Building on results from the NUCLEUS testing and commissioning at the Technical University of Munich and from previous characterization campaigns, we present a comprehensive study of the background rate measured with a sapphire detector equipped with two transition-edge sensors under various experimental conditions. We find no evidence for a dependence of the LEE rate on the particle background level, whereas the results indicate that slower cooling-down procedures lead to lower initial LEE rates. The behavior of the LEE rate during the same cooldown is comparable across the measurements and is best described by a power law with a common exponent across datasets of $$(-0.59\pm 0.06)$$ , when time is expressed from the moment the detector reaches the 4 K temperature. These findings provide valuable guidance for future LEE mitigation strategies in the NUCLEUS experiment.

Characterization of the low energy excess using a NUCLEUS Al $$_2$$ O $$_3$$ detector

We investigate a novel class of defects in the critical O(2$\textit{N}$) model that preserve conformal symmetry along the defect, but not the symmetry under rotations transverse to the defect. Instead, they only preserve a combination of transverse rotations and a global symmetry. These defects are constructed as IR fixed points of RG flows originating at monodromy defects, triggered by a relevant operator with non-zero transverse spin. Using large-$\textit{N}$ and 4 – $\textit{ε}$ expansions, we compute leading-order scaling dimensions of defect operators and the one-point functions of the bulk fields. In various limits this theory coincides with the monodromy defect or the pinning field defect, and we compare our results to existing results for these defects.

Monodromy pinning defects in the critical O(2$\textit{N}$) model

We compute the complete potential-graviton contributions to the conservative radial action and scattering angle for two nonspinning bodies in general relativity, accurate through fifth order in Newton’s constant and including second-order self-force effects. The calculation is carried out in the scattering-amplitude framework, combining the double-copy, effective field theory, and multiloop integration techniques based on integration by parts and differential equations. To address a major computational bottleneck, we develop improved integration-by-parts algorithms that render calculations at this order tractable. The post-Minkowskian amplitude is presented as a series expansion, following the strategy used earlier in maximal supergravity. For the first self-force sector, which involves only polylogarithmic functions, we also provide a closed-form analytic expression. For the second self-force sector, as in earlier supergravity work, we find nontrivial cancellations among contributions related to integrals supported on Calabi-Yau geometry.

S*(E) measurement of the 12 <italic>C</italic>( 12 <italic>C, &#945;</italic>) 20 <italic>Ne</italic> reaction at astrophysical energies via the Trojan horse method with 16 <italic>O</italic> quasi-free breakup

In previous work, we determined the improvement coefficients <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>c</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">V</mi></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>c</mi><mover accent="true"><mi mathvariant="normal">V</mi><mo stretchy="false">˜</mo></mover></msub></math> required for the massless <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>a</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>-improvement of the local and point-split discretizations of the nonsinglet vector current for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">f</mi></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>3</mn></math> nonperturbatively <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>a</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>-improved Wilson fermions and the Lüscher-Weisz gauge action, using ensembles of large-volume configurations generated by the coordinated lattice simulations (CLS) initiative. A new estimate for the mass-dependent improvement coefficient <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>b</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover></mrow><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">A</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>eff</mi></mrow></msubsup></mrow></math> has recently become available, differing from the one used in our earlier study, and on which our implementation via a massive axial Ward identity relied. Here, we update our analysis of the mass-independent vector improvement coefficients based on the new axial current improvement coefficient, and analyze additional ensembles with a different chiral trajectory in order to validate our results at two values of the bare coupling. We find that using the new estimate of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mi mathvariant="normal">A</mi><mi>eff</mi></msubsup></math> improves the consistency between the two chiral trajectories, as well as with a previous determination of the improvement coefficients directly in the massless limit on small volumes.

Nonsinglet vector current in lattice QCD: <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>a</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>-improvement from large volumes

We compute the coefficient functions for heavy-quark initiated charged-current deep-inelastic scattering through $$ \mathcal{O}\left({\alpha}_s^2\right) $$ , retaining full mass dependence for a single heavy-quark flavor. The calculation employs a cut-based approach to isolate individual diagram contributions and to derive differential equations for the relevant master integrals, which are solved analytically in terms of generalized polylogarithms. The results are presented in the decoupling scheme for $\textit{n}$ light active flavors, facilitating their direct implementation in variable-flavor number schemes such as ACOT and FONLL.

Heavy-quark initiated charged-current deep-inelastic scattering coefficient functions through $$ \mathcal{O}\left({\alpha}_s^2\right) $$

The three-dimensional classical <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> model with a boundary has received renewed interest due to the discovery of the extraordinary-log boundary universality class for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>2</mn><mo>≤</mo><mi>N</mi><mo>&lt;</mo><msub><mrow><mi>N</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></mrow></math>. The critical value <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>N</mi><mi>c</mi></msub></math> and the exponent of the boundary correlation function are related to certain amplitudes in the normal universality class. To determine their precise values, we revisit the 3D <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> boundary conformal field theory for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>N</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></math>, 2, 3, 4, 5. After substantially improving the accuracy of the boundary bootstrap, our determinations are in excellent agreement with the Monte Carlo results, resolving the previous discrepancies due to low truncation orders. We also use the recent bulk bootstrap results to deduce highly accurate Ising data. Many bulk and boundary predictions are obtained for the first time. Our results demonstrate the great potential of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>η</mi></math> minimization method for many unexplored bootstrap problems in which positivity constraints are absent.

Accurate Boundary Bootstrap for the Three-Dimensional <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mi>N</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> Normal Universality Class

Deuteron inelastic scattering on 14O was measured in inverse kinematics using an active-target time projection chamber and a magnetic spectrograph. The experimental technique enabled precise measurements of deuteron recoiling particles in coincidence with beam-like fragments detected in the spectrograph focal plane. The double differential cross section was reconstructed for scattering angles of 3&#8211;6 degrees and excitation energies up to 26 MeV. The monopole strength distribution was obtained from the data using a multipole decomposition analysis. The results were compared to quasiparticle random-phase approximation (QRPA) and generator coordinate method (GCM) calculations. The QRPA calculation accurately describes experimental data in the energy range of 13 to 26 MeV. GCM calculations assuming a <math altimg='si7.svg'><mrow><msup><mrow /><mn>12</mn></msup><mi mathvariant='normal'>C</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mrow><mi mathvariant='normal'>g</mi><mo>.</mo><mi mathvariant='normal'>s</mi><mo>.</mo></mrow><mo>)</mo></mrow><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>+</mo><mi>p</mi><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>+</mo><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> cluster configuration were used to determine the <math altimg='si1.svg'><msup><mn>0</mn><mo>+</mo></msup></math> strength in 14O below 13 MeV. The monopole transition strength of these cluster states provides a good description of the experimental distribution in the 9&#8211;11 MeV region, while the <math altimg='si2.svg'><msubsup><mn>0</mn><mn>2</mn><mo>+</mo></msubsup></math> state accounts for only a small fraction of the experimental strength around 6 MeV.
