The Balitsky-Kovchegov (BK) equation offers a tractable description of the high-energy growth of gauge-theory scattering amplitudes and the nonlinear saturation effects that eventually tame it. Motivated by the upcoming Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), whose extended kinematic reach promises more decisive tests of saturation at high energies, we present a framework based on the spacelike-timelike correspondence that streamlines the computation of multi-loop corrections to the BK equation. We explicitly verify the correspondence at three loops in the large-flavor limit and predict the full non-conformal component of the three-loop BK Hamiltonian in the planar limit of a generic gauge theory, treating the numbers of fermions and scalars as free parameters.

High-energy evolution in planar QCD to three loops: the non-conformal contribution

<p>We introduce a novel method to compute gravitational wave amplitudes within the framework of effective field theory. By reinterpreting the Feynman diagram expansion as a Born series, our method offers several key advantages. It directly yields partial wave amplitudes, streamlining the matching with black hole perturbation theory. Long-distance gravitational interactions are unambiguously factorized from short-distance tidal effects, including dissipation, which are systematically incorporated via an in-in worldline effective action. Crucially, at every order in perturbation theory, integrals are expressed in terms of harmonic polylogarithms, enabling an end-to-end computation scalable to arbitrary orders. We illustrate the method with new predictions for scalar black hole Love numbers and their renormalization group equations to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mrow><mi>G</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>7</mn></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math>.</p>

Gravitational Wave Scattering via the Born Series: Scalar Tidal Matching to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi mathvariant="script">O</mi><mo stretchy="false">(</mo><msup><mrow><mi>G</mi></mrow><mrow><mn>7</mn></mrow></msup><mo stretchy="false">)</mo></mrow></math> and Beyond

<p>We propose a recursive method that makes use of the basic principle of unitarity to calculate the Landau singularities of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>n</mi></mrow></math>-point scattering amplitudes directly in kinematic space. For a vast class of Feynman diagrams, the method enables rapid analytic computation of Landau singularities beyond current state-of-the-art technology. This includes new predictions relevant for two- and higher-loop processes in the standard model involving both massive quarks and electroweak particles.</p>

Recursive Landau Analysis

Motivated by the holographic correspondence, we study the boundary imprint of bulk lightcones in spacetimes with boundaries. These lightcones can be observed whenever a localized event takes place in the bulk. The associated boundary surfaces (hyperboloids) reveal the bulk conformal metric. We work out a Hamilton-Jacobi description of these surfaces and analyze them in explicit examples. Bulk causality translates into a boundary inclusion property from which the bulk geodesic equation can be derived under some assumptions.

Boundary imprint of bulk causality

The holographic correspondence predicts that certain strongly coupled quantum systems describe an emergent, higher-dimensional bulk spacetime in which excitations enjoy local dynamics. We consider a general holographic state dual to an asymptotically AdS bulk spacetime, and study boundary correlation functions of local fields integrated against wavepackets. We derive a factorization formula showing that when the wavepackets suitably meet at a common bulk point, the boundary correlators develop sharp features controlled by flat-space-like bulk scattering processes. These features extend along boundary hyperboloids whose shape naturally reveals the bulk geometry. We discuss different choices of operator ordering, which lead to inclusive and out-of-time-ordered amplitudes, as well as fields of various spins and masses.

Looking at bulk points in general geometries

We study four-point correlation functions of the stress-tensor multiplet in $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills (sYM) theory by leveraging integrability and localization techniques. We combine dispersive sum rules and spectral information from integrability, used previously, with integrated constraints from supersymmetric localization. We obtain two-sided bounds on the OPE coefficient of the so-called Konishi operator in the planar limit at any value of the ’t Hooft coupling ranging from weak to strong coupling. In addition to individual OPE coefficients, we discuss how to bound the correlation function itself and obtain two-sided bounds at various values of the cross-ratios and coupling. Lastly, considering the limit of large ’t Hooft coupling, we connect the analysis with that of an analogous flat space problem involving the Virasoro-Shapiro amplitude.

Bootstrapping $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 sYM correlators using integrability and localization

We analyze the one-loop effects of massive fields on 2-to-2 scattering processes involving gravitons. It has been suggested that in the presence of gravity, any local effective field theory description must break down at the “species scale”. We first observe that unitarity and analyticity of the amplitude indeed imply a species-type bound $\textit{G}$Λ $\textit{N}$ ≤ $\textit{O}$(1), where $\textit{N}$ counts parametrically light species and Λ is an energy scale above which new unknown ingredients must modify the graviton amplitude. To clarify what happens at this scale, we contrast the partial wave decomposition of calculated amplitudes with that of some ultraviolet scenarios: string theory and strongly interacting Planck-scale physics. Observing that the latter exhibit a markedly stronger high-spin content, we define nonperturbatively the $\textit{high-spin onset}$ scale Λ , which coincides with the string scale and higher-dimensional Planck scale in respective examples. We argue that, generally, no local field description can exist at distances shorter than 1/Λ .

Gravity and a universal cutoff for field theory

We study loop corrections to positivity bounds on effective field theories in the context of 2 → 2 scattering in gravitational theories, in the presence of light particles. It has been observed that certain negative contributions at low energies are enhanced by inverse powers of a small mass $\textit{m}$ and are nontrivial to cancel against other low-energy contributions. These originate from near the forward limit of diagrams involving graviton exchange. We observe that scattering in this kinematics domain remains infrared-sensitive even at high center-of-mass energy. By considering a string-inspired model in which high-energy loops can be calculated using unitarity and Regge behavior of tree amplitudes, we uncover a natural mechanism through which 1$\textit{/m}$-enhanced terms perfectly cancel between low and high energy contributions. This concretely explains possible positivity violations in the presence of gravity from the high-energy viewpoint.

String loops and gravitational positivity bounds: imprint of light particles at high energies

We find that different asymptotic measurements in quantum field theory can be related to one another through new versions of crossing symmetry. Assuming analyticity, we conjecture generalized crossing relations for multi-particle processes and the corresponding paths of analytic continuation. We prove them to all multiplicity at tree-level in quantum field theory and string theory. We illustrate how to practically perform analytic continuations on loop-level examples using different methods, including unitarity cuts and differential equations. We study the extent to which anomalous thresholds away from the usual physical region can cause an analytic obstruction to crossing when massless particles are involved. In an appendix, we review and streamline historical proofs of four-particle crossing symmetry in gapped theories.

Crossing beyond scattering amplitudes

We compute the stress-tensor two-point function in three-dimensional Yang-Mills theory to three-loops in perturbation theory. Using its calculable shape at high momenta, we test the notion that its Borel transform is saturated at low energies by the lowest glueball state(s). This assumption provides relatively stable estimates for the mass of the lightest glueball that we compare with lattice simulations. We also provide estimates for the coupling of the lightest glueball to the stress tensor. Along the way, we comment on the extent that such estimates are non-rigorous. Lastly, we discuss the possibility of applying the sum-rule analysis to two-point functions of higher-spin operators and obtain a crude approximation for the glueball couplings to these operators.
