We apply harmonic analysis to study the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>T</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>T</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math>-deformed torus partition function. We first express the CFT partition functions in terms of Maass waveforms, including the Eisenstein series and cusp forms. These basis functions turn out to deform in a very simple way under the <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>T</mi><mover accent="true"><mi>T</mi><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mover></math> deformation. The spectral decomposition provides a numerically stable and efficient method to compute the partition function at finite values of the deformation parameter <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>λ</mi></math>, allowing us to clearly resolve the analytic structure of the partition function as a function of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>λ</mi></math>. The resulting deformed partition function exhibits a Hagedorn singularity. Building on the harmonic analysis approach, we propose a natural analytic continuation beyond the Hagedorn singularity, which enables us to compute the full partition function for any value of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>λ</mi></math>.

Beyond Hagedorn: A Harmonic Approach to <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>T</mi><mover accent="true"><mrow><mi>T</mi></mrow><mrow><mo stretchy="false">¯</mo></mrow></mover></mrow></math> Deformation

We perform a complete one-loop renormalization analysis of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></mrow></math>-odd Lorentz-violating scalar quantum chromodynamics with adjoint scalar matter. Working to first order in the preferred background vector and treating the corresponding operators as perturbative insertions, we compute the ultraviolet-divergent parts of the relevant two-, three-, and four-point Green’s functions for the gauge, scalar, and ghost fields. We show that the gauge sector develops the expected Carroll-Field-Jackiw-type correction, which generically turns out to be divergent in our theory, although the divergence vanishes in a certain gauge, while the scalar sector displays the corresponding <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mrow><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></mrow></math>-odd single-derivative term proportional to the background vector. We further demonstrate that several of the Lorentz-violating corrections the three- and four-point function are ultraviolet finite. All one-loop divergences may be absorbed into counterterms already allowed by the classical Lagrangian, providing an explicit proof of the multiplicative renormalizability of the theory at this order. We also obtain the associated renormalization constants and one-loop <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>β</mi></math> functions for the gauge coupling, the Lorentz violation parameters, and the scalar self-interaction.

Perturbative analysis of <math xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"><mi>C</mi><mi>P</mi><mi>T</mi></math>-odd Lorentz-violating scalar QCD

In this work, the classical Godel solution from general relativity is extended into the framework of modified gravity theories based on non-metricity <italic>Q</italic> and the trace of the energy-momentum tensor <italic>T</italic> in the context of <italic>f</italic>( <italic>Q, T</italic>) gravity. The main feature of the Godel solution is the existence of closed time-like curves, which allow for causality violation and time travel. Since general relativity and its extensions do not demand spacetime to be globally causal, there is good motivation to explore such solutions. We have found classes of solutions with different matter content, like perfect fluid, cosmological constant, massless scalar field, etc. It is observed that, for suitable initial conditions, there are possibilities of obtaining feasible solutions that violate causality in our setup. The presence of non-metricity and its coupling with matter in such solutions produce significant deviations that are noteworthy.

Godel universe in <italic>f</italic>( <italic>Q, T</italic>) gravity: Exploring causality violation and closed time-like curves

We report on the differential cross sections d <italic>&#963;</italic>/d <italic>t</italic>, the unpolarized spin-density matrix elements <math altimg='si7.svg'><msubsup><mi>&#961;</mi><mn>00</mn><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math>, <math altimg='si9.svg'><msubsup><mi>&#961;</mi><mrow><mn>1</mn><mo>&#8722;</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math>, Re <math altimg='si8.svg'><msubsup><mi>&#961;</mi><mn>10</mn><mn>0</mn></msubsup></math>, and the first extraction of the polarized elements Im <math altimg='si12.svg'><msubsup><mi>&#961;</mi><mn>10</mn><mn>3</mn></msubsup></math>, Im <math altimg='si13.svg'><msubsup><mi>&#961;</mi><mrow><mn>1</mn><mo>&#8722;</mo><mn>1</mn></mrow><mn>3</mn></msubsup></math> for the reaction <italic>&#947;p</italic>&#8239;&#8594;&#8239; <italic>p&#969;</italic> using the CLAS spectrometer at Jefferson Laboratory. The <italic>&#969;</italic> mesons were detected in their dominant charged decay mode, <math altimg='si14.svg'><mrow><mi>&#969;</mi><mo>&#8594;</mo><msup><mi>&#960;</mi><mo>+</mo></msup><msup><mi>&#960;</mi><mo>&#8722;</mo></msup><msup><mi>&#960;</mi><mn>0</mn></msup></mrow></math>, and all <italic>t</italic>-dependent results are presented in a fine binning for incident photon energies between 2.73 and 5.16 GeV (corresponding to the center-of-mass energy range <italic>W</italic>&#8239;&#8712;&#8239;[&#8201;2.45, 3.25&#8201;] GeV). All matrix elements are first measurements for <math altimg='si15.svg'><mrow><mo>&#8722;</mo><mi>t</mi><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>&gt;</mo><mn>0.6</mn></mrow></math> GeV 2. Moreover, differential cross sections d <italic>&#963;</italic>/d(cos <math altimg='si16.svg'><msubsup><mstyle mathvariant='normal'><mi>&#920;</mi></mstyle><mrow><mrow><mspace width='0.16em' /></mrow><mi>c</mi><mo>.</mo><mi>m</mi><mo>.</mo></mrow><mrow><mspace width='0.16em' /><mi>&#969;</mi></mrow></msubsup></math>) and the corresponding angle-dependent unpolarized spin-density matrix elements in the Adair frame are presented for the incident photon energy range 1.56&#8211;3.80 GeV (corresponding to <italic>W</italic>&#8239;&#8712;&#8239;[&#8201;1.95, 2.83&#8201;] GeV). These new <italic>&#969;</italic> photoproduction data are consistent with earlier CLAS results but extend the energy range well beyond the nucleon resonance region into the Regge regime. The comparison with Regge-theory-based model predictions shows that the new data impose more stringent constraints on our understanding of <italic>&#969;</italic> photoproduction.

First measurement of polarized spin-density matrix elements and differential cross sections d <italic>&#963;</italic>/d <italic>t</italic> in <italic>&#969;</italic> photoproduction off the proton for 2.7&#8239;&lt;&#8239; <italic>E<inf>&#947;</inf></italic>&#8239;&lt;&#8239;5.2 GeV using CLAS at Jefferson Lab

A measurement of correction factors for the hadronic jet energy scale and resolution in the ATLAS detector is presented. These correction factors account for differences between simulated and observed data. They are obtained by analysing a selection of top quark events collected in proton–proton collisions by ATLAS between the years 2015 and 2018 at a centre-of-mass energy $$\sqrt{s} = 13$$ $$\text {T{eV}}$$ as well as in 2022 and 2023 at $$\sqrt{s} = 13.6$$ $$\text {T{eV}}$$ . The impact of different jet energy scale or resolution corrections on the reconstructed mass of the hadronically decaying $\textit{W}$ boson from top-quark decays in simulation is quantified. The correction factors are extracted from a fit to the parameterised reconstructed $\textit{W}$-boson mass distribution to data. The energy scale and resolution corrections are measured as a function of the jet transverse momentum between 20 and 200 GeV and absolute pseudorapidity less than 0.8. The uncertainties in the energy scale range from about 0.93% to about 1.7% for jets between 35 and 200 $$\text {G{eV}}$$ , while for the energy resolution the uncertainties range from about 14 to 28%. The method presented will be used in conjunction with other techniques to further improve ATLAS jet energy scale and resolution precision.
