In this study, we investigate the possibility of enhancing the di-jet resonance searches by tagging the final state radiation (FSR) jet using an event-level deep neural network. It is found that solely relying on the 4-momenta of the leading three jets allows the algorithm to achieve good discriminating power that can identify the hardest FSR jet in the signal while rejecting other soft jets. Once the invariant mass is corrected with the tagged FSR jet, the mass resolution of the signal is greatly enhanced, and the sensitivity of the search is also improved by more than 10%. By crafting the input variables carefully, the algorithm introduces minimal mass sculpting for the background, and its applicability extends to a broad mass range. This work proves that FSR jet tagging can potentially enhance di-jet resonance searches, suiting various stages of the physics programmes at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC).

We investigate the collider signatures of a maximally flavor-violating $ U(1)_{L_\mu-L_\tau} $ model, where a new gauge boson $ Z^\prime $ and scalar triplets induce lepton flavor-changing interactions in the $\textit{μ}$-$\textit{τ}$ sector. Focusing on four-lepton final states at multi-TeV lepton colliders, we conduct a detailed analysis of cross sections, asymmetries, and polarization effects. We show that the signal cross section is highly sensitive to $ m_{Z^\prime} $ and the effective parameters $ \tilde{g}/m_{Z^\prime} $ , whereas it remains largely insensitive to the triplet Yukawa couplings within the phenomenologically allowed region. The forward-backward asymmetry exhibits a characteristic monotonic dependence on $ m_{Z^\prime} $ , and beam polarization can significantly suppress the Standard Model backgrounds while enhancing new physics contributions. We find that, in the phenomenologically allowed parameter space, the predicted observables remain highly sensitive to the underlying model parameters. These results show that multi-lepton final states are powerful probes of the $ U(1)_{L\mu - L_\tau} $ framework and can offer valuable guidance for future searches at muon and electron-positron colliders.

Graph neural networks have recently shown strong promise for event reconstruction tasks in Liquid Argon Time Projection Chambers, yet their performance remains limited for underrepresented classes of particles, such as Michel electrons. In this work, we investigate physics-informed strategies to improve semantic segmentation within the NuGraph2 architecture. We explore three complementary approaches: (i) enriching the input representation with context-aware features derived from detector geometry and track continuity, (ii) introducing auxiliary decoders to capture class-level correlations, and (iii) incorporating energy-based regularization terms motivated by Michel electron energy distributions. Experiments on MicroBooNE public datasets show that physics-inspired feature augmentation yields the largest gains, particularly boosting Michel electron precision and recall by disentangling overlapping latent space regions. In contrast, auxiliary decoders and energy-regularization terms provided limited improvements, partly due to the hit-level nature of NuGraph2, which lacks explicit particle- or event-level representations. Our findings highlight that embedding physics context directly into node-level inputs is more effective than imposing task-specific auxiliary losses, and suggest that future hierarchical architectures such as NuGraph3, with explicit particle- and event-level reasoning, will provide a more natural setting for advanced decoders and physics-based regularization. NuGraph2 with context-aware inputs: physics-inspired improvements in semantic segmentation

We develop diffusion models for simulating lattice gauge theories, where stochastic quantization is explicitly incorporated as a physical condition for sampling. We demonstrate the applicability of this novel sampler to U(1) gauge theory in two spacetime dimensions and find that a model trained at a small inverse coupling constant can be extrapolated to larger inverse coupling regions without encountering the topological freezing problem. Additionally, the trained model can be employed to sample configurations on different lattice sizes without requiring further training. The exactness of the generated samples is ensured by incorporating Metropolis-adjusted Langevin dynamics into the generation process. Furthermore, we demonstrate that this approach enables more efficient sampling of topological quantities compared to traditional algorithms such as Hybrid Monte Carlo and Langevin simulations.

Physics-conditioned diffusion models for lattice gauge theory

A model-agnostic search for Beyond the Standard Model physics is presented, targeting final states with at least four light leptons (electrons or muons). The search regions are separated by event topology and unsupervised machine learning is used to identify anomalous events in the full 140 fb $$^{-1}$$ of proton–proton collision data collected with the ATLAS detector during Run 2. No significant excess above the Standard Model background expectation is observed. Model-agnostic limits are presented in each topology, along with limits on several benchmark models including vector-like leptons, wino-like charginos and neutralinos, or smuons. Limits are set on the flavourful vector-like lepton model for the first time.

Search for Beyond the Standard Model physics with anomaly detection in multilepton final states in $\textit{pp}$ collisions at $$\sqrt{s}=13~\textrm{TeV}$$ with the ATLAS detector

The Run 3 of the LHC brings unprecedented luminosity and a surge in data volume to the LHCb detector, necessitating a critical reduction in the size of each reconstructed event without compromising the physics reach of the heavy-flavour programme. While signal decays typically involve just a few charged particles, a single proton–proton collision produces hundreds of tracks, with charged particle information dominating the event size. To address this imbalance, a suite of inclusive isolation tools have been developed, including both classical methods and a novel Inclusive Multivariate Isolation ( ) algorithm. The unifies the key strengths of classical isolation techniques and is designed to robustly handle diverse decay topologies and kinematics, enabling efficient reconstruction of decay chains with varying final-state multiplicities. It consistently outperforms traditional methods, with superior background rejection and high signal efficiency across diverse channels and event multiplicities. By retaining only the most relevant particles in each event, the method achieves a 45% reduction in data-size while preserving full physics performance, selecting signal particles with 99% efficiency. We also validate IMI on Run 3 data, confirming its robustness under real data-taking conditions. In the long term, could provide a fast, lightweight front-end to support more compute-intensive selection strategies in the high-multiplicity environment of the High-Luminosity LHC.

