We quantize D0-brane, the simplest representative of the family of supersymmetric Dirichlet $\textit{p}$-branes, in its spinor moving frame formulation and analyze its quantum state spectrum. Besides being a preparatory stage for quantization of the complete supersymmetric multiple D0-brane (mD0) model, which is presently known only in the frame of spinor moving frame formalism, this is interesting as its own: despite the covariant quantization of D = 10 D0-brane was discussed before, its quantum state spectrum was not analyzed and its field theory, describing that, was not studied.

Quantum state spectrum and field theory of D0-brane

<p>We present a novel application of a qubit-coupled phonon detector to search for new physics, e.g., ultralight dark matter (DM) and high-frequency gravitational waves. The detector, motivated by recent advances in quantum acoustics, is composed of superconducting transmon qubits coupled to high-overtone bulk acoustic resonators (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>h</mi><mi>BARs</mi></mrow></math>) and operates in the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mtext> </mtext><mi>GHz</mi><mo>−</mo><mn>10</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GHz</mi></mrow></math> frequency range. New physics can excite <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>10</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi><mi>eV</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> phonons within the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>h</mi><mi>BAR</mi></math>, which are then converted to qubit excitations via a transducer. We detail the design, operation, backgrounds, and expected sensitivity of a prototype detector, as well as a next-generation detector optimized for new physics signals. We find that a future detector can complement current haloscope experiments in the search for both dark photon DM and high-frequency gravitational waves. Lastly, we comment on such a detector’s ability to operate as a <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>10</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi mathvariant="normal">μ</mi><mi>eV</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> athermal phonon sensor for sub-GeV DM detection.</p>

Listening for new physics with quantum acoustics

<p>This Letter investigates the formation of quantum droplets in curved spacetime, highlighting the significant influence of curvature on the formation and properties of these objects. While our computations encompass various dimensions, we primarily focus on two dimensions. Our findings reveal a novel class of curvature-driven quantum effects leading to the formation of quasistable liquid droplets, suggesting a feasible pathway for experimental observation, particularly in microgravity environments.</p>

Quantum Droplets in Curved Space

Applying the computational quantum field theory (CQFT), this study pioneers the implementation of oscillating Gaussian potential well as a tunable external field for manipulating boson pair creation from the vacuum. The potential well width crucially control the boson pair creation via photon resonance transition. Expanding of the width can lead to a shift in the resonance transition mode from double to single transition channels, governing two interesting quantum regimes: narrow potential well widths induce dual-channel transitions with spectral splitting (characteristic of the Autler–Townes effect), while wide width yields monochromatic single-peaks with high spectral purity. Besides, energy spectral peaks exhibit a quantitative correlation with well frequency, enabling targeted boson population modulation. Furthermore, steeper-edged super-Gaussian well enhance boson yield and broaden energy spectra compared to Gaussian potential well. Parametric control of oscillating Gaussian-type wells (via width/shape modulation) establishes a quantum pair-creation paradigm, while their selective tunability enables fundamental explorations in vacuum physics and experimental design.

Efficient quantum control of Boson pair creation

Based on a sample of $2.7\times10^{9}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decay $\psi(3686)\to\gamma\chi_{cJ}, \chi_{cJ}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is analyzed. The decay modes $\chi_{c1}$ and $\chi_{c2}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ are observed for the first time, and their corresponding branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c1}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}) = $ $ (1.40\, \pm 0.13\, (\text{stat.}) \pm 0.09\, (\text{sys.})) \times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c2}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}) = (4.18\, \pm 0.84\, (\text{stat.}) \pm 0.48\, (\text{sys.})) \times 10^{-5}$ . An upper limit on the branching fraction of $\chi_{c0}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is set as $2.59 \times 10^{-5}$ at a 90% confidence level (CL). A partial wave analysis (PWA) of the decay $\chi_{c1}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is performed to search for the $1^{-+}$ exotic state $\eta_1(1855)$ . The PWA result indicates that the structure in the $\eta\eta^{\prime}$ mass spectrum is attributed to $f_0(1500)$ , while in the $\eta\eta$ mass spectrum, it is attributed to the $0^{++}$ phase space. The upper limit of ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c1}\to\eta_{1}(1855)\eta) \cdot {\cal{B}}(\eta_{1}(1855)\to\eta\eta^{\prime}) \lt $ $ 9.79 \times 10^{-5}$ is set based on the PWA at 90% CL.

