We numerically study the complexity of a strip-shaped subregion by the subregion CV conjecture in backreacting holographic p-wave superconductors in low-dimensional Einstein–Maxwell-complex vector field theory. Based on our results with different mass and charge of the vector field, holographic complexity serves as a good probe to the superconductor phase transitions and exhibits characteristic qualitative behaviors across different types of transition. At the second order phase transition point, the complexity is continuous but non-differentiable, while at the first order and the zeroth order transition points, the complexity has a discontinuous change. The distinction between the first order and zeroth order phase transitions lies in the fact that in the former, the complexity for the normal phase and the superconducting phase can be connected by a metastable condensed phase, whereas in the latter such a metastable phase does not exist. A thermodynamically sub-dominant condensed phase known as “retrograde condensation” is also imprinted on the complexity. For this phase, the complexity only appears in the high temperature regime. Furthermore, the holographic complexity has many different behaviors from the holographic entanglement entropy. Particularly, we find that the complexity for the normal phase shows inconsistent temperature dependence in the case of $$d=2$$ and $$d=3$$ , while such a discrepancy between different dimensions is not observed in the entanglement entropy.

Holographic complexity for p-wave superconductor models in low-dimensions

Studying experimental observables is a key benchmark for validating theoretical models in high energy physics. In this work, we employ the PACIAE 4.0 model to simulate nonsingle diffractive proton-proton (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math>) collisions at center-of-mass energies of 0.9, 2.36, and 7 TeV, comparing the results with compact muon solenoid (CMS) experimental data on charged-particle pseudorapidity densities and transverse momentum spectra across different pseudorapidity bins, respectively. Our results show good agreement with the CMS data, particularly only using a single set of parameters for all collision energies. This demonstrates that the PACIAE 4.0 model can serve as a reliable tool for systematically studying the physics of NSD <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> collisions.

Pseudorapidity dependence of charged-particle production in nonsingle diffractive <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></mrow></math> collisions in the PACIAE 4.0 model

The Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) is a next-generation neutrino experiment with a rich physics program that includes searches for the hypothetical phenomenon of proton decay. Utilizing liquid-argon time-projection chamber technology, DUNE is expected to achieve world-leading sensitivity in the proton decay channels that involve charged kaons in their final states. The first DUNE demonstrator, ProtoDUNE Single-Phase, was a 0.77 kt detector that operated from 2018 to 2020 at the CERN Neutrino Platform, exposed to a mixed hadron and electron test-beam with momenta ranging from 0.3 to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>7</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi></mrow></math>. We present a selection of low-energy kaons among the secondary particles produced in hadronic reactions, using data from the 6 and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>7</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi></mrow></math> beam runs. The selection efficiency is 1% and the sample purity 92%. The initial energies of the selected kaon candidates encompass the expected energy range of kaons originating from proton decay events in DUNE (below <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo>∼</mo><mn>200</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>MeV</mi></math>). In addition, we demonstrate the capability of this detector technology to discriminate between kaons and other particles such as protons and muons, and provide a comprehensive description of their energy loss in liquid argon, which shows good agreement with the simulation. These results pave the way for future proton decay searches at DUNE.

Identification of low-energy kaons in the ProtoDUNE-SP detector

In this paper, we investigate the production of a fully charmed tetraquark state <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>T</mi><mrow><mn>4</mn><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></math> in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></math> collisions at forward rapidities through the fragmentation mechanism considering the color glass condensate formalism and the solution of the running coupling Balitsky-Kovchegov equation. The contributions of gluon- and charm-initiated processes are taken into account, and the impact of an intrinsic charm component in the proton’s wave function is estimated. Predictions for the transverse momentum distribution of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>T</mi><mrow><mn>4</mn><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub></math> state are presented assuming different rapidities, distinct quantum numbers of the state and center-of-mass energies. Our results indicate that the higher cross section is associated with the production of a tensor state <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>T</mi><mrow><mn>4</mn><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mn>2</mn><mrow><mo>+</mo><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>, which is dominated by the gluon-initiated process. In contrast, the production of the axial-vector state <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>T</mi><mrow><mn>4</mn><mi>c</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mn>1</mn><mrow><mo>+</mo><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> is dominated by the charm-initiated process and is very sensitive to the presence (or not) of an intrinsic charm.

