We report a study of the hadronic transitions <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msub><mrow><mi>χ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi><mi>J</mi></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>, with <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>ω</mi><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><msup><mi>π</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math>, using <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mn>28.2</mn><mo>×</mo><msup><mrow><mn>10</mn></mrow><mrow><mn>6</mn></mrow></msup><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> mesons recorded by the Belle detector. We present the first evidence for the near-threshold transition <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math>, the analog of the near-threshold charm sector decay <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>χ</mi><mrow><mi>c</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3872</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi>J</mi><mo>/</mo><mi>ψ</mi></math>, with a branching fraction of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">B</mi><mo minsize="2ex" stretchy="true">(</mo><msub><mrow><mi>χ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo minsize="2ex" stretchy="true">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>0.55</mn><mo>±</mo><mn>0.19</mn><mo>±</mo><mn>0.07</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>%</mo></mrow></math>. We also obtain branching fractions of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">B</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msub><mrow><mi>χ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>1</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msubsup><mrow><mn>2.39</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>0.19</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.20</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo>±</mo><mn>0.24</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>%</mo></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">B</mi><mo minsize="2ex" stretchy="true">(</mo><msub><mrow><mi>χ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>b</mi><mn>2</mn></mrow></msub><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>ω</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo minsize="2ex" stretchy="true">)</mo><mo>=</mo><mspace linebreak="goodbreak"></mspace><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msubsup><mrow><mn>0.47</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>0.12</mn></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo><mn>0.13</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo>±</mo><mn>0.06</mn><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><mo>%</mo></mrow></math>, confirming the measurement of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>ω</mi></math> transitions of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>1</mn><mo>,</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>P</mi></math>–wave states. The ratio for the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>2</mn></math> to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>J</mi><mo>=</mo><mn>1</mn></math> transitions is also measured and found to differ by 3.3 standard deviations from the expected value in the QCD multipole expansion.

Fundamental principles of quantum field theory (QFT) such as Lorentz invariance, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math> symmetry, and locality may be tested to extremely high precision in atomic and molecular spectroscopy. The narrow natural linewidth of rovibrational states in the hydrogen molecular ion <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi><mn>2</mn><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup></math> and its antimatter counterpart <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mover accent="true"><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mn>2</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msubsup></math> make these ideal candidates, and give <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msub><mi>m</mi><mi>p</mi></msub><mo>/</mo><msub><mi>m</mi><mi>e</mi></msub><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> increased sensitivity to Lorentz and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math> violation in the proton sector compared to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mover accent="true"><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> atoms. In a previous paper, we presented a detailed analysis of the rovibrational spectrum of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi><mn>2</mn><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mover accent="true"><mi mathvariant="normal">H</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover><mn>2</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo></mrow></msubsup></math> in an effective QFT encoding Lorentz and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math> violation, focusing on spin-independent effects. Here, we extend this analysis to include the full hyperfine-Zeeman spectrum and include spin-dependent Lorentz and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math> violating operators in the effective theory. The results demonstrate how constraints on these symmetry-violating couplings may be extracted from specific rovibrational transitions between hyperfine-Zeeman states in the presence of an applied magnetic field.

Lorentz and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math> violation and the hydrogen and antihydrogen molecular ions. II. Hyperfine-Zeeman spectrum

In the present work, O-O collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><msub><mi>s</mi><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>7</mn><mspace width="0.16em"></mspace><mi>TeV</mi></mrow></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>p</mi></math>-O collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mrow><msqrt><msub><mi>s</mi><mrow><mi>N</mi><mi>N</mi></mrow></msub></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>9.9</mn><mspace width="0.16em"></mspace><mi>TeV</mi></mrow></math> are studied using the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi mathvariant="normal" mathsize="small">PYTHIA8</mi></math>/Angantyr model for heavy-ion collisions. The theoretically predicted <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>α</mi></math>-cluster structure of oxygen nucleus is implemented in the model to investigate the effect of the initial configuration of the oxygen nucleus on final state observables. The results obtained from the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>α</mi></math>-cluster structure are compared with those obtained from Woods-Saxon nuclear charge density distribution. The Angantyr model simulation showed that the radial distribution of the oxygen nucleus in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>α</mi></math>-cluster configuration is more compact in comparison to the Woods-Saxon distribution. The results on charged and identified particle pseudorapidity distribution are obtained in the two initial state configurations of the oxygen nucleus. The results demonstrated that the effect of initial geometrical configuration is more distinct in the noncentral collisions in comparison to the central collisions for both O-O and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>p</mi></math>-O collisions.

