We investigate the relationship between thermodynamic phase transitions and the Lyapunov exponent of charged regular anti-de Sitter black holes in quasi-topological gravity. Our results show that the Lyapunov exponent displays multivalued behavior during phase transitions. Moreover, along the coexistence curve the Lyapunov exponent changes discontinously and continuously at the critical point. Near the critical point, the Lyapunov exponent follows a power-law behavior with a critical exponent of 1/2, suggesting its role as an order parameter and encodes information on black hole phase transitions.

Probing phase transitions of regular black holes in anti-de Sitter space with Lyapunov exponent

We consider soft graviton scattering for a theory where Einstein’s gravity is minimally coupled to a scalar field in the presence of a cosmological constant, i.e. in a background de Sitter space. Employing a perturbative expansion in a small cosmological constant, we compute leading, subleading and sub-subleading corrections to Weinberg’s soft graviton amplitude for the tree-level scatterings in the static patch of de Sitter space. We observe similar universal features of the soft graviton amplitude as found in (2023) 055 for the soft photons.

Perturbative soft graviton theorems in de Sitter spacetime

We perform the first computation of phase-transition parameters to cubic order in $ \lambda\sim m^2/T^2 $ , where $\textit{m}$ is the scalar mass and $\textit{T}$ is the temperature, in a simple model resembling the Higgs sector of the SMEFT. We use dimensional reduction, including 1-loop matching corrections for terms of dimension 6 (in 4-dimensional units), 2-loop contributions for dimension-4 ones and 3-loops for the squared mass. We precisely quantify the size of the different corrections, including renormalization-group running as well as quantum effects from light fields in the effective theory provided by the Coleman-Weinberg potential, and discuss briefly the implications for gravitational waves. Our results suggest that, for strong phase transitions, 1-loop corrections from dimension-6 operators can compete with 2-loop ones from quartic couplings and largely surpass those from 3-loop thermal masses.

Based on a sample of $2.7\times10^{9}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII collider, the decay $\psi(3686)\to\gamma\chi_{cJ}, \chi_{cJ}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is analyzed. The decay modes $\chi_{c1}$ and $\chi_{c2}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ are observed for the first time, and their corresponding branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c1}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}) = $ $ (1.40\, \pm 0.13\, (\text{stat.}) \pm 0.09\, (\text{sys.})) \times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c2}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}) = (4.18\, \pm 0.84\, (\text{stat.}) \pm 0.48\, (\text{sys.})) \times 10^{-5}$ . An upper limit on the branching fraction of $\chi_{c0}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is set as $2.59 \times 10^{-5}$ at a 90% confidence level (CL). A partial wave analysis (PWA) of the decay $\chi_{c1}\to\eta\eta\eta^{\prime}$ is performed to search for the $1^{-+}$ exotic state $\eta_1(1855)$ . The PWA result indicates that the structure in the $\eta\eta^{\prime}$ mass spectrum is attributed to $f_0(1500)$ , while in the $\eta\eta$ mass spectrum, it is attributed to the $0^{++}$ phase space. The upper limit of ${\cal{B}}(\chi_{c1}\to\eta_{1}(1855)\eta) \cdot {\cal{B}}(\eta_{1}(1855)\to\eta\eta^{\prime}) \lt $ $ 9.79 \times 10^{-5}$ is set based on the PWA at 90% CL.

We propose a new way to obtain explicit de Sitter (dS) solutions from controlled string-theory constructions. The Dine-Seiberg problem is usually interpreted as meaning that weak-coupling expansions generically drive runaways rather than allowing stabilized maximally symmetric spacetimes. Using the special case of string compactifications to 6D we confirm that this argument does prevent the existence of classical maximally symmetric 6D solutions but argue that it $\textit{allows}$ time-independent classical solutions with maximal 4D symmetry, including dS solutions. We review how minimal gauged chiral 6D supergravity evades standard dS no-go theorems by having a positive scalar potential and describe the known 4D classical dS, AdS and Minkowski solutions. The stringy provenance of this 6D supergravity was obscure until Grimm and collaborators found it to be produced by direct F-theory Calabi-Yau flux compactifications. We construct classical 4D maximally symmetric solutions for this 6D supergravity and provide explicit solutions of the higher-dimensional field equations corresponding to dS, AdS and flat spacetimes in 4D, allowing interesting hierarchies of scales. We show how the singularities of these solutions are consistent with the back-reaction of two space-filling 4D brane-like sources situated within the extra dimensions and infer some of the properties of these sources using the formalism of point particle effective field theory (PPEFT). These tools relate the near-source asymptotic forms of bulk fields to source properties and have been extensively tested for more prosaic physical systems involving the back-reaction of small sources, such as the dependence of atomic energy levels on nuclear properties. We use it to determine the tension of the brane-like sources (that can be positive) and its derivatives. We verify that the solutions are in the weak coupling/large volume regime required to neglect quantum and $\textit{α}$ effects.