It is well-known that a Lagrangian resembling scalar–tensor gravity naturally emerges from string theory in the low-energy limit. This suggests that a scalar–tensor theory intrinsically inhabits precious information about quantum gravitational effects. With this motivation, we quantize the scalar–tensor theory $$R+ \lambda R\phi ^2$$ in order to unfold the black hole physics in quantum gravity. We are interested in the behavior of the wave function near the interior singularity of a black hole, which would give a pathway to resolving the singularity. Consequently, we employ canonical quantization in a Kantowski–Sachs minisuperspace representation for the black hole interior. The ensuing Wheeler–DeWitt equation turns out to be intricately coupled among the three minisuperspace variables. Upon a suitable transformation, one of the variables could be easily separated – however, the scalar field $$\phi $$ remains coupled intricately and cannot be separated by any obvious transformation. Consequently, we employ a perturbative approach in powers of $$\lambda $$ . As a result, the zeroth order equation is immediately separable, and the first order equation still remains coupled in two variables. We adopt a Green function approach to solve this first order (inhomogeneous) equation. Our detailed calculation reveals that the Green function is well-defined in the vicinity of the black hole singularity, an important result for admitting the DeWitt criterion for singularity resolution. Furthermore, our calculations illustrate that both the zeroth order and first order wave functions are well-defined at the singularity as they are consistent with the DeWitt criterion, paving the way to black hole singularity resolution in scalar–tensor quantum gravity.

Action-angle variables in quantum gravity

We investigate the thermodynamic and holographic properties of charged and rotating quantum black holes in a doubly holographic braneworld setup. These quantum black holes are derived from the anti-de Sitter C-metric and are exact solutions to a semiclassical gravitational theory which incorporates all orders of the backreaction of quantum fields on spacetime. The inclusion of both charge and rotation extends and generalizes previous studies. The thermodynamics and critical behavior of the black holes are examined from the bulk, brane, and boundary perspectives, and we demonstrate that the inclusion of either charge or rotation removes the reentrant phase transitions seen in the neutral-static case. The critical exponents of the system are calculated using numerical methods and found to differ from the standard mean field theory values for the neutral-static black holes’ reentrant phase transitions, but in agreement with mean-field theory for the phase transitions of the black holes with charge and rotation. Additionally, to test the validity of the semiclassical treatment, we study a mass-gap energy scale to identify regimes where quantum fluctuations of spacetime geometry are expected to become significant and speculate about a connection with weak cosmic censorship gedankenexperiments. We also generalize the quantum Penrose inequality and the quantum reverse isoperimetric inequality to include charge and rotation. Finally, we compute a renormalized gyromagnetic ratio and analyze it in the limit of large backreaction.

Charged rotating quantum black holes

The Higgs boson decay $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{WW}$ → $$ {\ell}^{+}{\nu}_{\ell }{\ell}^{\prime -}{\overline{\nu}}_{\ell^{\prime }} $$ provides a unique window into the structure of the Higgs couplings to electroweak gauge bosons and has recently gained attention for its potential to unveil quantum properties such as quantum entanglement between the intermediate gauge bosons. In this work, we present a systematic study of next-to-leading order electroweak corrections to the angular coefficients characterizing this decay. While these coefficients are highly constrained at leading order, radiative corrections induce shifts of up to 5% to the existing terms and generate novel structures that vanish at leading order, breaking previous relations among coefficients. While higher-order effects influence the results, the two-qutrit quantum structure in the $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{WW}$ channel exhibits greater stability under such corrections than in the previously studied $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{ZZ}$ decay.

Higher-order corrections to quantum observables in $\textit{h}$ → $\textit{WW}$

We use the Tomonaga–Schwinger (TS) formulation of quantum field theory to determine when state-dependent additions to the local Hamiltonian density (i.e., modifications to linear Schrödinger evolution) violate relativistic covariance. We derive new operator integrability conditions required for foliation independence, including the Fréchet derivative terms that arise from state-dependence. Nonlinear modifications of quantum mechanics affect operator relations at spacelike separation, leading to violation of the integrability conditions.