Effect of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>α</mi></math> clusters on particle production in O-O and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML"><mi>p</mi></math>-O collisions at energies available at the CERN Large Hadron Collider

<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> violation in the charmed baryon sector is generally expected to be very small, of order <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>4</mn></mrow></msup></math> or even smaller. Nevertheless, large long-distance penguin topologies can be induced through final-state rescattering. At the hadron level, they are manifested as the triangle and bubble diagrams. However, these diagrams consist of not only the penguin but also other tree topologies. Therefore, we focus on the flavor structure of the these diagrams and project out their contributions to penguin and tree topologies. The analysis is performed within the framework of the topological diagram approach and the irreducible SU(3) approach in which the SU(3) flavor symmetry of QCD is realized to describe the nonleptonic decays of charmed baryons. <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></mrow></math> violation at the per mille level is found in the following decay modes: <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>p</mi><msup><mrow><mi>π</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><mo>,</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>p</mi><msup><mrow><mi>η</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>′</mo></mrow></msup><mo>,</mo><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Ξ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Σ</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>0</mn></mrow></msup><mi>η</mi></mrow></math>, and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><msubsup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Ξ</mi></mrow><mrow><mi>c</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><msup><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Σ</mi></mrow><mrow><mo>+</mo></mrow></msup><mi>η</mi></mrow></math>. <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> asymmetries in the last three modes receive sizable contributions from the SU(3)-flavor-singlet hairpin diagram.

<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi></math> violation in hadronic weak decays of charmed baryons in the topological diagrammatic approach

The inclusive <math altimg='si1.svg'><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> photoproduction in <math altimg='si2.svg'><mrow><mi>P</mi><mi>b</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>b</mi></mrow></math> collisions at the center - of - mass energies of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is investigated considering the color dipole <math altimg='si5.svg'><mi>S</mi></math> - matrix approach. The analytical expressions for the differential distributions are derived in the impact parameter and transverse momentum spaces and predictions for the rapidity and transverse momentum distributions are presented considering three distinct models for the unintegrated gluon distribution of the nuclear target. In particular, we compare the predictions derived assuming a linear dynamics, with and without the inclusion of nuclear effects, with those obtained by solving the running coupling Balitsky - Kovchegov equation. A comparison of these predictions with the recent (preliminary) CMS data is also performed. Our results indicate that a detailed analysis of this observable will be very useful to improve our understanding of the strong interaction theory at high energies and in a nuclear medium.

Investigating the inclusive <math altimg='si1.svg'><msup><mi>D</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> photoproduction in ultraperipheral <math altimg='si2.svg'><mrow><mi>P</mi><mi>b</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>b</mi></mrow></math> collisions at the Large Hadron Collider

This Letter reports the first evidence of electroweak production of same-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> boson pairs where at least one of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons is longitudinally polarized and the most stringent constraint to date for the production of two longitudinally polarized same-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons. The dataset used corresponds to an integrated luminosity of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>140</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>fb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math> of proton-proton collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, collected with the ATLAS detector during run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider. The study is performed in final states including two same-sign leptons (electrons or muons), missing transverse momentum, and at least two jets with a large invariant mass and a large rapidity difference. Two independent fits are performed targeting the production of same-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons with at least one, or two longitudinally polarized <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons. The observed (expected) significance of the production with at least one longitudinally polarized <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> boson is 3.3 (4.0) standard deviations. An observed (expected) 95% confidence level upper limit of 0.45 (0.70) fb is reported on the fiducial production cross section of two longitudinally polarized same-sign <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>W</mi></math> bosons.