4D de Sitter from string theory via 6D supergravity

In this work, we explore the existence of wormhole geometries within the framework of <italic>f</italic>( <italic>R, T</italic>) gravity by employing a novel functional form based on the Capozziello-De Laurentis model, given by <math altimg='si18.svg'><mrow><mi>f</mi><mrow><mo>(</mo><mi>R</mi><mo>,</mo><mi>T</mi><mo>)</mo></mrow><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mi>&#945;</mi><msup><mi>R</mi><mi>n</mi></msup><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>&#8722;</mo><mi>&#946;</mi><msup><mi>R</mi><mrow><mo>&#8722;</mo><mi>q</mi></mrow></msup><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>+</mo><mi>R</mi><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>+</mo><mi>&#955;</mi><mi>T</mi></mrow></math>. We assume a static, spherically symmetric spacetime and analyze the viability of wormhole solutions by imposing appropriate constraints on the shape function. Our investigation reveals specific parameter regions where traversable wormhole configurations can be realized without the necessity of exotic matter. Furthermore, we extend our analysis to perfect fluid models and two different equation-of-state (EoS) scenarios: <math altimg='si19.svg'><mrow><msub><mi>P</mi><mi>r</mi></msub><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mi>k</mi><mi>&#961;</mi></mrow></math> and <math altimg='si20.svg'><mrow><msub><mi>P</mi><mi>t</mi></msub><mo linebreak='goodbreak'>=</mo><mi>k</mi><mi>&#961;</mi></mrow></math>. For each case, we confirm that the obtained shape functions satisfy the required conditions for wormhole existence. Additionally, we examine the energy conditions and find that they remain valid, reinforcing the physical plausibility of the constructed wormhole solutions. Our results demonstrate that viable wormhole geometries can emerge in <italic>f</italic>( <italic>R, T</italic>) gravity under suitable parameter choices, providing further insights into the role of modified gravity in astrophysical structures.

Traversable wormhole solutions through Capozziello-De Laurentis model in <italic>f</italic>( <italic>R, T</italic>) gravity

While the Kiselev black hole solution does not describe a perfect fluid quintessence, it is possible that dark energy fluid is not isotropic, and so one may hope that the solution may still describe at least locally a black hole embedded in such a dark energy fluid environment. Taking into account that the accelerated expansion of the Universe is caused by a dynamical dark energy fluid, and the actual underlying cosmological constant is negative as has been sometimes suggested, we show that the Kiselev solution is untenable as it is unstable against brane nucleation instability.

Kiselev black holes in anti-de Sitter spacetime are not viable

We construct regular black holes with anti-de Sitter asymptotics in theories incorporating infinite towers of higher-order curvature corrections in any dimension $\textit{D}$ ≥ 5. We find that regular black branes are generically inner-extremal, potentially evading instabilities typically associated with inner horizons. Considering minimally coupled matter, we establish general criteria for the existence of singularity-free solutions. We analyze solutions coupled to Maxwell and nonlinear (Born-Infeld and RegMax) electrodynamics, demonstrating in the latter case the first examples of fully regular gravitational and electromagnetic fields for all parameter values. Here, we find that the ratio of the gravitational mass to the electrostatic self-energy determines whether the regular core is de Sitter or anti-de Sitter. We perform a detailed analysis of the black hole thermodynamics and show that the equation of state exhibits features akin to those of fluids with a finite molecular volume induced by the regularization parameter.

Thermodynamics of regular black holes in anti-de Sitter space

In this paper, we study the motion of a massless, chargeless particle in Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime, revealing exponential radial growth and potential chaos in an integrable system. Poincaré sections show regular Kolmogorov–Arnold–Moser (KAM) tori when black hole and cosmological horizons are distant, but distortions and chaos emerge as they converge. As the horizons coincide, the Poincaré sections fully contract and vanish, marking the system’s transition to Nariai spacetime. <italic>Our analysis also suggests that, within the parameter range explored, the event horizon exerts a comparatively more substantial chaotic influence on the system, primarily due to its consistent proximity.</italic> Additionally, we analyze the Lyapunov exponents to quantify the degree of chaos in the system. Our findings indicate that as the closeness of the two horizons increases, the most prominent Lyapunov exponent also increases, signifying a rise in chaotic behavior. By examining the long-term saturation values of the Lyapunov exponents, we confirm that they consistently comply with the Maldacena&#8211;Shenker&#8211;Stanford (MSS) bound.

Probing chaos in Schwarzschild-de Sitter spacetime: The role of black hole and cosmological horizons

For de Sitter spacetime, when the parameters of spacetime satisfy certain conditions, black hole horizon and cosmological horizon coexist in the spacetime. In this region, due to the existence of two horizons with different radiation temperatures, the spacetime does not satisfy the thermodynamic equilibrium stability requirements. This paper considers the spacetime as an overall thermodynamic system and, under the boundary conditions, provides the effective temperature that reflects the entire de Sitter spacetime. Through discussion, it is found that when the effective potential remains unchanged in time, the heat capacity of the de Sitter spacetime exhibits a curve similar to the Schottky specific heat of a two-level system. Moreover, this curve highly coincides with the heat capacity curve when the two horizons are considered as a two-level system. By comparing the maximum values of the heat capacity curves, the number of microscopic particles between the two horizons in the spacetime is estimated. This discovery provides a deeper understanding of de Sitter spacetime. This conclusion opens a new avenue for studying the interactions of microscopic particles inside black holes and simulating the evolution process of the universe, aiming to explore the intrinsic factors driving the accelerated expansion of the universe.