Minimising event size, maximising physics: inclusive particle isolation for LHCb’s Run 3

We provide a detailed geometric and physical interpretation of infinite distance limits in the complex structure moduli space of Type IIB compactifications on Calabi-Yau threefolds, motivated by the Emergent String Conjecture. In the framework of semi-stable degenerations, such limits are characterised by a simple fibration structure of the fastest vanishing three-cycles. The previously studied Hodge theoretic classification of infinite distance limits of type II, III, and IV is reflected in the number of one-cycles of the shrinking fibres. Complementing our recent work on limits of type II, we focus here on type III and type IV degenerations. Based on effective field theory considerations, these are expected to be decompactification limits to 6d and 5d, respectively. However, establishing the existence of the associated Kaluza-Klein $\textit{tower(s)}$ of states with both the appropriate mass scaling and the correct $\textit{degeneracy}$ requires explicit geometric input. We show that the aforementioned vanishing three-cycles are special Lagrangian three-tori, thus giving rise to towers of asymptotically massless BPS particles from multi-wrapped D3-branes with the degeneracy of a Kaluza-Klein tower. We furthermore relate the BPS index of these three-cycles to the Euler characteristic of the threefold. Finally, we systematically analyse infinite distance trajectories in multi-parameter limits described by so-called enhancement chains. We find that the primary singularity type encodes the gravitational duality frame of the limit whereas the secondary singularity type is related to the rank of the gauge group coupled to gravity. The specifics of the asymptotic physics depend crucially on whether or not the trajectory is induced by the backreaction of an EFT string.

Physics and geometry of complex structure limits in type IIB Calabi-Yau compactifications

<p>We propose two medium-baseline, kiloton-scale neutrino experiments to study neutrinos from LHC proton-proton collisions: the Surface-based Integrated Neutrino Experiment (SINE), a surface-based scintillator panel detector observing muon neutrinos from the compact muon solenoid interaction point, and the UNDerwater Integrated Neutrino Experiment (UNDINE), a water Cherenkov detector submerged in lake Geneva observing all-flavor neutrinos from LHCb. Using a Monte Carlo simulation, we estimate millions of neutrino interactions during the high-luminosity LHC era. We show that these datasets can constrain neutrino cross sections, charm production in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mi>p</mi></math> collisions, strangeness enhancement as a solution to the cosmic-ray muon puzzle, and heavy neutral leptons. SINE and UNDINE thus offer a cost-effective medium-baseline complement to the proposed short-baseline forward physics facility.</p>

Lake- and surface-based detectors for forward neutrino physics

<p>The <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>Z</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> bosons produced in electron-positron collisions at the potential Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee) provide unique opportunities for flavor physics. The nonzero polarization of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math> baryons produced in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>Z</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> decays enables access to a much larger set of observables than at the LHC, where the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math> baryons are produced unpolarized. This paper presents a toy angular analysis of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo stretchy="false">→</mo><mi>p</mi><msup><mi>π</mi><mo>−</mo></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>μ</mi><mo>−</mo></msup></mrow></math> decays using simulation samples of collisions at the FCC-ee reconstructed using the IDEA detector concept and assuming a dataset of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mn>6</mn><mo>×</mo><msup><mn>10</mn><mn>12</mn></msup></math> <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msup><mi>Z</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></math> bosons. While the statistical sensitivity achieved for individual angular observables is not expected to significantly exceed that from the LHCb Upgrade II experiment, the addition of the polarized observables leads to a significant improvement of the knowledge on the Wilson coefficients <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>C</mi><msup><mn>9</mn><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo>′</mo><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></msup></msub></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>C</mi><mrow><msup><mn>10</mn><mrow><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mo>′</mo><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></msup></mrow></msub></math>.</p>

Constraints on new physics from decays of polarized <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msubsup><mi mathvariant="normal">Λ</mi><mi>b</mi><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math> baryons at the FCC-ee

We present results from a global fit of Standard Model parameters and dimension-6 SMEFT Wilson coefficients that includes electroweak, Drell-Yan, Higgs-boson, top-quark, and flavour observables. Fits obtained by floating individual coefficients are also discussed. The leading-order scale dependence of the SMEFT Wilson coefficients is consistently included in the evolution from the UV scale to the electroweak scale and the low-energy scale of flavour observables. In defining the SMEFT set of active operators we consider both the U(3) and the U(2) flavour symmetric limits. All fits are obtained within the HEPfit framework and are based on the most recent experimental results and state-of-the-art theoretical predictions for all the observables considered.