Fully charmed tetraquark production in forward rapidity <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></math> collisions at LHC and FCC energies

We propose a three-zero texture for the down-quark mass matrix within a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi><mi>U</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>5</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> grand unified theory (GUT)-inspired Standard Model, enforced by a noninvertible selection rule originating from <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="double-struck">Z</mi><mn>2</mn></msub></math> gauging of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="double-struck">Z</mi><mi>N</mi></msub></math> symmetries. Assuming <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> invariance at the high-energy scale, our framework solves the strong <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> problem while reproducing a realistic quark mass matrix. The <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> symmetry is spontaneously broken down at an intermediate scale via complex vacuum expectation values of new scalar fields <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>η</mi><mi>i</mi></msub></math>, which generate the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> phase in the Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix without inducing the quantum chromodynamics (QCD) <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi>θ</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> term. The present model incorporates three generations of matter, Higgs, and additional scalars with a common structure under the noninvertible symmetry, which may be naturally embedded into <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>S</mi><mi>O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>10</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> GUTs at high energies.

Noninvertible symmetry as a solution to the strong <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> problem in a GUT-inspired standard model

We investigate the sensitivity of a future high-luminosity <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math> collider operating at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>250</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math> to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-violating and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math>-conserving anomalous <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mi>V</mi><mi>V</mi></math> interactions via the Higgsstrahlung process. The effects of new physics are parametrized in the Standard Model effective field theory (SMEFT) framework through six dimension-6 operators modifying the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mi>V</mi><mi>V</mi></math> vertices. Using polarized beams and exploiting polarization and spin correlation asymmetries reconstructed from Higgs decay products, we perform a comprehensive analysis across the three dominant decay modes, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi><msup><mi>W</mi><mo>⋆</mo></msup></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>Z</mi><msup><mi>Z</mi><mo>⋆</mo></msup></math>. The <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>W</mi><msup><mi>W</mi><mo>⋆</mo></msup></math> channel exhibits the highest sensitivity to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mrow><mi>H</mi><mi>W</mi></mrow></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mrow><mi>H</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>W</mi><mo stretchy="false">˜</mo></mover></mrow></msub></math>, while the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>b</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>b</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> mode constrains the remaining operators with high statistical precision. Sensitivity studies incorporating luminosity scaling and systematic uncertainties show that the projected bounds improve significantly with increasing integrated luminosity, but saturate once experimental systematics exceed the few-percent level. These results highlight the crucial role of spin-based observables and beam polarization in achieving subpercent precision on SMEFT coefficients at future lepton colliders.

In this work, we investigate the production mechanisms of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>X</mi><mn>2</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4013</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> in the reactions <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>K</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msup><mi>p</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi>D</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>s</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msubsup><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup><msub><mrow><mi>X</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4013</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>c</mi><mo>+</mo></msubsup><msub><mi>X</mi><mn>2</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4013</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> within an effective Lagrangian framework. The production processes are modeled via <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>t</mi></math>-channel <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msup><mrow><mi>D</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>*</mo></mrow></msup><mo>/</mo><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>D</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover><msup><mrow><mtext> </mtext></mrow><mrow><mo>*</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></math> meson exchanges, while initial-state interactions (ISIs) mediated by Pomeron and Reggeon exchanges are also taken into account. Our calculations indicate that the total cross sections can reach the pb level, suggesting that <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>X</mi><mn>2</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4013</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> may be accessible at current and future experiments such as AMBER@CERN and LHCb. Inclusion of ISIs enhances the cross sections by nearly 1 order of magnitude. The differential distributions show distinct angular behaviors for the two reactions: the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>K</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><mi>p</mi></math> reaction exhibits a forward-peaked distribution, whereas the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></math> reaction shows a dip near central angles. This study provides a quantitative theoretical benchmark for future experimental searches of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>X</mi><mn>2</mn></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>4013</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> and highlights the importance of ISIs in high-energy particle investigations.

If axions simultaneously have the scalar couplings to the nucleons and pseudoscalar couplings to the electrons, it may mediate a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">P</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">T</mi></math>-violating interaction between the electronic shell and nuclei in the molecules. The polyatomic molecule RaOH, which is considered a promising platform for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">P</mi></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">T</mi></math>-violation searches, is studied for its sensitivity to such interactions. Because of the long-range nature (on molecular scales) of the axion-mediated interaction, it is important whether the molecular parameter is sensitive to the vibration of the molecule. Our results imply that the impact of the vibrations on the axion-mediated electron-nucleon interaction in the molecule is similar to the impact on the short-range electron-nucleon scalar-pseudoscalar interaction studied earlier.

