A search for a pseudoscalar $\textit{a}$ produced in association with a top-quark pair, or in association with a single top quark plus a $\textit{W}$ boson, with the pseudoscalar decaying into $\textit{b}$-quarks ( $$a\rightarrow b\bar{b}$$ ), is performed using the full Run 2 data sample using a dileptonic decay mode signature. The search covers pseudoscalar boson masses between 12 and 100 GeV and involves both the kinematic regime where the decay products of the pseudoscalar are reconstructed as two standard $\textit{b}$-tagged small-radius jets, or merged into a large-radius jet due to its Lorentz boost. No significant excess relative to expectations is observed. Assuming a branching ratio $$\text {BR}(a\rightarrow b\bar{b})=100\% $$ , the range of pseudoscalar masses between 50 and 80 GeV is excluded at 95% confidence level for a coupling of the pseudoscalar to the top quark of 0.5, while a coupling of 1.0 is excluded at 95% confidence level for the masses considered, with the coupling defined as the strength modifier of the Standard Model Yukawa coupling.

Search for a new pseudoscalar decaying into a pair of bottom and antibottom quarks in top-associated production in $$\sqrt{s}=13$$ TeV proton–proton collisions with the ATLAS detector

We analyze the supersymmetric defect indices of $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang Mills theories which are simultaneously decorated by the BPS line operators and the boundary conditions. We demonstrate that the two-point functions of the boundary ’t Hooft lines of magnetic charges associated with the minuscule representations in the presence of the regular Nahm pole boundary conditions can be obtained by applying the Higgsing prescription to the half-indices of the Dirichlet boundary conditions. Accordingly, we find precise matching of the indices for pairs of the S-dual configurations with the Wilson lines and Neumann boundary conditions and those with the ’t Hooft lines and the regular Nahm pole boundary conditions. Alternatively, we analytically compute the indices by means of the inner product of the Macdonald polynomials to find the exact closed-form expressions.

S-duality of boundary lines in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 SYM theories and supersymmetric indices

<p>We report measurements of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>, <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>2</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>3</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> production in <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>p</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>p</mi></math> collisions at <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msqrt><mi>s</mi></msqrt><mo>=</mo><mn>500</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi></math> by the STAR experiment in year 2011, corresponding to an integrated luminosity <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi mathvariant="script">L</mi><mrow><mi>int</mi></mrow></msub><mo>=</mo><mn>13</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><msup><mi>pb</mi><mrow><mo>−</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow></msup></math>. The results provide precise cross sections, transverse momentum (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>p</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">T</mi></msub></math>) and rapidity (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>y</mi></math>) spectra, as well as cross section ratios for <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>p</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">T</mi></msub><mo>&lt;</mo><mn>10</mn><mtext> </mtext><mtext> </mtext><mi>GeV</mi><mo>/</mo><mi mathvariant="normal">c</mi></math> and <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mo stretchy="false">|</mo><mi>y</mi><mo stretchy="false">|</mo><mo>&lt;</mo><mn>1</mn></math>. The dependence of the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi></math> yield on charged particle multiplicity has also been measured, offering new insights into the mechanisms of quarkonium production. The data are compared to various theoretical models: the color evaporation model (CEM) accurately describes the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><mn>1</mn><mi>S</mi><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></math> production, while the color glass <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>condensate</mi><mo>+</mo><mtext>nonrelativistic</mtext></mrow></math> quantum chromodynamics (<math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>CGC</mi><mo>+</mo><mi>NRQCD</mi></mrow></math>) model overestimates the data, particularly at low <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><msub><mi>p</mi><mi mathvariant="normal">T</mi></msub></math>. Conversely, the color singlet model (CSM) underestimates the rapidity dependence. These discrepancies highlight the need for further development in understanding the production dynamics of heavy quarkonia in high-energy hadronic collisions. The trend in the multiplicity dependence is consistent with CGC/saturation and string percolation models or <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi mathvariant="normal">ϒ</mi></math> production happening in multiple parton interactions modeled by <span class="sc">pythia</span>8.</p>