We discuss the production of <math altimg='si10.svg'><mrow><mi>D</mi><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover></mrow></math> pairs in <math altimg='si2.svg'><mrow><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>e</mi><mo>&#8722;</mo></msup></mrow></math> collisions, where <italic>D</italic> refers to either <italic>D</italic> 0 or <math altimg='si30.svg'><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>+</mo></msup></math>. The continuum mechanism with the <italic>t</italic>/ <italic>u</italic>-channel vector-meson <italic>D</italic>* exchanges are considered. The results of the calculation depend on the parameter of the off-shell form-factor for the virtual <italic>D</italic>* mesons. The <italic>D</italic>* <italic>D&#947;</italic> coupling constants are found from the <italic>D</italic>*&#8239;&#8594;&#8239; <italic>D&#947;</italic> decays. We find relatively large contribution for the <math altimg='si4.svg'><mrow><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mrow><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover></mrow><mn>0</mn></msup></mrow></math> channel and much smaller contribution in the <math altimg='si1.svg'><mrow><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>D</mi><mo>&#8722;</mo></msup></mrow></math> channel. In the second case we consider also the <italic>D</italic> &#8239;&#177;&#8239; exchanges. We conclude that the bump at <math altimg='si31.svg'><mrow><msub><mi>M</mi><mrow><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup><msup><mrow><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover></mrow><mn>0</mn></msup></mrow></msub><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mn>3.8</mn></mrow></math> GeV observed by the Belle and BaBar Collaborations has rather continuum origin than it corresponds to the broad resonance <italic>&#967;</italic> <inf><italic>c</italic>0</inf>(3860). We discuss also production of the <italic>&#967;</italic> <inf><italic>c</italic>2</inf>(3930) resonance which is a candidate for the <italic>&#967;</italic> <inf><italic>c</italic>2</inf>(2 <italic>P</italic>) state. This state can decay into both <math altimg='si10.svg'><mrow><mi>D</mi><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover></mrow></math> channels, however the branching fractions are not well known at present. From a comparison of our model results to the BaBar data we find <math altimg='si32.svg'><mrow><mi>B</mi><mo>(</mo><msub><mi>&#967;</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3930</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mo>&#8594;</mo><mi>D</mi><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover><mo>)</mo><mo>=</mo><mn>0.58</mn><mo>&#177;</mo><mn>0.13</mn></mrow></math> using the two-photon width <math altimg='si33.svg'><mrow><msub><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#915;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>&#947;</mi><mi>&#947;</mi></mrow></msub><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mn>0.544</mn></mrow></math> keV (obtained for the Buchm&#252;ller-Tye potential) evaluated within the light-front approach (NRQCD limit). Our finding of <math altimg='si34.svg'><mrow><msub><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#915;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mi>&#947;</mi><mi>&#947;</mi></mrow></msub><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>&#215;</mo><mi>B</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><msub><mi>&#967;</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mrow><mo>(</mo><mn>3930</mn><mo>)</mo></mrow><mo>&#8594;</mo><mi>D</mi><mover accent='true'><mi>D</mi><mo>&#175;</mo></mover><mo>)</mo></mrow><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mn>0.32</mn><mo>&#177;</mo><mn>0.07</mn></mrow></math> keV is close to the Belle and BaBar results. Realistic predictions of the differential distributions in several variables and integrated cross-sections are given for the Belle II kinematics.

In this work, we distinguish the isospin unambiguously to construct the diquark–diquark–antiquark type five-quark currents with the isospin $$I=1/2$$ , and study the $$uudc\bar{c}$$ pentaquark states with the QCD sum rules systematically for the first time. Then we obtain the mass spectrum of the diquark–diquark–antiquark type $$uudc\bar{c}$$ pentaquark states with the isospin-spin-parity $$IJ^P=\frac{1}{2}{\frac{1}{2}}^-$$ , $$\frac{1}{2}{\frac{3}{2}}^-$$ and $$\frac{1}{2}{\frac{5}{2}}^-$$ , and make possible assignments of the $$P_c(4312)$$ , $$P_c(4337)$$ , $$P_c(4380)$$ , $$P_c(4440)$$ and $$P_c(4457)$$ states. As a byproduct, we obtain the lowest hidden-charm pentaquark state which lies just above the $$\bar{D}\Lambda _c$$ threshold.
